I finally made it in to check out Pint last weekend. The staff were super cool and friendly, the selection of local craft brews was excellent and the trivia kept me there for an extra couple hours. Free popcorn is another great feature, if you're into that sort of thing. It's definitely a small space, but they make the most of it. The decor is as cool as it gets for a beer bar, too. The best part of our visit was spending time talking to the owner, Wolf. I'm a homebrewer, but pretty ignorant in the details of the beer industry in NJ. He chatted with us and really gave an education on the challenges of distribution for craft brewers. That significantly added to my experience. read more

I love "Pint"! I went with my sis to go apt. hunting around Grove Ft. and decided to grab a drink since we had some time to kill on a Thursday night. OMG! I fell in LOVE! Ambiance: softly lit, laid back vibe. Could be date-appropriate if you go early. Ohhh, and you get to play trivia. Service: AWESOME. The bartenders were super friendly. Yeah! You earn 4 solid stars when you serve a fishbowl drink that comes with a souvenir rubber ducky in it. We had started out with the $18 fishbowl, and then for a micro brew beer and 2 "Texas Drag Queen" shots. The shots were on special for $3 each. Shots seemed weak but tasty anyways. The fishbowl, a bit sugary but still delicious. The beer selection was amazing. I had no idea that JC had such great beer drinking bars. This was a cool spot with decent seating and lamps made from old beer taps. They have a back porch but because of the blazing heat we couldn't even entertain the thought of it. Came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend after a friend recommended the place for its craft beers. The beer selection was extensive and looked great. The crowd however on a Friday night definitely proved that Pint used to be a gay bar. Trivia was being played all night as well. This bar has a good vibe. Yes, it's allegedly a gay bar but it does have a very mixed crowed. I'm not from the area but heard from another bar tender that it was a good place to check out. I was there on a Sunday night and a Friday night and I'd say I had more fun on a Sunday and never would have expected it to be so busy. If your gay, straight, bi, it does not matter. Went in, the crowd was all male, my friend and I were the only females in there just until we spoke to one of the guys who were there. That's when we found out we were hanging out with the contestants and producers of Mr. Gay World USA! Haha! And I thought random nights only happen in Manhattan. I was wrong. What's the matter Walter, does someone have a crush and it wasn't reciprocated? This place is awesome. Its small but all the better to meet new people. I've met some of best friends in life there. The bartenders are ALL friendly, the owner is amazing, he regularly donates all nights proceeds to whatever is happening in the world at that moment and needs help. Its a fun non judgemental bar. Like Tom L mentioned below, I also remember why I stopped coming. It's great for a quick drink, then move on. I rarely spend more than an hour b/c of the snobbish attitude of the regular "cliques". They used to be friendly to all, but if you're not a regular these days (and I am an old-timer who now comes less often), they will snub you for even saying "hi" or smiling. Weird 'tude by a bunch of alkies. I guess this illustrates poor social skills and an outlet for true barflies. And as for the staff, they are usually nice, but come on man, having the power to totally erase songs I BOUGHT on Rockbot, only to play their station of boring noise that the 20-somethings listen to, not cool. A gay bar that is welcoming to anyone. It feels like a corner tap, but one with a terrific selection of beers. I was also surprised to find the bartender knows how mix an excellent martini, so feel free to order something other than the beer! The place is small and comfortable. Jukebox is interesting--controlled by a downloadable app on your smartphone. And you can also play bar trivia, if you are so inclined. Don't head outside to the patio. We heard it was nice, but is a tiny, enclosed space that feels more like an outdoor closet than a patio. What can I say, it is a very eclectic establishment. There are numerous TV's for sports, a TV for trivia, and a TV to play some Wii. They have six taps with a bottle list of 50+ at last count, and drink menu consisting of cocktails and fishbowls. Service was very good. The bartender was helpful in picking out the beers, because there are numerous beers that I can't get in Denver. I am disappointed about the pours though. Paying $6 for a pint and getting a couple inches of foam in a pint glass really irks me. Get some imperial pints if you want to do that or get some cheater pints and fill it up and leave a small head(at least you can try to pretend that you can fool me). Except for that last gripe, I will be back. Talking with a local brewer, he had recommended Star Bar. Draught lines were clean and they really have a high turnover of kegs, so the beer is fresh, and that is the most important thing, especially if you are marketing yourself as the best craft beer bar in JC. read more

Your liking or dislike of this place depends on what you are looking for. I hadn't been for over a year and had frankly forgotten why I stopped going. Having been a few times this past month, I know why I can only go here for a quick drink before moving on to a place that suits ME. PROS: That said, this place does have OTHER things going for it: 1) great place for beers of all kinds, some very strange but interesting; 2) great place for trivia games; 3) small but comfortable - very pub-like and draws neighborhood crowd; 4) Nick and Tommy are always very nice so that is a plus; 5) Biggest asset here is Nick. Always friendly and will talk to anyone, so if you go alone and he's there, you won't be bored. He can be very sweet and also stand his ground in a conversation. He gets on with people even when they're very different from him. If he can get on with ME, he can get on with ANYONE - and he does. CONS: The gay regulars here are mostly not to my liking because they display a tendency towards shallowness and immaturity, and the conversation ALWAYS revolves around parties, getting hammered, sex, dance parties, etc. Fair enough to enjoy these things, but why spend hours banging on about it? Who cares? I can't stay when they turn up because I just don't fit in with 40-50 year old guys who still think life is all about drinking and beer bongs. That ain't for me. You mostly won't find many to talk to if you care about anything important in life. Some of this crowd thinks they are intellectual, but when someone INSISTS that Chelsea and the Meatpacking District are IN the West Village...or that you've never lived until you go so shit-faced you cannot walk...well, not my crowd. Always a great local crowd. Perfect place to meet your neighbors. Excellent staff and very friendly. Great drink specials and the beers they have on tap or by the bottle are always fantastic. This is a great neighborhood bar with an amazing beer selection and a staff that knows the beer available. Excellent live trivia on Wednesday nights and Buzztime trivia any time. Various drink specials and never a cover, not even on big party nights like New Year's Eve. I haven't been back for a few months so my friend and I stopped in this past Sunday for early happy hour. There was a good crowd of guys having a good time. The bartender was super nice too. All was cool till one of of the only women in the bar, a blonde chick, the next table over kept getting louder and louder. She was like a howler monkey in heat. The whole bar kept looking at her. This place is one of the BEST craft beer bars in the state. It's in an awesome location right near the Grove St PATH station. The owner is definitely the coolest bar owner I've ever met, and the staff is always super friendly and helpful. The crowd is always inviting and fun. The vibe is chill and relaxed. They have awesome trivia nights and other fun events. Be careful of the signature cocktails, because you might end up getting wrecked. Be sure to try as many of the delicious draft beers as you can, because they've always got something special on tap. My boyfriend and I have been here several times, sometimes bringing friends, other times just the two of us. While people keep saying that it is a gay bar, I have always found it to be quite mixed. Yes, there are definitely more obviously gay people in this bar compared to ones in the area, but there are also a lot of non-gay couples, groups of friends, singles of both orientations, etc. So I would say that this is an 'everyone is welcome' type of bar. My boyfriend and I always have a good time here. They have a great selection of beer (which he loves) and they do free popcorn (I love) and have fun trivia questions on the TV (we both love). You can also request music, which leads to some interesting mixes once everyone has had their say. Their fishbowls are awesome! Huge and delicious. We often share one when with friends. We now have a little collection of rubber ducks in our living room. We will definitely keep coming back. :) read more

After just moving to JC, this is my favorite bar! On a Saturday afternoon there were plenty of people inside imbibing and giving off a very welcoming vibe. Our bartender was GREAT, football player-esque guy from the country serving up cheap cold beers and surprisingly delicious $1 shots of whiskey. The hand-written, colorful wall menu included all sorts of amazing sounding cocktails and shots, can't wait to go back to try all of them! They also have handheld trivia that's displayed on the TVs so we had a great time challenging each other and other bar go-ers. In a town that seems to try really hard to be 'trendy', Pint seems to stay the course and just offer a straight-up good time! This bar is super cute. Super small. Super chill. It's just super!! I had a great time here on a Saturday evening. My two friends and I got there around 5:00 pm and there was already a small group of people there. Yes, they were gay men but I love gay men! Everyone was really friendly and having a good time drinking. You can control the music so I spent some time listening to the Rent soundtrack. Not my choice. Lol. Happy hour is until 8 pm I think. The bartender gave good advice on which beers and drinks to try. The free popcorn was awesome! By 7:30 the place was crowded but not packed. You could basically talk to anyone in the bar because everyone was that friendly. There were only four women there. My two friends and I and one more female out with her cute gay friend. I have been here a few times ( last year) and each has been a good and unique experience. A few friends of mine were in a drag competition and took me along to cheer them on. The bartenders were nice as were the patrons. I drank this very interesting drink called a "flying fairy" ( or something along this lines) that made me feel special inside. Really great neighborhood bar! The bartendress made me just about the best dirty martini I'd ever tasted. She was out of olive brine to make it dirty, so she actually mashed (juiced) an olive into the shaker. How many bartenders put that much work into a drink?
