I ordered the chicken Pad Thai that had fried scrambled eggs, and honestly, it looked like it rolled out of bed five minutes before I did -- but in the best possible way. The noodles were soft, slightly tangled, and clearly living their best life in that container. The fried egg was hanging out in little fluffy chunks like, "Yeah, I belong here," and honestly, it did. Every bite felt like a warm, carb-loaded hug from someone who doesn't really like hugs but tries anyway. The chicken was surprisingly tender, like it actually went to the gym and stretched before showing up. The veggies added just enough crunch to remind me that I made at least one healthy decision today. Portion-wise, this thing could feed you, your future self, and possibly the next tenant who moves into your apartment. Value for money? Absolutely. Flavor-wise, it wasn't the dramatic, saucy Thai experience that makes you question your life choices -- this was more like the chill friend who shows up in sweatpants and still vibes. Simple, tasty, comforting, and zero unnecessary drama. Would I eat it again? Yes. Would I marry it? Also yes, but I don't think that's legal in my state. Great food and fast service! They always tell you, online and over the phone, how long the wait will be. It's always accurate and can range from 15 to 45 minutes in my experience, based on the size of the order and how busy they are. The food is always delicious and consistent! The only thing to note is that the quantities vary between items and don't always seem to match prices exactly. When ordering for several people, or ordering dishes I haven't gotten before, it's a bit unknown if it will be more than enough or not (especially regarding appetizers). I think this has gotten better since when I first started going there though, but it could be because I know the menu better. We go here on occasion since they opened and have ordered takeout for just two of us, or up to 10 of us, and everyone always enjoys their meals. Favorites are definitely the Massaman curry (I don't get it other places now since they have the best). I like it with either veggies or chicken the best. It's a very creamy, thick sauce, with lots of cashews, potatoes, onions, and topped with crisp onions. Delicious and filling! I always have enough for two meals from one order. Their fried rice options are also favorites of our household. I enjoy the sweet chili fried rice (best with shrimp in my opinion). The house fried rice is also a big hit, especially for those who like a mixture chicken, beef, & shrimp. It's also very easy to make customizations like eliminating pineapple or peppers or whatever to meet your taste. Their in-store market is also a great find. They have lots of snacks and cooking supplies that you can't find anywhere else in the area. seriously the best thai food in maine! i was so sad when they closed sweet chili's a few years ago, but this new location is very impressive! the same friendly staff and an extremely clean kitchen. i was pleasantly surprised by their new international market with quite a large array of items! my favorite dish is the sweet chili chicken, absolutely delicious! i would love to see the kung pao chicken back, it was the best! their fresh rolls and pork dumplings are also great. overall, impressed as always and would highly recommend this place! the only con is when i'm craving pinto but realize it's a sunday and they're closed :( read more

I came here for take out; spicy basil with chicken, two won ton soups, an order of crab rangoon, and an order of chicken with peanut sauce. My wife says the food has flavor, but I disagree in that my spicy basil was laden with bell pepper and onions, and chicken. It didn't have much flavor to me and surely was far from anything spicy. The crab rangoon was "not bad but not great." The won ton soups were actually delicious and I would definitely get those again, maybe even a larger order size soup. The crispy chicken with peanut sauce- the chicken tasted like it was pre made/frozen. Not quite chicken patty but similar. The sauce wasn't that great either- I expected it to be a little sweet but it wasn't. The business itself though is quite nice, and it is run by some really kind people. Pinto Thai was suggested to me many months ago and (we) finally (!!) had a night to try the restaurant. It was literally a movie kind of dark and rainy night; the customer leaving said it was a perfect night (for red curry). My first impression was: awesome- the entrance is very welcoming, the staff very accommodating , and a quick glimpse into the kitchen when my order was coming out; very clean and well organized. The meal was delicious! Appetizers (Crab Rangoon and Spring Rolls) were excellent: light and perfectly done; both main dishes... delicious! We both are looking forward to our next visit where it won't be raining and we can sit at a picnic table and have another great meal! read more

This was opening day and what a beautiful restaurant they have. The market will be opening soon with lots of goodies to pick up besides your lunch. I grabbed my favorite param long song spicy with chicken and it was absolutely perfect. I also got a side salad with their peanut salad dressing and it was also perfect. The Tom kha soup is outstanding. It is one of my favorites. These are the former owners of the sweet chili Thai restaurant in Augusta that was by the airport and they have made a takeout place which does have counters that you can sit and watch out the windows if you want to eat there. It pains me to write this review because I had such high hopes after reading what everyone else had to say. Thai food is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE cuisine ever so when I found this place I was so excited. We ordered a green curry, pad-see-ew, Drunken noodles, crab Rangoons and fried rolls. Nothing really tasted like anything tbh. It was all pretty much one flat note. We ordered the Pad-See-ew without spice... so it literally tasted like nothing. The drunken noodles were bone dry and sticky, ordered with 3 star spice. It literally tasted like spicy nothing. No flavor, just a little heat. A mild heat for 3 stars. The dipping sauce that came with the rolls was delicious, but the rolls themselves fit the theme: zero flavor at all. The green curry tasted like a mild green curry but was severely missing that comforting umami flavor one tends to look for in a curry. Bland. The Rangoons were actually perfect for me, as I don't like crab and these had no trace or crab flavor. So for $75, we got some very good cream cheese Rangoons, flavorful dipping sauces, and about 5lbs of unflavored flat rice noodles, and some green milk. read more

Wow, this is one of the best Thai restaurants in Maine. So thankful that when they closed Sweet Chili Thai in Augusta that the owners opened Pinto Thai to go. They did not lose a step. The dishes cost a little more but it is totally worth it. This business is still so busy! Their phone is ringing non stop. Their curries are so flavorful. The pineapple fried rice with either chicken or shrimp are so good. I order it with three stars and it is perfectly seasoned and a bit hot but only to enhance the flavors. It's no surprise that the food here is excellent since these are the same people who ran the airport location. The new building is clean, spartan and now has a growing stock of asian condiments and foodstuffs to purchase. The only drawback is that it's entirely take out. Maybe next year some picnic tables would be welcome. Tried the basil stirfry, tom yum tofu and fresh spring veg rolls, all delicious and generous portions. Spice level is Maine-average so if you want more just ask. Friendly as always and only 20 minute wait close to lunchtime. A needed staple in this area! read more

I'm so happy to have great Thai food so close to my office again! I ordered the garlic tofu, which was delicious-- my only criticism is that it could have used some more veggies. Ordering online was easy, and when my food took less time than the online estimator said, I got a call letting me know, which I thought was great.
