The scenery, atmosphere, and overall property create a relaxing environment that feels very "Kentucky wine country." The staff was also incredibly friendly, welcoming, and wonderful with families and kids. The gift shop and tasting space itself functionally was not laid out in a way that made the experience especially easy or comfortable to enjoy. For those of you interested in tastings, there is nowhere comfortable to sit during the tasting process, unless you want to trade into plastic cups and head outside. This unintentionally created a rushed feeling, even though the staff themselves never pressured us. As for the wines, I tried the Cabernet Sauvignon, Equestrian Series, and Crimson Cabernet. I personally tend to lean towards drier, more robust wines, these felt fairly lackluster overall and lacked the depth and balance I personally look for in a wine that can either stand confidently on its own or pair beautifully with food. A few of the sweeter wines others in my group sampled came across far more grape-forward than expected and reminded me more of juice than a refined wine experience. (My overall impression was they paired more with $10 bottles than the prices that were asked) While the staff was clearly well-intentioned and friendly, the overall tasting experience lacked some of the seriousness, polish, and professionalism that you would expect from a true leader in the wine space. We had to request that glasses be emptied and cleaned between tastings, water was never offered between pours, and some of the finer details that elevate a winery experience simply felt overlooked. That said, this place has a lot of potential. Between the scenery, atmosphere, and welcoming team, I could absolutely see why Talon Winery would become a favorite spot for locals or visitors looking for a casual afternoon outing. The walking surface is crushed stone, so it is not like walking in a regular store. The majority of the spring flowers go fast right around Memorial Day and Kentucky Derby weekends. This greenhouse appears to deal primarily with Proven Winners merchandise. As such, you can be assured a robust and healthy plant specimen from good genetics. Pricing seemed a little high, especially for perennials. This may be Proven Winners MSRP and not necessarily controlled by the family business. This would be my go to for a greenhouse in the Harrodsburg area. They also have a small amusement park for school aged children, that is open during certain days and hours. I don't know much about it, but from the road, the rides look clean, newer and well maintained. We do not have children so it has not been part of our experience. Daynabrook has a number of "pop up" satellite locations to service your flower needs as well. This is a family run business and therefore, I prefer to shop at such places. Parking is ample on a stone lot, off of a quiet road. The greenhouse also borders the highway, making it an easily accessible location. Fall mums will be the next high demand product and we will indeed be back to buy them here.

When we visited, there were seven wines to be tasted for $8 and the tasting fee is waved if you buy a bottle of wine. The winemaker and owner Brian is a true gem - he works by himself but made all of his customers feel important while he had to run tastings, answer the phone, and check people out. He took the time to get to know everyone's names and you can tell he is immensely proud of his wine. All of the wines are award winners. We took a few bottles home to enjoy at home in NY!
