Met up with a friend for dinner and I suggested this place as a midway point and to check it out. The place looks small from the outside but once you step inside it's fairly spacious and roomy. The place has a very relaxed vibe and lends itself to very casual lunch and dinners. The server was very polite and helpful and was patient with us in taking our order as we were chatting it up. My friend ordered the Poké bowl, which she said she really enjoyed and I ordered a miso soup, a winter roll, and a California roll. I ordered two because the portions are usually pretty small and I was pleasantly surprised to see the rolls here were fairly large! The flavor was pretty consistent and good through out the bites. I will definitely be adding this place to my sushi options for when I'm in Arlington! It's not at all fancy and the murals on the wall are pretty nice. I'm new to the area and I haven't had a chance to try the local sushi places until now. Located in the strip mall and at first appearance it looks small but there is plenty of space inside. At first there was only one other table but quickly more patrons arrived. I have to say the service was excellent and attentive but only until I was finished eating. They kind of forgot about me after I was done. Do not expect authentic Japanese, I didn't see that here. That's ok to me as long as the food is spot on. Ordered four rolls and a ginger salad. Spicy Tuna, Philadelphia, Calamari, and a Shrimp Tempura. The ginger dressing was too acidic for me, had a bad taste to it. The sushi itself, the rice was a bit over cooked which makes it too soft and mushy. The spicy tuna with the rice was super bland. The other rolls with the cream cheese, fried shrimp and calamari had a bit more flavor because of the Eel sauce. I had to drench my rolls into soy and spicy mayo to salvage the experience. To me it's a one and done kind of place. I've been to some amazing sushi places, this establishment doesn't make the cut in terms of sushi. read more

What a pleasant surprise this placed turned out to be! I read another review about its outside appearance and location is quite deceiving! It sure was because the inside was very clean, well lit and very accommodating. Decor was simple and set up to be a no nonsense vibe and all about the food and service. Their menu has a very good and wide selection with the usual type of ramen you'd expect. Nothing out of the ordinary and weird fusion that tends to be odd tasting. Perfect to me because I like traditional. It makes it easier to judge the broth on how well it's flavored. Another big plus was they had black roasted garlic oil you can request to your ramen! My favorite!!! Sushi selection was adequate and again none of the weird creations my family and I do not really care for! They're not trying to be trendy with unique stuffs on their menu, just good quality and fresh sushi! Staff was very attentive and friendly! Our server was actually the one that recommended the black roasted garlic oil! That's not normally an option you can add to any ramen, only with a specific ramen recipe. This will be our new go to place for sushi and ramen for the foreseeable future! I just wished I had come here sooner! We have been to Sushi & Ramen twice now and both time it was very good. We need to go here more often maybe we will. Great service very friendly plenty of seating very casual strip mall setting. Food come out fast not a long wait. Never had to wait to be seated but they have had a nice crowd in the place. We tried many of the items good selection of appetizers. The Goyza and Shrimp Tempura is good. As for the ramen and sushi both very tasty. They have plenty sushi rolls to pick from all made to order. A good variety of ramen bowls we have tried the Miso ramen, Pork Kimchi and Chachu ramen all very good and plenty of food. The menu has a large variety of food to pick from. Service is always quick and attentive, and their servers never keep you waiting even when the place is handling their lunch rush. Speaking of: they have a $7 lunch special if you're looking for a quick deal. And if you're looking for something not a ton of places have, try the katsudon bowl! It's delish. But why review now if I've been going here for years? Their newest menu item pushed it over the top for me: Birria ramen! The spicy, but not too spicy, beef stew is the perfect winter warmer. Served with radish, onion, cilantro, and limes, it pairs the savory consume with tender chunks of meat and perfectly slurpable noodles. Overall, I rate it at a 4.5. We've been here a couple of times and have been really pleased each time. Now I'm no sushi or ramen expert but the food here has been really good. Some of my snobby friends would ask if it's authentic ramen. Hell I don't know I'm not from Japan. All I know is that it is really good. We always get some type of appetizer, a ramen each, and a sushi roll or two and always leave stuffed. The service is always friendly and there is normally a decent crowd so I guess they are doing something right. One of my favorite things is they are BYOB. I've come here two times, both times the food just didn't hit the mark. Today I bought the yakisoba and firecracker roll. The yakisoba was mostly aldente cabbage and also there was celery? The flavor overall was not the best but it's a big portion. You might love the flavor I just didn't. The sushi rice felt overcooked and the crunchy pieces on top of the roll were stale likely from it being homemade and left out a bit. Seems like prices have gone up, here--it was about $48, without tip, for takoyaki, two bento boxes, a Calpico, and green tea. Perhaps reflective of inflationary pressures, or just of the local college economy. On the positive side, all the items we had were good, decent quality. Miso soup was good, fresh tofu. The tuna and salmon sashimi in the bento boxes had not a bit of questionable fishiness; the eel rolls and shrimp nigiri were as expected, with soft rice. Tempura veggies were crispy, and the edamame was perfectly tender, not rubbery. The takoyaki was probably the best of all, soft and a little squishy on the inside, with a good chunk of octopus. It was a good meal in a quiet environment that very much refreshed my soul. On the negative side, prices are a bit too high for fairly pedestrian sushi. The green tea is mass-produced store bought quality--think Uncle Ben's. The octopus in the takoyaki was rather hard, and the bonito flakes on top didn't curl and move with the temperature/moisture of the takoyaki--probably a serving issue. The tempura was a bit too oily, like happens when the oil isn't hot enough. None of these alone would be enough to keep me away, but considering the quality is on-par with good quality store bought sushi, and the prices rather above, I likely won't go out of my way to return--maybe if I was in the area. Not particularly authentic, I'm not sure that any of the staff was Japanese, but didn't mind it at all. The location is slightly awkward, so if you go at a particularly busy time, you might have to stalk people in the lot to get a space. The staff was courteous and my order took only about 10 minutes. I love how I was able to walk over to Bethany's and grab some boba to have with my sushi! My sushi roll was pretty solid! Good quantity and fresh ingredients. You know when you walk into a place and nobody is there, when every instinct in you screams get out now, I should have listened! The broth sucked with no flavor! The noodles were terrible, over cooked. All the meats and seafood in it was overcooked, tough and chewy. The spicy salmon and spicy yellow tail rolls tasted awful! It was the worse sushi I've ever eaten. The manager was very rude and wasn't accommodating at all. I have a feeling they knew the food is sewage here. I had the shoyu ramen. It had alot of bamboo shoots, but still good. Not much flavor but it filled me up and I was satisfied.
