How do I describe Pirate O's...... unique, unusual and absolutely delightful! This fun store has an assortment of candies-and not the boring stuff you'd see at any other store. Nope, these are things you might remember from your childhood or perhaps from your world travels. Lots of variety! And even some candied insects, if that's your thing. In addition to candy, there are other kitchen treats. Teas, crackers, pasta, sauces and even a deli. Really, this place has a little bit of everything. The service is exceptional-everyone that I interacted with was very pleasant. Nobody acted at all like a pirate. This is a cool little place that I look forward to returning to when I want something just a little out of the ordinary. read more

Go in and wander around. They have the same Beemans gum my grandma used to keep in her purse. Lots of chocolates, snacks, drinks, sauces, pastas, teas, and coffees. Head to the lunch counter. All the sandwiches are good and they have drinks inside a cold case you e never tried before. I especially like their #15 hot Turkey-bacon-smoked Gouda with chipotle mayo and tomato hazelnut pesto. How did I not know of this place before?? A fellow neighbor told me about this place for good, spicy salsas and I stopped by on a whim. Holy heck, their varieties of salsas were SO good, and they have a whole wall of hot sauce!! Their brands of hot sauce aren't your generic tobasco or cholula, but lots of interesting ones! I've tried lots of spicy salsas and got hooked on a ghost pepper salsa at Meier's, but this place has their own and it was good!! They also have a spice level above that, with their reaper salsa! I found this store because I was watching Hot Ones on YouTube and I was looking for some realllllly hot hot sauce. When I arrived, I realized I was hungry and was happy there was a deli there as well. From the outside, the deli looks great and the store is awesome. The food though, eh. I personally went with the chicken salad, and the bread ratio was all messed up. There was way too much bread, and only a little bit of chicken sandwich. If it was actually moist bread, I would have been okay with it but this one was dry as any I've had. My friend got the veggie sandwich and refused to eat it since the avocado was very brown. My niece got the Mac and cheese, and the Kraft Mac looked worse than usual. Not a great eating experience, but I won't give them a 2-star since they were nice and the store is cool. They have sandwiches, I enjoy the meatball sandwich well enough. Sometimes it's prepared piping hot and I love it. Actually I think the difference is. In December they didn't have indoor dining area setup to give space for holiday items. I was OBSESSED with this store, I was on cloud 9 the first time I went in and literally told everyone I knew to go! LOVED IT! It was absolutely magical for me! Then I had the worst customer experience I have ever had... A lot of the stuff at the store is not labeled (no worries) so when I got to the register I asked if they could check the prices on somethings... one of the employees grabbed all the stuff, put it on the counter and said "we don't have time for this" and so I bought all the stuff being super flustered even though there was only one person behind me I later went to him and said in a kind way that what he did was not kind and he told me "what you did was crap" even though it wasn't my fault these certain items were not labeled, he then said "I don't have time for this" and Walked off. I told the manager and she asked me if I apologized for the inconvenience and said it's hard when a customer need to check prices and they are understaffed which is understandable but asking me if I apologized for the inconvenience and complaining about me didn't help and honestly shocked me... We came here looking for some specialty soda and spent way too much time looking around at all of their specialty goods. They have the best selection of cold specialty sodas that I have ever seen. There is this root beer I've been trying to find for a year and finally found it here. The shop itself looks like a has organically grown over the years. The store design is almost a horse shoe shape. Lots of fun imported foods that you can't find at your local grocer. The staff was friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back. read more

Usually, I would leave a 5-star review. However, last night's experience does not warrant anything more than two. I called ahead to ensure there weren't any special hours for the holiday weekend; I was told that their system was down but that they could take cash. I told them I would be there well before they closed and that I had cash. After driving across the valley, I arrived to find someone at the door telling me that they decided to close early. I told them that I had just had a phone call with someone from their store and that I needed to grab some specialty items for a birthday. The response was a sorry and a shrug. This place is one of a kind. It really shows how business owners can make a big impact in a community. I drove by here once and saw the joint and knew I had to stop in. So the wife and I peeked in last month and we were pleasantly surprised. We picked up one of their specialty gift baskets for my family. They had a big slew of gift baskets available with different themed items. You could also build your own gift bag basket which made it really cool. Honestly there is so much little cool knickknacks and goodies in there that we spent a lot of time just browsing. This is a great place to go if you're looking at pick up but one of a kind gift for a friend or family member. They make their own products too which is pretty unique. We love this place. It's close, there's all kinds of fun stuff, great for buying gifts or unique treats. Their cooler has plenty of different soda selections and cheeses. If you're a beer person, they have lots of that too. It's quaint, it's small town feel, it's neat. My one complaint is the smell. I have no idea what it is, but that place does not smell good. My dad seems convinced that it's sewage, I don't think it is, but I have no idea what it actually would be. If You go in with that understanding and expectation, the visit will be great. I haven't had their food from the cafe section, but I always get my dad a blended iced chai tea and he loves it. Said it's one of his favorite things. Every time I go to Pirate O's I am filled with wonder and awe. There is just so much to see and discover, it's hard not to spend several hours here. I just want to look at everything and they have so much stuff! I know, it's not a museum or an exhibit but everything here is so foreign to me, literally, that I just get so curious and want to see it all! The place just sucks you in! I think for the European in all of us, this place is a total delight. It has all of the products we are familiar with as travelers and for natives, Pirate O's might be like home away from home. And especially during the holidays, their selection can be more of an experience. Because the store is quaint and small with rickety wood floors, you feel like you've been transported to a different place and time during the Christmas season. My son and I love to come and see all of the different sweets, pasta, and cheese collections. And we especially love their chips and private label salsa. It's so good! It's the perfect place for little gifts and stocking stuffers or all the ingredients you need for a delicious meal. And if anything, just fun to visit! read more

A unique grocery store similar to Trader Joe's and World Market but offers a lot of local items. This is a cool place to get hard to find chocolates, snacks, cheese, beer etc etc. But you also have to get their sandwiches in their deli section. My buddies and I had lunch here and we enjoyed their awesome variety and selection. The price is so reasonable too. Thumbs way up for Pirate O's. read more

We have been wanting to try Pirate O's sandwiches for a long time. They only serve them M-Sat 11:00-3:00. They offer a variety of delicious sandwiches. I had the #7 Turkey and Swiss with the raspberry chipotle sauce. Darren had the #16 Pirate Pastrami. Both sandwiches were delicious. The price was fair for the size of the sandwich. There is a tiny bit of seating on the patio, but it's really more of a take out situation. I highly recommend the sandwiches at Pirate O's! read more

This place is so much fun! They offer tons of international and specialty foods that aren't available many other places. Prices are a little high, but then again these are specialty foods, so it's to be expected. I love their candy section, and all the crazy sodas. They have lots of neat pastas, cheeses, teas, etc. You can also order drinks here, and maybe prepared food? (I have not, but my friend ordered some sort of coffee drink and she said it was good). Alrighty, here we go. Went here for lunch and I got the meatball samich. The meatballs were fresh and flavorful. Each bite tastes as good as the previous bit. The sauce held up real well and tasted so so good! The bread was soft and warm too. With all the cheese and sauce the bread did not break apart. It was so good, that I wish I got another one to go. My friend has a Turkey and Havarti sandwich and it was great to her. The Reuben sandwich looked so good too. This is one of my favorite stores to get special items for holidays. But today we tried to pull in their parking lot which is a dirt not a paved parking area and it was completely iced over. We couldn't even exit our car! My husband and I are older and didn't feel we could take the chance of falling down. In fact the store could be in trouble if someone fell down due to the ice and be sued. so disappointed! They should really get someone to clear their snow off during snow storms or put in a paved parking lot. read more
