This was our 2nd time visiting this place. I have to say the first time was way better. I had chipped beef and the beef was sliced really thick. Great eggs benedict, Pirate's Den is the place place to eat on the island, especially for breakfast. The service is pretty quick, which helps because there can be a line out the door on weekend mornings. The place is pretty simple, with a beachy vibe that should be expected. I may be biased since I did work here for 10 years, but the PD does have the best breakfast in south jersey and the award and food to prove it. Breakfast is my favorite meal, with options such as french toast stuffed with mascarpone cheese & topped with raspberry sauce, sweet potato omelette, various types of eggs benedict, whole wheat pancakes with or without fruit in them, the list goes on and on. Lunch is an equally impressive selection with anything from a spinach salmon caesar salad (yum!), to burgers, to a turkey reuben. For dinner some of my favorites are the crab and pasta and chicken francaise, but they also have rotating fresh seafood options such as blackened tuna etc. The dinner salads are fresh - try the pepper parm dressing and get the twice baked potato with vegetables as a side to your meal. Big bonus is that they are BYOB and will provide you with setups for your beer or wine. Yes, the decor is beach themed, complete with a beach santa clause room in the back. All of the kick-knacks have been collected over the years by the owners, who by the way, are amazing. The restaurant is like a family with people who have worked there for 20 years. So support local business and eat at the Pirate's Den - you won't be disappointed! (prepare to wait for a table on weekends in the summer for breakfast!) read more

Food is decent and cheap. Its not the best breakfast around but its still quite good. Dining room is tight and it gets rather noisy at times. Not much ambience and there is some weird wall of photos of Santa at the beach. The decor is borderline tacky. It tries to emulate a cutesy cottagey look, but there is so much crap on the walls it looks rather cluttered and messy. *please read this review* We were there this morning for breakfast. A couple were in the restaurant eating breakfast but had their dog locked up outside in the car. The dog was in the car for over 45 minutes. The hostess asked who the owner was. The owner, in his 70s came outside and didn't like what the hostess and a few patrons were saying so he pushed the hostess, I mean physically pushed her. The hostess was crying. The cops came and the couple left. TEN minutes later, the couple came back and the OWNER re-sat them right in the middle of the restaurant for them to have breakfast. I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it with my own eyes. The hostess was visibly shaken when the couple was re-sat. The entire restaurant witnessed this. A few of us talked to the owner and he didn't care. He thought there was nothing wrong. This owner supported a verbally and physically abusive patron and humiliated his hostess. Went here for breakfast with my girlfriend and two great friends after a night out in AC. This place has a nice beach vibe and the sausage and cheese omelet that I ordered was awesome. My girlfriend got the eggs benedict dish while my friends got a similar omelet and an amazing pancakes dish. I was particularly impressed with the artwork that was hanging in the restaurant. Lots of really nice paintings that really gave off an authentic beach vibe. I recommend this place to anyone and for any occasion. :) read more

Pretty good! My husband and I had a late lunch here and it was a pretty quiet time of day which was great for us! We ordered fried calamari as our apetizer and it was delicious! I ordered the special of the day which was a flounder sandwich, cole slaw and fries. I have never eaten flounder before and felt it was a tad fishy for my taste but it was good after some lemon and tartar sauce. The fries were crisp just the way I like them and the coleslaw was good. My husband ordered the fried shrimp and fries and his shrimp were huge. Of course I had to taste and they tasted amazing! If we ever go back go AC I will definitely be returning for the shrimp! read more

The customers were disgusted by the man's behavior who verbally and physically abused his hostess. The owner will tell you he asked the hostess if she wanted him to do something to keep him out. He's the manger. He should have taken care of it. To see this customer come back and sit in the middle of the dining room again was horrible. Customers were horrified and the hostess was beyond in tears. Disgusting behavior by the manager and the abusive customer. We will not be back. read more

We visited the Pirates Den for breakfast on a weekday in September. Great food, great prices, and great location. The breakfast menu is full of lots of options, eggs, omelettes, pancakes, french toast and breakfast sandwiches. My husband and I shared the challah french toast and an omelette. Everything was delicious, the food came out quickly. The servers were very friendly! The resteruant is kid/family friendly, we came with our 3 year old son. Would definitely come back, and would love to try their lunch and dinner menu. read more

Our party of 9 ate at Pirates Den last Thursday. Nothing but good things to say about this place! Our table was ready for us when we arrived & they were most accommodating about dialing back the A/C (it was a bit chilly for some in our party). My family and I were in Brigantine yesterday and happened upon this place right across from the Seawall and Beach. We had very high hopes because of the menu and the ambiance of the place...but left very disappointed. The servers were not on top of the tables...no drink refills until you asked.....We purchased extra toppings on 2 of our salads for $10.00 each and the added topping was VERY SKIMPY...we even sent one of the salads back and they basically brought the same thing back after a few minutes. The server never apologized ...just basically said...I heard we got some things wrong...My crab wrap was basically lettuce, tomatoe, wrap & mayo and very few pieces of crab meat...Unfortunately we will never eat here again. I believe they are more of a breakfast place and we had lunch. read more

I visited here this past week while on vacation and the rumors are true: probably the best brunch I've ever had and so cheap. I got the special omelet of the day which had sweet potatoes, red onions, spinach and I forget what else. Delicious. So many veggies and cheese in the middle. We ate breakfast here, and it was delicious! They have funny signs all over the walls encouraging you to just freakin talk to each other. But one thing took the cake for me. We actually went running the next day and forgot water. There were no drinking fountains at the boardwalk, and it was sweltering. We went back into Pirates Den to see if they could spare some. They kindly gave us water, no problem, in the middle of a really busy breakfast run, and they were so nice about it. I am so grateful!!! read more

This place so completely disorganized. Went for dinner past Monday. Asked waitress price of chicken special. She said $15-. When it arrived, one of main ingredients was missing, the artichokes. Waitress said they ran out. It's a special! When we went to pay, I asked two people at register why a special would not have what was special. One shrugged and said it was not on menu and whatever was posted online was wrong. She then charged $18! When I told her the waitress said $15 and gave a different reason for not having what was supposed to be in it, both woman shrugged. When I said the price should be adjusted for both reasons, one showed me the board that said $18. Terrific if you are inside. We were outside and relied on waitress. On top of that, our veggie burger was cardboard. Never again! read more

Great food and friendly staff! Portions are large so keep that in mind when ordering. Dining room can fill up, outdoor setting is available. Only downside to outdoor seating is the Greenheads...a Brigatine thing. Prices are reasonable. read more

Brought my cousin from the midwest to one of my favorite places tonight. Left the men home and along with my girlfriend, sister in law and cousin, high tailed it to the Den. Two perfectly cooked NY Strips, fried shrimp, and a perfect broiled salmon with spinach and roasted peppers (my dinner) later, we left happy. I go there whenever I visit a friend on the island. We usually reserve a day for brunch. It's an adorable, local establishment with a lot of character. You definitely feel like you're on an island when you go there. The food is always fresh. Sometimes the wait is long, but it's worth it. The service is always good. I had the crab corn chowder and the flounder francaise. The soup was tasty and thick but quite under seasoned. The flounder was also good but in no way was it francaise.. It was s piece of grilled flounder on rice. It was very good but not what I expected. Also I dine alone in the fall because I'm down there working on our house. This place is totally ignorant of what gluten free means. I went there and told the waitress that I was gluten free. When I ordered dinner I asked about the twice baked potato ...ex.what is in it? She laughingly said it's a potato baked twice. I figured it was then a real potato. I ate it and had a reaction. I called the restaurant and asked what was it made from. She read me from the box of instant potatoes and then said it was processed in a facility that has wheat. So there you have it. read more
