Great food, always a great quick bite. I love the Eastern European pastries, and it's a place I always visit when in Seattle.

This spot never disappoints. Line moves fast and everything is delicious. Chicken curry is my fave.

I hadn't eaten Pierogi since I was in Poland 3 years ago, thankfully Leleka broke that dry spell!…read moreLeleka is Ukrainian, but Ukraine borders on Poland so pierogis are delightfully similar! $17 gets you two kinds of Pierogi, which you can opt for pan fried at no extra charge, which I did twice to the disdain of traditionalists and purists, but pan fried pierogi just taste so much better to me! I ordered two bowls! Lamb: grass fed ground lamb, ginger and mint, and my favorite of them all! The fresh herbs really enhance the succulent gamey lamb meat. Dip in the garlic sauce or sour cream if you'd like, but they're good on their own. Beef: grass fed beef and onion, Ukrainian raviolis? That might be insulting, sorry! But they are my 2nd favorite. Potato Cheese: great whether you're a vegetarian or not! The smooth creamy mash potato blends perfectly the soft melted cheese. Try it with a sauce. 3rd place! Salmon: my least favorite of the pierogis, but still quite delicious! The salmon is mixed with green onion, parmesan, making this lovely creamy texture. Loved the black color! $2: Carrot salad...light, zesty, pickly, and pleasant! $8 Kyiv Cake: lovely, sweet, creamy, and with some nice crunchy cookie-style parts.

We also shared Sausage piroshki. Everything was delicious. It tasted fresh and warmed us up. It was not greasy so my stomach was fine! Tables are like communal picnic tables, very friendly. Will be back!

I am so happy we finally got an opportunity to have home-cooked Russian comfort food in Monterey…read morepeninsula. We used to drive to SJ/ SF area just to get borsch or piroshki, and now we can order all this from Sofia's. For our first time, we ordered lamb rice pilaf for 6 people, vinaigrette salad and sweet strawberry cream cheese pie. It was a real feast! Not only it was yummy (the lamb was melting in the mouth and the pie was better than the ones I tried from the local bakeries), the portions were huge, so we still have some pilaf left in our freezer. The communication was very easy and we even requested the pie off the menu. Our friends and family really liked the food (even though they never tried Russian dishes before). I highly recommend this if you want to try good quality Russian food. It also a great service for big parties, holidays or as an easy meal prep if you are enable to cook/ have children .

I might even say that Mama Sofia's food surpasses some of the food we've had in restaurants. We picked up from their home in a quaint neighborhood - it took a minute to wait for the food to be packed up to take home, but it was worth the wait, as most of it was still warm from just being prepared. A couple recommendations on what to get: eggplant/tahini dip, borscht (perfect flavoring and ratio of beets/cabbage to soup), blinchiki (beef, chicken), pastry with cream cheese and strawberry jam (but make sure you have people to share this with!)
