How could a savory marinara create sweet tears? We will never know. The crust was strong enough to support the structure of the calzone without falling apart, but while still maintaining softness and pockets of air. Air and joy. They were generous with the cheese without overwhelming me with it. And the meatballs were rolled together with a good balance of spices, meat, and (most likely) a baby's delighted laughter. Two weeks ago I ordered some cheese pizza for my daughter and I. I have heard very good things about the restaurant and I was looking for a nice local pizza place. So I thought Pisa Pizza was going to be a great place. The food arrived and so we dove in. All was going well until my daughter screamed and spit out her food. She told me there was a long strand of hair in her food. We were grossed and disgusted. I knew it could not be my daughter's hair because she has dyed pink hair. My elementary school used to order from here for special occasions and it was glorified in this rarefied air as something heavenly (in significance of the school pizza being one of those radical rectangular flavorless cardboards but I digress). It wasn't until I came back here weeks ago after my rotation wrapped up around here (preceptor was so nice to take me out for lunch) that I remembered why but this definitely took me down a delicious nostalgia trip. Their lunch special for two big slices of pepperoni was ~$3 which is crazy cheap - almost matches the price for mythologized dollar slice pizzas in NY. The price doesn't undercut the quality of the pizza and is probably one of the best spots to nab pizza in the Greater Boston area. How is it that I have not only lived in the general area of Malden for my entire life but I have actually lived in Malden for a few years now and just went in here for the first time recently??? I am always looking for a place where I can get a pitcher and pizza and of course everyone loves The Jug but sometimes you just want something different. I went on Yelp and typed in pizza and beer. Pisa came up and although I have driven by it many times, I had no idea there was beer inside let alone seating and not just any seating but huge tables and booths! I always thought it was a take out/delivery place... So, I head on into Pisa and believe my excitement when I saw that they had pitchers of beer and to boot, Miller Lite on tap! Any Miller Lite fans out there will know that this is hard to come by in our neck o' the woods! The pizza was really good, I was impressed and the beer wasn't flat which is obviously appreciated. Pisa would have gotten my 5 star review but the surly waitress was not my favorite. I know that some people prefer that in their servers, "it gives the place character" and what not, but if I ask you for a to go box please do not roll your eyes at me. I can see you. After viewing the yelp reviews and growing tired of the same old local takeout places my husband and I decided to try Pisa Pizza. After our experience here I get the feeling that the 5 star reviews for this place are from locals who happen to be very supportive of their community. It seems that Pisa Pizza supports many community functions and their patrons are just returning the favor. We ordered a deluxe pizza, chicken parm calzone and some boneless wings. The pizza was decent. The ingredients tasted fresh and the sauce was tasty. However it was far from being one of the best. Also want to add that when something is advertised as thin crust pizza I expect it to be thin, not just thinner than your other option. In fact, I'd say half of the pizza had thick crust while the other half was normal. The wings were ok. I liked the sauce but it vaguely reminded me of every other honey BBQ variation I have ever tried. The calzone was disappointing but again, that's mostly because my expectations were so high. All in all I wouldn't call this a bad experience and I certainly will eat the left overs for dinner tonight but I won't be going out of my way to visit Pisa pizza again. read more

A friend has been raving about this place for quite a while so I finally decided to try it out. Had a small Hawaiian pizza and a salad. The sauce and toppings were delicious but the crust was burned. I don't mean it was a little over done - it was black on the bottom and the slice held on its own when held by the (burned) crust edge. It was bad enough that I decided to pick the toppings off of the last two slices. The bottom of the reciept had the words "We are only as good as our last slice". I probably won't be back. read more

We usually order veggie delux and the consistency of the bottom crust is amazing. The portion of all veggie is great, but we never had all veggies as it said in the menu. Where do I begin. The pizza is amazing and the subs are top notch. I usually go with the Deluxe and it's a massive Pizza with all the meat and vegetables you'd want on a pizza. The fried chicken sub is huge too and a great value. I fell in love with this place because of the good food but also how much they give back to the community. My fiancé and I always get pizza from Pisa Pizza to the point where we had them cater our engagement party. Occasionally we'll try other local spots and we always regret it, nothing compares to Pisa Pizza. Team there is great, nice, and very personable. Can't say enough about Pisa Pizza.
