The mac & cheese. I ate most of it. It's not bad it just doesn't taste like homemade.
    Debbie W.

I love Pistol Joe's! Every time I come home I try to stop by and get something to eat. I love their pulled pork and their fried chicken is probably the best I've ever had from a restaurant! They poke holes in the top of your to go container so that when you get home the crust on your chicken isn't soft bc it was steamed from the heat inside the box. They cook it to order which I love. Their brisket is delicious! You can taste the smoke and it's juicy and tender. But my very, very favorite is their ribs! They only have them on certain days. And bc I can only get Pistol Joe's when I'm home and have the time I don't always remember what days that is. I say this bc if my memory serves me correctly, they used to have a little tiny bifold board that sat on the counter in front of the cashier who takes your order that stated whether or not they had ribs that day. So Fri I went in and I didn't see that they had ribs (and I should have just asked, so that's my fault) so I ordered some chicken and then there was an an actual menu laying there (as opposed to the chalkboard hanging from the wall) and it said ribs Wed-Fri. So I quickly asked if they had ribs and the cashier said yes. So I changed my order immediately so I could get some of those ribs. When I went to get my sweet tea the owner (I'm assuming) called my name to let me know my order was ready. When I take my bag I look down and I see the little bifold sign sitting by where the cups are (to the left of the cashier and behind her) and it says ribs Wed-Fri. That's the sign that is usually in front of the cashier. The other side listed desserts or something, I actually can't remember. So I said to him I didn't realize you had ribs today until I saw the actual printed menu bc I'm used to the little bifold board saying whether or not you have ribs. He pointed to a spot underneath the big chalkboard and said "always look here to see if we have ribs that day". Which is fine, from now on I will look below the bottom right corner of the chalkboard to see if they have ribs but they still have that little bifold sign so why not use it? I mean I get if you're not using it anymore but when it's sitting there off to the side maybe get rid of the sign or put it back in front of the cashier. That's just my suggestion. Bc I'm so glad I glanced down at the printed menu bc they have some of THE best ribs (maybe the best) in town. You don't need any sauce. The flavor, the smoke, the tenderness of the ribs stand alone and don't need sauce. They are cooked to perfection! They pull away from the bone just by biting into them (fall of the bone ribs are not how you cook perfectly smoked ribs, they have to stay on the bone until you bite into them). And with the seasoning and the smoke it makes for a heavenly experience. I tried their mac & cheese a long time ago and didn't care for it so I never get it but I did this time around to see if anything had changed. Nope, nothing changed. Their mac & cheese tastes like boxed mac & cheese and if it's not I would be totally shocked. The only difference is that they have a lot of pepper in theirs, which I'm ok with bc I love pepper. But it definitely looks and tastes like boxed mac & cheese. I love their other sides. I would just avoid the mac. The staff is always friendly and the food comes out quickly unless you get fried chicken, you have to wait 15 minutes but it's worth the wait. When I changed my mind about the chicken when I realized they had ribs the young lady behind the register called out to the cook (owner? I'm not sure) and said change that chicken to ribs and he jokingly said "nope, no changing your order". We all laughed, that's another reason why I love this place is bc they treat you like friends. Give them a try, you won't be sorry. I got my order on Fri and it's Sun evening and I'm getting ready to eat my last rib. I've had them for the last 2 nights and I only go a half a rack. They know what they're doing with smoking meats.

Worst fried chicken I have ever eaten.

I cannot believe that someone actually looked at the fried chicken and decided to serve it to a customer. Just mind boggling. It was a to go order so the box wasn't opened until it arrived to our home 45 minutes later. The breast was so overcooked it was inedible. It no longer had the expected texture or flavor you get when you enjoy the mellow crunch and juiciness of fried chicken. Ugh! Just awful.

The order was ready fast. The brisket was dry and the coleslaw tasted like it was ruined. Didn't have a barbecue sauce I liked personally, the options they had available were too spicy for me. Paid 60 dollars and was not impressed. Deserts tasted stale

Clean place, friendly and fast service. I ordered smoked chicken with a side of collards (it came with cornbread too). The cornbread was excellent. The collards were made from fresh greens rather than a can, however I felt like $5 was too much given the small portion and they were kind of plain. The portion of chicken also seemed small and could have used a little more flavor. The sauces provided were good. The tray you see here was $15 including a drink, not in photo.

Yup, this is a good one! Located on Rte 170 in S.C. An owner- operated bbq place with friendly staff. Owner was smoking meat out back and came over to say hi. Clean diner style. You order and prepay at the counter. Pulled pork was moist and flavorful. Mac'n Cheese real good comfort food. I recommend you try all the sauces-they're on the table. My favorite was the house's signature cherry sauce. I dove right into my meal so I forgot a picture, so I took one of the building sign!

Southern hospitality found here with country music filling the air waves! The wood pile and smoking pit in back of the restaurant indicate legit smoked BBQ. The interior is open, natural light filled space with comfy booths lining the exterior walls. Plenty of choices on their menu with pulled pork, pulled chicken and ribs rounding out the BBQ. Sauces are homemade including sweet Cherry, yellow mustard, Carolina vinegar, spicy red, and about 10 sides to choose from. Want to wash down your BBQ with beer? They have that, too: domestic-$2.50, import -$3.50, and specialty -$3.50. If vino is your preference they have Rose, white and red @ $6. Tonight we ordered pulled pork and pulled chicken, To Go, to eat with fresh vegetables we had prepared at home. Both the pork and chicken were delicious, Smokey, and moist! Also, the banana pudding was as tasty as the other Yelp reviewers testified! We look forward to returning when in the area!

SUPER menu & homemade food. It is evident that care is taken preparing all food. Meat is always tender and flavorful with or without sauce. Sides are not an afterthought. They are really good. Ambiance is diner-style but comfortable. Service is on point.

My mom said her oysters were really good & I did try the okra and it was delicious. My brisket was good, very juicy, tender & tasty. Another reviewer said the cabbage was overcooked and that's his opinion but in my opinion that's how southern cooked cabbage should be.
