Clean place, friendly and fast service. I ordered smoked chicken with a side of collards (it came with cornbread too). The cornbread was excellent. The collards were made from fresh greens rather than a can, however I felt like $5 was too much given the small portion and they were kind of plain. Yup, this is a good one! Located on Rte 170 in S.C. An owner- operated bbq place with friendly staff. Owner was smoking meat out back and came over to say hi. Clean diner style. You order and prepay at the counter. Pulled pork was moist and flavorful. Mac'n Cheese real good comfort food. I recommend you try all the sauces-they're on the table. Pistol Jo's Cherry Point is a little hard to find but I recommend you take the effort and find it! It reminds me of the renowned Southern Soul BBQ in St. Simons, GA. Pistol Jo's is next to a gas station, Southern Soul is a converted gas station! They both deliver some of the best BBQ I have had. I particularly love the Smoked Brisket. Couple that with the Sweet Cherry based sauce mixed with just a dash of the Spicy Hot sauce and you have a winner! Couple that with slaw, bbq beans or collard greens and you can't go wrong. Owner operators Pitmaster Pete and his wife Jo run a tight ship and are super friendly. The place is casual, has the feeling of a cool diner. The Ribs are also excellent with a great Rub. We are on a road tip and found this place through Yelp. Is it a little off of 95? Yes. Is it worth the drive? Also yes! Our party had brisket, smoked Turkey, brisket chili along with sides that included Mac and cheese, coleslaw and sweet potato fries. The chunks of brisket in the chili weren't messing around and it was a delicious low spicy level. The coleslaw is like the kind your great aunt Mabel brought to family gatherings-delicious! On and the cornbread!! Can't forget the moist tasty cornbread! This is a place where you order at the counter and then sit down and wait for your food. The booths are comfortable. The service was good the food was plentiful the ribs was great as well as the pulled pork and fried pork chops. The fried okra had a huge portion. Prices were very reasonable. The real shining star were the homemade sauces- amazing! If I could only have 1 bbq sauce for the rest of my life I would choose the sweet cherry. The only tiny drawback for me is I would cook my collards longer but that's just personal preference. Awesome no frills bbq place. We will be back. Again and again. read more

I asked for Alabama white BBQ sauce for my turkey sandwich and it was very good. The slaw was delicious, not sweet like other slaw at most BBQ places and the fried okra was right out of the fryer. Their baked beans were too sweet for my taste, but did have brisket in them. I took off one star due to not having brisket on the menu. We will return. read more
