This place is just consistently a stand out BBQ place. The interior is very nice, tables are spaced out enough to allow conversation. Service is great. They aim to please! Cocktails come out quickly and so does the food. And the food is honestly outstanding. Great BBQ meats done in house. The beef is done a day ahead so it can marinate (or whatever that's called). I've had a lot of good BBQ in my life, all over the country, and this is hands-down some of the best I've ever had. The meats are all perfectly one. The sides are all amazing, too, from the standards like collards and mac'n'cheese, to the inventive and seasonal specials. The location is a bit tucked back from the road, and really beautiful. Overall food is decent nothing special. Brisket had too much char for our taste, but pretty good once you trim it off. Ordered a "double/neat" whiskey, waiter came back and said they don't serve doubles or neat so I ordered a single and had to remove the ice myself. Great environment for a low-country meal. The staff are very welcoming. Reservations necessary. This place books up quickly. We ate at the bar (happy this was an option) and couldn't have enjoyed it more. Our bartender, Nisha, was fabulous and treated us very well as she was doing double duty. She was very attentive even though she was a busy girl behind the bar. The food was so good. My husband got the brisket platter and it didn't disappoint. Owner was insulting, rude and belligerent. Absolutely embarrassed me in front of all the patrons and my guests over a (confirmed) reservation when we arrived (on time). While I did have trouble setting the reservation from 2 to 4 on line, I left a note and my phone number if there was an issue. I have never been talked to like that at any restaurant in my life. He claimed he had to re-seat everyone but there were 5 empty tables for 4 that remained that way during our entire meal. Rustic vibe, half the place is closed off. We arrived at 5:30 (they opened at 5) and the restaurant was pretty empty until 7, when we left. The bbq meat was delicious, my favorite was the pulled chicken as well as the bees knees cocktail. The burger was insanely salty, and was cooked to well done despite being asked for medium. When we arrived there was only one party seated and no one at the hostess stand. When we were at our table waiting for our food we could hear the wait staff yelling into the kitchen about the substitutions my husband asked for his burger. Good ribs and sides. You pay a lot for barbecue. Probably just personal taste but I like my bbq from a shack with a cutout sheet metal sign. Preferably rusty with a grade B from the health dept. but if you like white tablecloths under your smoked meats this is your place as the food is indeed very good. read more

We had four in our party. Greeted and seated nicely. We love the interior. It is different than most smokehouse joints. RH serves good meats and delicious sides with a little more of an upscale (??) flair. Restaurant tables and booths with woodsy feel. Lighting isn't blaring so that was spectacular. We went with another couple, family meetup. There were also Date-Nighters and a birthday party + couple of casual diners. All were smiling and service seemed on point. Our waitress Deanna was fantastic! Two hot brisket - very good! Two others got diff kinds of ribs. YUMMY. The sides were plenty and super. Tastes are tastes and there are so many. Had a great experience here! The pulled chicken plate was amazing and you were given a very large portion of meat. Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries were very good as well! My (now) wife and I went back in the fall of 2018. I'm deciding to review this now because I just spent a half hour reminiscing and trying to figure out where we ate. I still remember the day very vividly. We were visiting Charleston and Savannah for the first time, and on our in-between travel day we stopped along the way in Beaufort in the afternoon. We were both hungry and it was a Monday night, and this was literally the only place on the way that was still open. We got in about 10 mins before they were due to close, but they were still very happy to serve us (we were the only people inside). We've had a lot of good BBQ in our day and I remember being very pleasantly surprised by such an unassuming place. The inside looked to be quite "upscale" (for lack of a better word) for a BBQ joint,! which normally look pretty dive-y in my experience. Maybe it was because we were so hungry, but we both really liked everything we ate. Right around this time I also went from being a BBQ hater to considering it amongst my favorite cuisines (I won't go so far as to say this place was what started my BBQ kick, but it certainly might have been). Either way, to this day, whenever I think of a stereotypical Southern BBQ place (in the middle of nowhere with good food), this is the place that pops in my mind. I'm glad I finally figured out the name of the place (thanks to Pokerface episode 3 for making me hunt it down). Definitely would like to make it back at some point! read more

This place is a hidden gem! We feel lucky to have found it!! It's got the best meat around!! We don't eat a lot of meat either, but this place is amazing!! We've been there 4 times, each time was a home run! The quality of the food, and the prices, just unbelievable!!!! It feels like you are going to a friends house, but better! It's got a nice feel to it, not very crowded but still good to make reservations!!! Great and friendly service, great portions, and amazing flavors!! I am a local and wanted to try this place for a while, it got mixed reviews and now I know why. The wait staff was the bright spot, young lady was pleasant and fast, Host was not pleasant at all and was really a negative. The food, well, mixed review at best. My partner had the special prime rib. It was medium to medium well and the waitress told us that ahead of time. Flavor was good and good smoke flavor. I had a brisket and chicken combo plate, both meats were terrible, brisket was dry, and cool temp. The chicken tasted more like boiled than smoked and then shredded and tossed in a mediocre sauce. Neither worth having again. The sides were no better, the "special" Mac and Cheese, burnt ends was terrible, watery, very little cheese flavor, I mean, craft Mac and cheese has more cheese flavor. But the most disappointing thing was the damn salad before the meal. It was a house salad, nothing special, and it had old mealy tomatoes in it, they tasted rancid and disgusting. Why you need a reservation to eat here befuddles me. A family of 4 was turned away because they didn't have a reservation. Come on, this place needs someone to eat this food because this was my first and last time doing so. read more

Came in on a Friday for dinner and when someone finally acknowledged we were waiting for a table we were told very rudely that they probably couldn't serve us because we didn't make a reservation. There were plenty of empty tables within sight so after sitting waiting for about 20 minutes we walked out. Went there right when they opened at 5. Only people at the restaurant no hostess at the front. Finally got seated. We ordered some water and one drink. They didn't know how to make a tequila sunrise. We ordered the devilish eggs which were good and ordered the burnt ends. They were cold and not charred at all. Took forever for the waitress to come back and check in on us. She took back the cold burnt ends and brought us some warmed up ones. We ordered our dinner. The brisket was dried out, the pulled pork was room temperature, the bbq chicken dried out. The only thing that seemed cooked correctly was the smoked sausage and pork ribs. I understand Covid19 is effecting all small restaurants but if you open at 5 you should be staffed by competent bartenders, cooks and servers. Def won't be coming back. My husband and I are regulars at this restaurant and we absolutely give it 10/10. It's a great ambiance, be very inviting and the atmosphere is calming to be in. We typically sit at the bar because after a long week working, there's nothing like a Raspberry Pomegranate mule and an Apple Butter Old Fashion from the bartender Chris! (which the Apple butter recipe was made by the Host/Manager David), and both of those drinks are something you can't leave without tasting! Tod, who is the head chef has always picked out our appetizers and our entrees and he's never missed on the selection down to the quality of the food. I know this review is lengthy, but that's just how great the food, service, quality and ambiance is at this restaurant! Best Rib-eye literally I ever had . 12oz of pure joy. Medium rare was perfect... flavors true to perfection. Garlic mashed not overpowering served hot. Haricot vert ( type of green bean served al dente. Wine list small but impressive..some smaller producers included. Needs Improvement-Prime Rib only served Rare or Medium Rare- not fair. My husband enjoys medium +. Obviously kitchen has a way to up cook. Also a printed after dinner drink list would be great read more

TLDR? Go somewhere else for BBQ. Passing through, wanted BBQ, other better rated places were closed. I arrived near 6 pm on a rainy Monday. I came in and there was a man moving about behind the bar which is near the door. He saw me and asked from across the room, "what I wanted?" Not much of a welcome. I was taken to the dining room offered a table that seats two but was very dark with indirect lighting on these tables and direct on the larger tables. There were three tables occupied in a large room. I asked to sit on the other side of the building near the bar and was told that was closed. So I asked about sitting at the larger well lit tables and I was told they were either reserved or they were closed for social distancing. I was shown the other side of the dinning room to small tables along that a wall. Same problem, no direct light. I look over and see two groups of diners on tables that were right next to each other, no social distancing. Those groups were not together, as they never interacted with each other while I was there. FFS. I just take the table I'm given, but I'm not happy because I've already been lied too and not treated like a customer but someone showing up for a delivery, so know that. I order the combo platter with 4 of 5 bbq meats on offer. I don't get BBQ chicken. I choose Mac n' cheese and sweet potato fries. It also comes with a corn bread muffin. No drinks. I've already decided I'm not given this establishment any more money than necessary. So, water it is. It may be dark to see the food well, but I can still taste the food and this is where this place continues to fall flat on its face. The platter arrives quickly and I dig in. Not knowing where to start, I begin with the sweet potato fries as I like mine hot. They are not hot. They have been out of the fryer for quite a long time as the seasoning is dried to the fries. So I try the Mac n' Cheese. I get a fork full and it's barely warm. I get some from the middle and it is chilled. That's right, it just wasn't cool but it was cold like it just came from the fridge. The corn bread muffin was tasteless, not sweet or savory, just a mouthful of corn bread, and it also is cool. I send the sides back and they are replaced but the fries are still cool and the corn bread is still horribly tasteless. The Mac n' Cheese is warmer but not exactly hot. But the middle was at least warmer, almost hot. I hate this place already and now I really just want to leave. I understand that when there is not the throughput required of a much fuller dining room (there were 10 other people) that it is hard to prepare everything to closer to when you need it, but fresh and warm food is the minimum required and it is clear this is not the case. This place probably would not pass a health inspection based on the temperature of the food. So the meats. The pork ribs are moist, but I get the smaller end and its full of cartilage. The flavor and smoke is good, but again, the meat is cool. The brisket was the best of all the meats, good flavor and moist. Still, the meat is cool. There is a decent smoke flavor to this. The sausages were overcooked and dry, absolutely no moisture in them so They really don't taste of smoke. I try my best to drown them in sauces on the table to no avail. Once again, the meat is cool. The pulled pork was ok. It wasn't quite as moist as I'd like it, but not like the overcooked sausages. This too requires a lot of sauce to lubricate it. The smoke taste was ok, and the meat was cool. Since I'm having water and the water cup holds roughly 8 ozs, I empty it faster than the service person can fill it. Because some of the meat is dry I'm drinking a lot of water. I'm left wanting more often than the waiter is around. At some point I asked to have the bottle left there. I noticed there was only one waiter and he is serving me and three other tables. He is attentive enough for me. It was a mistake coming here. I understand that trying to keep BBQ warm enough through the time when open can be difficult because you don't want it to dry out in the warmer, but there is no excuse for the sides and they are not going to win any awards for that corn bread muffin. When food gets cooled to lukewarm or less, it won't taste good. Overall, the food here was not worth my effort to come here. Maybe they can do a steak better since that is made to order? Don't come for the BBQ. If you do, don't bother with the sausages or the pulled pork. Maybe get the ribs. The brisket was the best of the meats and probably the safest. The sauces. They brought 4 sauces to the table. Meh. The Texas and KC sauces were the worst, no bold flavors. The Carolina based sauces were ok but you can get better sauces at walmart. If I could give this place zero stars for the cold food, the horrible reception and the poorly lit room, I would. Just stay away. read more
