Came here because I always pass by this place and it's near my apartment! Checked out their website and they don't use seed oils which is a plus. I got the Chicken Bowl. Chicken Bowl - I love the customization, and it is so fairly priced. The roasted carrots were so delicious (probably the highlight of the bowl), and I loved the Tzatziki. The hummus was just okay and the salad was standard. The chicken itself was pretty tender and they gave a big portion of it. Overall, I would definitely come again for a delicious lunch that is macro friendly! I highly recommend the carrots! read more

I highly recommend the falafel. It was so fresh they air fried it right when you order it. The sauces were all very good. I liked the cilantro Jalapeño. The chicken and lamb are pretty dry so I don't recommend them. My brother got the wrap and it was huge. read more

Obsessed!! I want this place to succeed so I can keep coming back forever! Even my kids love it!! The employees are also super nice and helpful too. We've had the bowls and wraps - and everyone gets to choose their toppings, (like Mediterranean Chipotle, but way healthier and in my opinion better than Cava). Huge portions and very reasonable price. Everything is FRESH, colorful and amazing blend of flavors - my son calls it a flavor bomb. Also this place is seed oil FREE! read more

It was sooooo good, I forgot to take a picture until we were almost done! We are big fans of Mediterranean bowls and this unassuming place hit the spot! No seed oils, tastes so fresh, and healthy! My only critique is the ambiance. It's not quite the place you want to dine in, but rather take out. Maybe if they made the interior a little more warm and cheery, it would be a place to sit and eat. Nonetheless, go for the food! Wish they were open later too. Been twice in a week already and ready for the next visit! read more

Running errands and was drawn by the new signage indicating there are no seed oils which are in just about every package of hummus in stores, so it was nice to try the lunch here. I ordered the bowl and you choose your protein and vegetables. This was perfectly portioned and a good value. The owner was very nice. This is a nice new addition to this strip mall. I just wanted to say that I'm really upset, I'm a regular and go there every week, but that changed last Saturday. I went there and was waiting to be helped, it wasn't the first time that this happened, a guy that works there always charge the costumer when they give him cash always with his gloves on and that's disgusting, I asked him to change is gloves and he rolled his eyes and changed. After I got my bowl I found a bug in it... I was so upset because I used to go there a lot, but i'm not anymore, and I'm definitely calling healthy department. read more

Atrocious customer service. Ordered food online and waited for 40 mins for a pickup. When i got there they had not even started making my bowls, while attending to customers just coming in! Taste of the food is very meh, not an authentic or even tasty addition to mediterranean in the south bay. read more

I was in the mood for something healthy yet delicious and filling. I saw this new spot on Yelp so I decided to give it a shot. First impression was great! I loved how clean and bright it was inside. I was greeted by staff right away (a greeting goes a long way, tbh), made me feel welcomed and invited. I believe the person who helped me was Leanna and she guided me through the menu and ordering. The menu is not complex, quite straightforward. You can order a bowl, salad, or wrap. You choose your protein, toppings, and sauces. I ordered a bowl with half chicken and beef with rice and carrots. I loved how I could order all the toppings I wanted bc they all looked delicious. You get to choose 3 sauces at the end and I loved the green spicy sauce plus the garlic sauce. I thought for the quality and portion, the price point was adequate. I enjoyed the friendly environment and quick ordering process. I love this place. It's like a Mediterranean Subway. Pick your protein, vegetables, sauces. Way better than most pita places in the area. Staff is friendly and attentive. Only negative I can come up with is they're closed on the weekends. I really want these guys to succeed. So I'll just say highly recommended. read more

Came in on Friday at 2, the young man who took my order was so courteous and took great care of my wrap. It was my first time so I probably looked like a deer stuck in headlights with all of the options. He made my wrap quickly and it was perfect! I didn't catch his name, he has a mustache. I don't get to tip because I paid with my card, so I suggest bringing cash JIC you're feeling generous. Hats off to the young mustachioed man! Price point is good for the portions that you get, I'd definitely come back! My wrap will feed me twice today for less than $20! There is a small seating area, but I took mine to go. read more

Superb -- both the food and the customer service. I accidentally placed an order for pickup when I meant to order delivery (with little ones, getting out isn't always easy). I called a bit late to cancel, fully expecting I'd need to reorder and possibly lose the original order. Instead, they went above and beyond and told me they would personally deliver it. They had me as a lifelong customer before I even took my first bite. And then the food... incredible. I built my own salad, my husband created his own bowl, and we both chose falafel. I'm vegan and try to eat very clean, and the options were plentiful and thoughtfully prepared. My husband isn't vegan, but even with a veggie bowl this time, there are plenty of meat options he's excited to try in the future. Won't be going back. $40 for two bowls with tiny portions. The pita was a small square, sauces were a teaspoon portion and the meat was dry. Who knows how long the meat was just sitting in that Dutch oven pot... much rather go to the other Mediterranean spots on Artesia read more

So excited to have this delicious new restaurant in a convenient location. My friend and I both really enjoyed our lunches today. I had the falafel bowl with lots of toppings and sauces - I wanted to try everything. They have a ton of topping choices and everything was super fresh. The falafel was straight out of the air fryer oven, and the pita was freshly heated in a press. Good portion size, too. Randomly tried this place on my way back to work. Food was excellent and the price was fair. The chicken/lamb and beef are all tender and the portions are enough to feel you up. They have some kind of jalapeño sauce that I highly recommend trying, it's very flavorful with just a touch of spice. read more

Made a quick stop at Pita & Basil after completing my errands at the nearby FedEx office. Did not regret it! The staff were very friendly and encouraging to try the many toppings. This spot is a FANTASTIC addition to the South Bay! The food was so fresh and colorful and flavorful and the sauces were fantastic! We got the air fried falafel and their special rice with a bunch of the vegan toppings and we absolutely loved every single bite. My daughter got the kids bowl and then we went back to get another one. She loved it so much and she's a really picky eater. We've got to meet the owner and he was lovely. Best new spot in the area...definitely needed. This was my second time. 1st time I split a wrap. 2nd time i ordered a bowl to myself. This place is amazing. My wife was annoyed I kept making "mmmm" sounds but I seriously could not hold it in. I hope they start a loyalty program because this is going to be my new spot. At least with other bad coffees I could stomach at least half of it but this was just really acidic. I noticed other people mentioning the coffee scene in LA isn't the same anymore and this attested to that. They started picking up foot traffic & I wasn't going to wait to ask for a remake or anything, I took the L and life moves on. I wasn't going to play Karen about it. The Lamington pastry somewhat saved the experience. This was an extremely moist, spongy, sweet cake that was delicious with coconut flakes on top. She was AMAZING. I snagged a piece off my friends and it was reeallllly good. I would recommend if you like coconut and a softer spongy cake like pastry! Talk about the underdog in this trip. The aesthetic is cute, it's clean and resembles a house. I like the scheme they have going on. The other half looks like a gift shop that I did not go into. They have a restroom available as well inside. Customer service was just customer service. Nothing amazing or bad about it. Pretty standard. We mentioned it's our first time & the girl didn't really care lol. We had questions and it was very whatever kind of vibe. No enthusiasm. Parking would be on the street so good luck!

Another winner (and great leftovers). When we got the bill I noticed the soup was billed for $7.50 vs $6. I asked the waiter about the discrepancy and he said something about a bowl vs a cup that usually comes with the special. I was a little confused as none of that was mentioned when ordering but I accepted it . Without me asking he brought back a new charge slip with the $6. Very nice of him By the time we left two more parties of two arrived. Both with an adult and child. I don't know enough about the Hermosa Beach Monday lunch scene but I'm surprised this spot doesn't have more customers. I'm glad we stopped by and will try to get back for dinner. One more plus (for me). I love old school r&b music and enjoyed all the great tunes!

Brownie was slightly dry but also delicious cuz it's a brownie. It's gluten-free after all. The best part? It's just kind of a mellow meal. There's a lot of places to eat out in South Bay, but I don't always want pizza or sushi or burgers or steak. The menu also features traditional Pakistani, Persian, and Arabic dishes, such as Beef Nihari and Haleem. After several visits, here are my thoughts on some of their grilled meats and desserts. Beef Kofta - 3/5. The kofta was a bit dry and tough. I wish it had more fat and seasoning to make it juicier and more flavorful. The grilling is also somewhat inconsistent--sometimes the kofta comes out beautifully browned, while other times it's over-charred. Grilled Fish - 4/5. This is easily my favorite item on the menu and, in my opinion, their best dish. The fish is seasoned just enough to enhance its natural flavor without overpowering it. It's grilled very well, developing a beautiful golden-brown crust while remaining moist and tender inside. Beef Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. The quality of the beef is decent, especially considering the price. Given the cut of meat they use, they've done a commendable job with the grilling. The beef has a solid seasoning base and a nice sear with just enough char to add flavor without becoming overly smoky. It's reasonably tender, though I wish it retained a bit more juiciness. Chicken Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. Very similar to the beef shish kebab. It has good flavor and is grilled well, but it could benefit from being a little juicier. Gyro - 2/5. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The gyro meat on the vertical spit often appears to be rotating without enough heat to properly caramelize and crisp the exterior. As a result, the meat comes across as dry, rubbery, and lacking the rich roasted flavor that makes a great gyro. Kunafa (Knafeh) - 3/5. This dessert has both strengths and weaknesses. The cheese filling has a pleasant, slightly salty flavor and a creamy texture, and I appreciate that it isn't overly sweet. However, the syrup is underwhelming. A good kunafa should be generously coated with a fragrant sugar syrup - ideally infused with rose water or orange blossom water - to provide sweetness and aroma. I also wish the kataifi, the shredded pastry dough, were crispier and lighter to create a better contrast with the gooey cheese filling. Overall, Al Hamra Kabob Grill is one of the better places to enjoy Middle Eastern-style grilled dishes in the South Bay. While a few menu items could be improved, the grilled fish stands out as excellent, and the shish kebabs are solid choices. The owner is also incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm, neighborhood atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. It's not perfect, but it's a restaurant I enjoy visiting from time to time and one I'd recommend if you're craving grilled Middle Eastern flavors.
