Had a brunch date with a friend and we decided to eat here. We both really liked it! We sat outside and enjoyed the weather. They also have tables inside but outside became our fave. I usually get the avocado toast and that's a 10/10 Service is always very friendly!

Very cute cafe with delicious food. Highly recommend. Got pesto chicken sandwich with mom's potato salad (not pictured). Cinnamon roll, veggie breakfast wrap with fruit and cold brew. Staff was friendly and food came out pretty quickly, however they brought the food first, then the drinks, then the cinnamon roll. Check this spot out!

Stopped by the cute, cozy & relaxing Gum Tree Café for coffee with my husband & ended up enjoying so much more. We had delicious avocado egg toast, tomato soup, great coffee & a wonderful pumpkin latte. The staff was very friendly & helpful, which made the experience even better. Next door is a charming gift shop filled with festive, unique holiday finds. Out front, there's a thoughtful wishing tree where you can write a wish on a tag & hang it on the branches...lovely touch. II'm ready to stop in again for another pumpkin latte!

Gumtree makes the best spice chai in this town! I say this as somebody who grew up making chai authentically from scratch. The barista is super sweet and friendly. Can't wait to go back! The vibe of the cafe was also very cozy and inviting. I enjoyed getting some productive work done while sipping on my creamy, oat milk chai.

Came for a coffee and instead got a turkey sandwich and the potato leak soup. I'm so glad I listened to the cashier because he did not lie about the soup. It's amazing! The sandwich was just ok, but will definitely be back for the soup. They also have seem to have good lattes, but will have to come back for that. We hadn't planned on sitting, but everyone was so friendly and the chatter of everyone enjoying their meals in the beautiful weather made us stay.

    Cafe Latte and treat!

Still absolutely delicious in spite of a tiny kitchen. Has adorable patio with a surprisingly large amount of seating, and the best view in all of Hermosa Beach. Nothing has changed in all the years. This establishment has operated except the prices have gone up. But who has not experienced that?! Try the delicious lavender latte for a spring time treat!

Light and fresh Australian breakfast place. Tiny/cosy inside. Beautiful outdoor seating. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The salsa was spectacular. Serving sizes are a little on the smaller side. Coffee was good. The pastries inside included overpriced tim tams. The the person taking my order came off to me as standoffish and impatient. Luckily the rest of the service from the other people were helpful and friendly. This cafe also has a small shop with really fun goods to look at!

    Cafe Mocha, cinnamon roll

Went just to get a mocha but ended up getting their Homemade cinnamon roll because it looked so good! They were both presented amazing and the mocha had a beautiful chocolate design in it that I wasn't expecting. The service was quick and good and you pay up front and they'll bring everything out to you. Inside has a white clean look to everything and very inviting. Only issue is there's little parking so it can be a little tougher to get to.

I haven't had an Aussie pie in such a long time, so I was thrilled to find a café that served it (as well as Australian coffee). Ordered the chicken curry Aussie pie and a lavender latte before grabbing a seat outside on the patio overlooking the street, with a decent view of the promenade and beach from the distance. Aussie pie had a good, hearty crust, and the curry was strong and flavorful, but my god was the chicken so dry, to the point it was almost unbearable to eat. The lavender latte was cute in the mug, but there was a notable sour aftertaste which I didn't really care for. Overall, it was just okay, but the location and views made up for it!

Food here is p bougie. Like I got a Brie cheese and peach jam sandwich. That was pretty good even tho cheese and jam wouldn't seem good together. The scone was dry bc scones are dry but the flavor was also good. The bacon egg and mushroom sandwich was probably the least fav. There was too much bread so that was dry when some sauce could be added to be bussin. The price was very expensive but ig that's bc we are like 10 min walk to the beach so it's a nice vibe. I guess u would go for the experience and nice atmosphere bc beach. But they had a screen that went behind a the fence probably to protect people from falling but the screen was pretty dirty.

Ambiance: cozy home style brunch place, and its next door is the gift shop, two businesses sharing the same establishment, street metered parking only Service: friendly and patient with questions about their signatures and speciality, attentively served water and food Food & Drink: variety choices from the menu and daily specials, they strive to use organic and locally sourced ingredients Avocado Toast - **** breakfast special, half toast, topped with arugula, egg whites, feta cheese, pesto drizzle, unique combinations, recommend Meat Pie - **** Aussie pie, ground beef, diced carrots, celery, onion, gravy, served with tomato sauce, crispy outside and juicy inside, recommend Mixed Greens - *** side dish, rotten leaves, not very fresh Fruits - *** side dish, not so fresh either Cafe Mocha - **** beautiful latte art and sweet taste, recommend Price: moderate portions and reasonable prices, expect $20+ per person

Not sure what it is or if its me personally for whatever reason, but, despite being super friendly 100% of the time, the owner just acts kind of rude and unfriendly to me for literally no reason at all. I promise I don't smell bad and I brush my teeth before I come. I smell really good. I promise! I think the owner is probably on some hipster nonsense bs energy. Cool man...yeah man... It's a shame because its literally the owner who is the rude one in my experience, not any of his staff. His staff never gives me any of his same stinky vibes. P.U. dude... Sorry, but I don't need to feel tension or your bad energy when I'm paying you like $7 for a flat white that takes you 30 seconds to make for me. Sorry to be such a big bother for asking about some of your food items to see if they are vegan so I could possibly pay you more money to buy a food product from you. SORRY FOR TRYING TO SUPPORT YOUR BUSINESS BY GIVING YOU BUSINESS WITH MY MONEY!!! SORRY!!! Okay?!! :( When you started rolling your eyes or exhaling that passive aggressive breath out because I was such a bother to you, it was in that moment, yesterday morning, that I left Gitana knowing that I wouldn't come back. From now on, I'll go buy the $7 flat white at Caffe Luxxe in MB located the exact same distance from my place. They do not have delicious food like you do, but they also don't have any of your attitude. Positive attitude to your friendly customers is WAY MORE IMPORTANT than sticking to your pretentiousness and icky, terrible vibes. Sorry if you woke up on the wrong side of the bed and decided to be Oscar the Grouch to me while I was Elmo. Elmo sad now. Elmo REAL SAD. :( :( :( Caffe Luxxe it is because, even though I kind of like your café better, I like being treated with respect WAY MORE than I will ever like your coffee. It is what it is...

Two of us ordered the Buddha vegan bowl (9/10; quinoa was fluffy, tofu was tasty but a little firm for me, everything else about it was fresh and well-done. The mushroom serving was my favorite part.) My friend ordered the Beef Macro bowl (9/10: beef was the best part and everything else was good. The wild rice was tender; but it tastes "healthy"). My last friend ordered the salmon bowl (9/10: all of us raved about the salmon. Had the same wild rice. I liked it but my friend said it was too soft for her. The rest of the items that came with it were similar and tasty). Before I left, Molly helped me order a mushroom reishi hot chocolate drink. Molly was so sweet and helpful. She recommended the homemade almond milk. (8/10). The ambiance was warm and cozy. I loved the multi-level structure. Therefore, the name, "The Hive". The inside is large and spacious with a lot of seats. It's really open and has nice natural lighting and there is also a little patio area with outdoor seating. There's also an area with board games and books to borrow. The cashier at the front was really nice and chill. He listed the different options for milk for my lattes and refilled the water tank at the end of the station after being notified it was low. I love that they had a chilled water tank that's self serve in the cafe because that hit after my run. For drinks I got a teddy graham latte with oat milk which was a seasonal spring menu item. It was topped with cinnamon which gave it almost a little spicy kick in the beginning that I was not mad about. The oat milk was so creamy and I liked that the latte wasn't overly sweet. I also got a matcha latte with oat milk for my mother-in-law. The matcha was delicious and the drink again was not overly sweet which can be the case at some other places. I didn't get any food this time but the pastries were all very temping and looked so good on display. I also saw some other customers eating sandwiches that looked hearty so I may need to make another trip here to try out some of the food. The menu is approachable and thoughtful, with some really delightful Greek dishes. And yes, Uncle Stavros has to be Greek, right? My wife and I shared the Greek salad and the chicken gyro. Both plates looked amazing and tasted just as good. I almost went with the beef and lamb gyro, but for lunch the chicken felt right, and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The salad was full of great flavors and textures. After tasting the gyro chicken, we both agreed the salad would be even better with that same chicken added in. The real showstopper, though, was the pita. I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a gyro where the pita itself stood out. It was so good that we ordered extra to take home. All around, it was a fantastic experience. I was surprised to see some of the lower Yelp reviews, but after reading them, they seemed to focus on things like an Apple Pay issue, an unfriendly waitress, or even a chair being moved. We experienced none of that. What we did experience was great food, warm hospitality, and friendly regulars who added to the neighborhood vibe.
