The Green Store is awesome! If you are down at the beach and need some last minute supplies, food, snacks, or drinks, The Green Store has you covered. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but you are paying for quality and convenience. Plan ahead next time, lol. The vibe is more boutique convenience store than gas station or 7-11. The staff is always friendly too, and that really matters. Seriously, it is a gem of a convenience store basically on Hermosa Beach, or at least a one minute walk from the sand. 5 stars. read more

Cute little pit stop right off the strand in Hermosa with unreal sandwiches. Always has a good variety of soda and drinks to choose from as well. Small selection of candies, classy t-shirts and other kitsch. If there is a line it's worth the wait. Make sure to check in and see if the owner is there at the register she is wonderful and always cool to talk to. It's not just locals only, they make you feel like your at home! read more

We spotted this little gem in Hermosa one evening while out to dinner nearby and decided it was a must-try... My husband went back a couple of days later and ordered sandwiches for lunch. He built his own and ordered me the Turkey Havarti with no red peppers and added avocado. It was expensive, but clearly quality (Boars Head) and so delicious! I ate the whole thing and was very satisfied. He loved his also. Service was speedy... We will absolutely return when back in the area! read more

I like this store overall. Really helpful staff & great sandwiches. Prices seem reasonable & they have a good selection which is much needed in this neighborhood. I guess the only reason I can't put 5* is sadly because when I tried going a second time during normal business hours, the shop was closed. I had walked there & then had to walk back to my jobsite empty handed & drive somewhere else. Although this is likely a rare occurrence, a note or something might have helped understand if they were going to reopen that same day so I could try back later or something. There were other customers in the area that had a similar experience, although they had driven there. Anyway, when I work in that area again, I'll for sure give them another try as I really do love the Cesar salad wrap sandwich I had. read more

Love this place! It's in a prime location right next to the beach. The folks who work there are super friendly. They have delicious sandwiches and sides to go with them. We haven't tried them all yet, but we've been a few times and haven't had one we didn't like yet! My wife and I also stopped by for cups of coffee before a morning dog walk by the beach recently. They have pretty good coffee! I take mine black and I enjoyed the flavor. I prefer their coffee over most of the other spots near the pier that have coffee. Definitely would recommend stopping by in the morning and/or near lunch time! read more

I stopped in on a Saturday morning to grab a Reuben and had an unfortunately uncomfortable experience with the woman behind the counter. She asked if I had hired someone I'd just met for breakfast across the street. When I said no, she immediately jumped to conclusions -- telling me she "knew it" and that I had just taken the young man's gift without intending to hire him. She didn't ask for context. The reality was that he didn't have a work visa, so I wasn't in a position to hire him regardless. For what it's worth, I had paid for his Ubers and his breakfast that morning while we talked through his situation. On top of that, I didn't leave a tip on my sandwich order -- honestly, I wasn't sure whether tipping is expected when you're just grabbing a coffee or a sandwich at a counter-service deli. I tip 18-20% consistently at sit-down spots, but at grab-and-go places I genuinely wasn't sure of the etiquette. She took visible issue with it and asked about my ethnicity -- which felt pointed and inappropriate. She then told the chef to "take his time" with my order and, at one point, held up a pair of scissors and said she was going to "cut" me. I'm sure it was meant as a joke, but combined with everything else, it didn't land that way. I came in hoping for a quick sandwich and left feeling judged and uncomfortable. The food scene in Hermosa has plenty of warm, welcoming spots -- this visit unfortunately wasn't one of them. read more

I understand charging that if I wanted a latte with almond milk but a splash? I love this place so much. Amazing food, the deli sandwiches/wraps and sides are so delicious. Customer service is wonderful too. This sandwich shop/mini bodega is turning out fresh sandwiches and great customer service! I was greeted with a warm smile and "hello" the second I walked in and had no wait time to order. I opted for the "build your own" sandwich option and loved the concept to fully customize your sando. I chose oven roasted turkey w swiss on a baguette w avocado and all the fixings I wanted. The proportions were great and perfectly balanced, the baguette was delicious, and everything was so fresh! Total wait time to build the sandwich was probably 3 - 4 minutes, not bad at all! There are plenty of drink options and snacks here too, and the parking could not have been easier. Can't wait to come back and try more from this incredible spot! read more

Unfortunately, we will never step foot in this establishment ever again! Saturday night, my daughters and a bunch of other local children went in to purchase candy. They struck up a conversation with the owner, Lana and the subject of the fact they were Jewish came up. Sadly, what happened next was disheartening. Lana proceeded to tell them to "free Palestine." Yup, you heard that correctly. She told a child who is Jewish and has nothing to do with the conflict in the Middle East that Palestine needs to be free. I have asked numerous people if she has ever said that to them but I have yet to find anyone. Lana has chosen to pick and choose who she wishes to say this too and it appears it's only to Jewish customer. Lana is free to hang a flag or place signage up in her store that says she supports Palestine, but when she directs her political views towards Jewish children, that's where I draw the line. Just hoping she realizes her plight for the Palestine's wasn't made any better by her saying that two my daughters and only spreads hate. read more

Ate here the other day and honestly did not like it one bit. The food is awful, the service is bad as the person taking my order had a really bad attitude, and the bathroom was one of the dirtiest bathrooms I've ever seen at a type of place like this. The prices here are out of control. They benefit from the location and there not being any good alternatives nearby for groceries. There are some nearby better places for coffee or coffeeshop-like items The quality of what you receive does not justify these prices. I will not buy anything here ever again. Not my first time nor will be my last. It's an older house look to it from the outside but the inside is a bunch of happy employees and yummy food and drinks. You can grab and go anything and chill beachside. I ordered ahead of time and our food was waiting for us, grabbed some bottled waters and hit the beach. The staff are very sweet! A bit busy and crowded on weekends, even during COVID. They're doing a great job trying to keep social distancing, but obviously they're too busy and can't control that Jimmy over there in chino shorts was walking around with no mask. Their sandwiches are delicious (and I'm not even a sandwich kinda person), so come early for more bread selection! I got some sort of chicken sandwich with sun dried tomatoes, and my friend got a tuna salad sandwich. Both were really good! Definitely will be back. read more

Pretty pricy for what you get. Got Hawaiian chips, a canned guava drink, and a sandwich and all of that cost me 30 dollars. What I received looked like someone emptied half a jar onto the bread. The photos speak for themselves. If this is what "light mayo" looks like, I'd hate to see the regular order. The problems didn't stop there. The lettuce was soggy, the bread wasn't toasted and the tomatoes looked bruised and well past their prime. This wasn't a sandwich made with any sense of care or pride. It was sloppy. What makes it worse is that I brought my sister here instead of one of her usual sandwich spots because I've had enough good experiences to recommend it. Of course, the one time I convince someone else to try it, this is what comes out of the kitchen. We also asked for Zab's hot sauce and somehow ended up with extra mayo and spicy mayo instead, along with additional charges. Between that and paying $4 for a Diet Coke, the entire experience felt like nobody was paying attention. Every restaurant has an off day. I get that. But when you're charging premium prices, customers shouldn't have to wonder whether anyone looked at the sandwich before wrapping it up. There are too many great sandwich shops in the South Bay to spend money on food that leaves the counter looking like this. After years of being a regular, this was enough for me to move on.

PS they are always super pushy with asking for a tip when you pick up your sandwich too and most of the staff become irritated when you press the "no button" and give you a weird attitude....talk about an environment that's the opposite of your friendly neighborhood grocery store.
