Delicious lunch specials at reasonable prices! I always opt for the chicken lunch special which comes with chicken shwarma, spicy chili chicken, and chicken kebab over a bed of rice with a side salad, pita, and falafel. And sometimes, I will opt for the falafel sandwich and substitute the tahini sauce for their garlic sauce instead, which I highly recommend! The portions are generous for a lunch special, but my only gripe is that they've forgotten twice or three times now to include my falafel in my lunch special which makes me super sad because I love their falafels! One previous time, I called and happened to speak with the owner who was so nice and sincerely apologized and promised me he'd give us falafels on the house to make up for it, which they did the next time we placed an order. This last time, however, I placed an order through DoorDash last Friday, and everything from the early delivery to the quality and taste of the food was perfect until I realized that once again, they forgot to include my falafel in my chicken lunch special. It made me extra sad because I tipped generously too, but at least 100% of the tip went to my DoorDash driver. Despite their occasional mistakes with my order, I would still continue to support this local business over other Middle Eastern restaurants I have tried in the area. I went to Pita BBQ in South Elgin and it was so delicious everything was delicious and you can tell that they put aLot of heart and thought into there food. So I really wanted to like this place more but fell a touch below for me. Had the beef shawarma and chicken kabob. Both were good - beef had lamb integrated which was apparent in the first bites. The chicken was over cooked. For sides had falafel, Lebanese salad and basmati rice. Falafel was the star of the show - great flavor in it. The Lebanese salad was good but had too much parsley which overpowered the delicate cucumbers. The basmati rice had several spices that were not pleasant. Service was good. read more

Order shawarma wrap to go today. When got home and open the wrap it was all soggy and fell a part. White burito tortilla was used to make wrap. Greatly disappointed and will never step in or order food from here. I stopped in Pita BBQ on a way to a friend's house and needed to pick up something quick to eat. I wasn't sure what to expect since I hadn't been before, but after looking at the Yelp reviews I figured I could find something I liked. I walked in and was immediately greeted by multiple workers (always puts me in a good mood) and they gave me plenty of time to review the menu. One of my pet peeves is feeling rushed to order at a restaurant I've never been to! I opted to try the chicken kabob sandwich but had no idea what toppings to put on it. The gentleman, who I believe is the owner, gave me his suggestions which sounded delicious. I asked for "easy onion" since I like the flavor, but try to avoid bad breath. He responded with "Easy onion - got it! I'll make it myself to make sure it's done right". I waited a couple of minutes for my sandwich and it did not disappoint. The chicken was super moist and the combination of toppings was perfect. I'm glad I took the owner's recommendations as I'm not sure I would have put all of them in my sandwich. I really like this little place. I have always enjoyed a shawarma sandwich in a pita, but this place takes it to the max. Delicious meat (the beef/lamb is my favorite) with hummus, purple cabbage, Lebanese salad with cucumber, and a savory garlic sauce all wrapped in a thin laffa bread and grilled to crisp the bread. Each bite is filled with contrasting​ textures and great tastes. Awesome sandwich! Get one of these and a side order of some excellent falafel and you will feast. This USED to be a 5-star for me. However, they stopped serving the CHICKEN KABOB. It tasted fantastic with hummus. I have reluctantly taken my business someplace else. I WILL say that the service is friendly and the place is clean. The falafel is very good, but I wish they kept the best thing on the menu. They offered me samples of other meat, but it wasn't the same. If grilled chicken kabob is NOT your thing, go here. I have nothing bad to say about them. Very nice people. I was happy to share middle eastern food with people who hadn't tried it before, and they all liked it. --Their meat was gooood: well cooked, good seasoning but still tender. --Their hummus was very tahini based, so you can tell it was made there, but it was good. A little different than my family would make it but I liked it. --The grape leaves (aka dolma) was cold- I'm used to it being warm so that threw me off- but still good. Misleading - wow, 4.5 stars over 300+ reviews; today's late lunch / early supper definitely was not as good quality as last time, last summer in 2020, something drastically changed; i.e. owners/operators? in 2021. The bread is not a naan, rumali roti, or even gordita like, but instead a cheap extra large burrito flour; I ordered the basic mixed shawerma for $8. The pickles threw me way off; did not taste right. The meat was overcooked & hard to digest, thank god I had eno. The 2 sauces I ordered were also off, 1 orange pepper one that tasted like old salsa & the white one as turned sour cream - I really think they are cutting corners to cheapen the quality & not making it authentic anymore. They don't have the cabbage mix either, & ignored my requests for the authentic fatoush salad like toppings, just provided stale onions / tomatoes... plus an off parsley sauce inside. This jewel is absurdly placed in the dirt of fast food restaurants and highways. It was a rainy evening. I could smell the Mediterranean awesomeness from the parking. Jumped right in. I have not seen such a precise menu with representative pictures of platters in a while. A couple recipes each of shawarma, pita wraps, chicken, and lamb. I knew nothing can go wrong with a menu this simple. I took time looking around because those giant spot-lit yummillicious pictures against the black walls were not only irresistible but also convincing. I knew right way what I wanted. Order was placed and Spicy Chilli Chicken platter with humus and fresh pita bread was served HOT within 5 minutes. It was nothing better than I would have imagined. Saffron rice and humus were a combination el-perfecto. The sitting area was full of happy customers catching a quick snack before some concert. I could tell there were more customers for to-go than dine-in. My fetish of watching the food being prepared was satisfied as well as the kitchen literally projects into the sitting area. Loved the sight of chefs smoking lamb chunks. Definitely coming back to try shawarma and gyros. Bring me more of those simple menus please !!!! read more

This is one of the hidden Gems of streamwood area. Its right next to the high school. Stop in and get some chicken shawarma or my personal favorite chili chicken wrap. The owner and his family run this great establishment stop in. He's super friendly and always keeps his restaurant clean. Every time I drive past Pita BBQ my car seems to want to pull into the parking lot. Maybe it's my taste buds wanting to pull in. Whether I've already eaten or not! I really love this place, the owners are always welcoming and happy to see me, and especially happy to feed me. I've had the vegetarian lunch plate, as well as most of the kebabs and chicken, and other protein filled pitas. The hummus is fresh, sauces are abundant and wonderful. I ordered the falafel wrap. Instead of the pita bread wrap, it came in a Mexican tortilla. It was barely wrapped in 3 falafels that felt were not fresh at all. Sorry to say this place use to be good but has gone down hill. read more

Apparently, the service has taken a serious downturn and I was quite disappointed. I realize things have become increasingly difficult during the pandemic, but I would strongly suggest for anyone that when picking up your order, you look into the bag to ensure you have received everything you paid for. I learned that the hard way tonight when I picked up my order only to discover that the hummus I ordered was missing. When I called to complain, they offered a $10 credit (which I never received) and they kept repeating during the call what a container of their hummus looked like (as if I couldn't tell that it was missing or not). My wife and I have eaten their food many times before and it's usually delicious, but I don't think we'll be returning after this disturbing episode. read more

Pita on Gyro was dry and falling apart, the meat was burned and dry...no taste other than sawdust. The tzatziki sauce was no better than "sour cream" with some slight flavor. My wife refused to eat her gyro or the falafils. Speaking of the falafils were raw on the inside and the tahini sauce was so runny it had to be cut with water. I had driven past Pita BBQ several times and always contemplated what it was about. I somehow struggled to understand how pita bread and bbq were related. I envisioned ribs and barbecue chicken in a pita bun - guess I took the restaurant name literally. Either way, it deterred me from stopping in. Once I realized they served up some phenomenal Mediterranean dishes, I knew it was worth a shot. The menu offers guests the choices of their favorite dishes - chicken and beef schawarma, kabobs, falafel, gyro, baba ghannouj, and beef koobideh kabob. The bf and I decided to split a combination plate and a few extra falafels, which was more than enough to feed two people. The meats were moist, tender, and full of flavor. The falafel were pillowy and perfectly seasoned. The saffron rice was rich with flavor. And the cucumber-dill was to die for. Pita BBQ claims they use only fresh and organic ingredients, and that nothing is frozen and always pre-made. I wouldn't doubt that based on my experience. The service was great. The staff was friendly and helpful, and willing to go the extra step to make customers happy. I will say the wait to get the food itself wasn't super speedy - but I won't complain when I'm getting fresh and hot food. Damn, that was good! After disappointing meal after disappointing meal at my local favorite Mediterranean joint, Pita House, Christie B. suggested I make the drive over to Pita BBQ. As always, she never leads me wrong. After years of subjecting my taste buds to sub-standard Mediterranean fast food, I'd forgotten how much better the real thing tastes. I've taken the flavors I experienced while living in the city for granted but have thankfully rediscovered them here at Pita BBQ. Everything we tasted in the Combo Meal and Hummus that we ordered just bursted with layers of flavor and none of the meat was dry! At first I gawked at the hefty $12 price tag of the Combo Meal but I figured I would give it a try since I made the trip. Hoping it would be enough for two, I ordered a large hummus just in case. The Combo Meal was definitely enough for two especially if another pita is ordered. It's a regular sized plate piled with meat and rice from edge to edge. The shawarma is not the solid block processed style either. I'm talkin' individual chunks of meat slid on to a spit so that when they cut pieces off nice chunks of meat fall off instead of shaving of mystery processed meat. That's the way it's supposed to be. Even the tabule was fresh and flavorful. In fact, everything had so much flavor that I found myself using a lot less sauce than I do at Pita House. The only complain I have is that the pitas didn't seem very fresh. A few pieces were rock hard and none of them were fluffy at all. We may have just gotten a bad batch judging by the quality of the rest of the food. They have lunch specials here that are a few dollars more than Pita House but I think the quality is more than worth it. Now if I could only get them to move to Schaumburg... read more

I really enjoy this place...though I haven't had much experience with Mediterranean food so I don't have much to compare it to. I've been here about four or five times and every time I have gotten the spicy chili chicken (not that spicy, which is fine by me, but just a warning) and I like it so much! Not overcooked and really flavorful. Another warning, the fries are really greasy but pretty tasty...I'm not usually sensitive to fried foods or overly greasy things (in fact I usually say bring it on!) but these are a bit too much and kind of give me a sick feeling. I usually opt for the slaw, which is delicious and fresh and a bit sweet and a little creamy, and the hummus. They have MY FAVORITE hummus I've ever eaten. Smooth and not nearly as tangy as most hummus that you buy in the grocery store (I do not like the tang) with a drizzle of olive oil on top. I am also a gal who really likes dipping sauces so when a restaurant is generous with the side sauces when you ask for extra I REALLY appreciate it. That's how they are here at Pita BBQ. Stopped in for a quick bite the other day. It's a nice place with a real chill atmosphere. Good food and cool jazz playing in the background. Plenty to choose from on their menu. Went here for a lunch on Saturday. Ordered the chicken tandoori burger as it was prominently featured on the menu. When the Sandwich came out it looked nothing like the picture. Taste was it was on the bland side not much flavor. On top of that the restaurant is not well kept. As I looked around the light fixtures had dust all over them. Some of the ceiling tiles were missing and their was dust all over where the tile should be. I don't think I will be going back anytime soon. After my last experience Shaz the owner reached out to me regarding my experience. He assured me he would do best to rectify the situation and improve things. He also issued me a credit and invited me to try them again. I decided to revisit the restaurant and found that indeed this experience was far better. I got a chilli Chicken entree with Baba Ghonouj and hummus. The food was good. The entree came with a piece of Pita. Staff was attentive and place looked a lot cleaner. Excellent food and service, been coming here since it was called Grill 59, way before the Pita Crave. I remember getting disappointed when they closed down for remodeling at the fact that I had to spend my lunches somewhere else. Yet now they reopened as the Pita BBQ, and once again I come and fill myself with good food and for about the same price you'll pay at any fast food restaurant. Now with new and improved variations of their previous dishes, I think it's even better than before. Wonderful food! I ordered Chicken Shawarma on a skinny pita - delicious! My husband ordered Koobideh, also on a skinny pita, which he also really enjoyed. The pitas were soft and the meal tasted very fresh and flavorful. The staff was extremely friendly and very welcoming. The price was great too - $6 for each of our pitas. Pita BBQ is my favorite local pita place (since there is no nearby Naf Naf. Actually, there are some things at Pita BBQ that I like better than Naf Naf, and vice versa). They have great options for vegetarians and vegans (I've never actually eaten meat here) and very reasonable lunch specials, and everything is delicious! For dinner, I love to get the vegetarian feast, which comes with falafel, hummus, cilantro chickpeas, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh and pita. I love to combine everything inside the pita and top with a bit of their delicious garlic sauce. The baba ghanoush is perfectly smoky and the falafel have a great crunchy texture. For lunch, they have a smaller option where you pick 3 veggie items with rice and pita for like $5.95! Now that it's cold out, they have complimentary hot mint tea and I finally got to try the lentil soup which was taunting me all summer from the menu board (they only serve it in fall/winter). The soup is yummy and really filling! One thing to keep in mind: we have had a couple of mistakes with our orders here, which they are always happy to correct, but if you get food to go you probably want to check it before you leave.
