This place has the potential to be great but it misses the mark especially with so many Korean bbq places around you have to really stand out to make a difference. I have been here twice and both times it just didn't do it for me. Reservations are encouraged especially for when they get busy, make sure your whole party is there or they will not sit you. I like the fact you order from a tablet and they will bring you your servings. The quality of the meats didn't seem on par with what I've had. And the servers don't come around enough to change the grill. It was fine for what it was but there are better places out there.

Tomahawk BBQ Steakhouse is a Korean-BBQ style venue, featuring all the meats you can possibly think of, and as much as you can stuff your face with. For $37 (at this time of writing), it's a decent deal compared to the nearby places like Iron Age. Each table/booth has an 18-inch grill where you cook your meats. There are grill guides detailing how long each type of meat should take to cook. Order your meats on a tablet by adding the item to the Cart, and "Checkout" once you're done. The food will be wheeled to you in no time. The star of the show for me were the sirloin steaks. 3-minutes on each side, and they are a perfect medium-rare. The one meat I didn't quite care for was the teriyaki chicken. It's really hard to cook dark meat on a grill; I just was too scared to under cook it so overall ended up burning it. Despite that, the seasoning on the chicken teriyaki was good. In fact, the seasoning on all the food was good. I also really like the brisket. Garlic shrimp was good too. Always room for dessert, since its a scientific fact that dessert goes into another stomach, I ordered the vanilla ice cream which was good. It came in a cup and really hit the sweet spot. I will definitely be coming back. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located near the back of the restaurant, the Men's bathroom is A-OK. One urinal, a couple of stalls and sinks... what else do you need? It gets the job done and I had no complaints. Sit or squat? Sit!

Came here to celebrate an early Father's Day with my pops, fiancé and mom. I'm all for trying "new" places despite how many Korean/Japanese ayce bbqs I've been to. Anyways, I digress. The location of this spot is where I believe a Red Robin used to be so that was quite interesting. We had made our reservations before hand so getting seated fast was a no brained. When we entered this establishment, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who seated us promptly. There were many big screen tvs blaring the usual kpop but the interior decoration was bright and sunny. Definitely gave a warm yet busy vibe. Once seated, our waitress, Kylie, approached and gave us the low down on how to order using the tablet. I do gotta say that using a tablet to order was a GENIUS idea. It helped to cut down the time you had to wait between ordering appetizers, meats and drinks because you could pace yourself appropriately while still ordering as much as you want. Also, Kylie briefed us on the sauces which were delicious. Holla to that red, spicy chili sauce--you hold my heart!! LOL! Anywho. The menu was expansive and you could order anything you wanted from appetizers to veggies to various types of meats. For the sack of time and my thumbs, we ordered: Cajun chicken breast, pork belly, bacon wrapped mushrooms, mussels, kimchi, soy sauce pork chops, Hawaiian beef bulgogi, beef brisket, salmon, spicy baby octopus, calamari and garlic shrimp....among MANY others. I can honestly say that everything was really good! Succulent, tender and with the addition of the sauces...absolutely magnificent *chefs kiss*. Ending the night with some desert, ice cream to be exact that acted more as a palette cleanser was a good thing. The customer service was good as our multiple orders came out very quickly and we finished what we ordered! No service charge for wasted food on us *hooray!* Our waiter, Kylie, was prompt in removing our dirty dishes and getting us more napkins and our drinks. We appreciated her kindness. We also had the pleasure of meeting the general manager, Debbie. She was kind and courteous. This was our first time being here and we were shocked that this place has been here for an over year. Overall, our experience was a lot of fun. My dad loved his Father's Day gift and I got to spend it with the most amazing people eating delicious food. What more could you ask for?!? I highly recommend this place for a fun and yummy experience. As far as the price goes, it is up there but I felt like the food was worth it so you get what you pay for here. If you're on the fence here, try it out for yourself, I think it'll make your tummy happy.

The meat was flavorful but I felt the selection of meats was limited for the price of AYCE. I was a little disappointed that the beef short ribs did not come with bone. We ordered at least one of each type of beef but found the beef belly, bulgogi and shortribs were our favorite. The service was good-- attentive and responsive. However, the waitress kept spilling water onto the raw meats on the table as she refilled our water cups. The restaurant was fairly empty at 6pm on a Friday night but more guests seemed to fill in later in the evening. The restaurant felt new, clean, and modern. We left happy and full.

The restaurant is a little bit hidden, but easy to find with GPS. Parking is easy as well. Price is higher in the area for a Korean BBQ AYCE at $38. They do not provide the usual side dishes you'd expect to receive (ex.radishes, kimchi), you must order via the tablet each item within the 2 hour time limit. Food was ok, no stand outs. A plus is that it isn't loud in there so have nice table conversations. I'd recommend skipping the dessert.

Was over all great. Went with a group of friends. This was a great experience. The food quality was much better than the last one I went to. The quality of food was really much higher than I expected. There was a large selection of choices. I also liked that they did sit us at a table with two grills as we were a bigger group. I was a little worried about all of us sharing one grill. The service, was super on the spot quick to bring the food out, easy to ask questions, and accessible, If you had something you needed definitely recommend this place. It is in an old red robins restaurant, They turned it into something beautiful and cool inside so I highly recommend if you're in the area this is a fun experience and worth every minute. They were quick to change grill plates if over used lol. Such good flavor in the meats and the desserts are perfect size. We will be back

I wasn't quite sure what to expect as we have Iron Age and Mr. Kimchi nearby but we decided to give it a go. We made a reservation online but they didn't even ask for our name when we entered on a Friday night. We went around dinner time and it was pretty quiet. So no reservation necessary. But located nearby a few bigger name restaurants, they have tons of complimentary parking and it's pretty open at this time of night. We were shown to our seats where our server came by and shared that we could order everything except drinks from our tablet. Great, we could order without waiting esp since it's all you can eat we certainly want to eat at our own pace. That being said for the pricing to be a bit higher than other local Korean BBQ places at $37.99 per person, we were a tad shocked that sodas were almost $3 each, each time. Nonetheless, we indulged. To be fair they did have a larger menu, and more cocktails. Our server couldn't remember the drinks so he gave us his folded up paper of them from his apron and shared what his favorite was. The drinks were rather strong but I'm not sure I'd order it again if we come back. During dinner we tried a variety of things through the different categories and found the meats not to be marinated but just slabs of them. Even with the garlicky flavors it was a bit bland. I also realized that everything kinda had a straight bbq sauce taste to it which is a bit off. By the end of the night we were full with what we ordered, but I would say this is a Korean style bbq restaurant rather than a Korean bbq restaurant. Overall a decent experience, wishing them all the success!

So you know when you expect one thing and it turns out to be another? Like when the villain turns out to be the hero? Plot twist? Like when we thought we were going to Red Robin but the place is now Tomahawk BBQ Steakhouse but its actually an Asian BBQ? Like, we wanted burgers but then we're like, ok, cool, let's have steak but then it's like, it's an Asian bbq? So as other reviewers have noted, it's not exactly KBBQ (no banchan), but that's ok because it is like the Japanese bbq I have attended. It was empty in the restaurant-- the server told me it opened in May. There's an iPad to order and you can order whatever you want. I asked how much it was (there were no prices) and they said it was $37.99 each for all you can eat, but must eat all that you order and be finished in 2 hours. Our food came out quickly. We ordered Hawaiian beef bulgogi (sweet but tasty), marinated pork belly, brisket, and trumpet and button mushrooms, zucchini, asparagus, Onions, rice and more. The meat was good, some of the pork was tough but we probably overcooked it. The timings they show way underestimate the time of cooking. There is no way asparagus and onions can be cooked 30-45 seconds each side. We actually just went by visual cues and all of the vegs were tasty and cooked just right. We did a decent job cooking the meat and only had one big flare up. Our server switched the grill and said those were the biggest flames he'd seen and went on to detail the levels of fire safety installed at the restaurant. There's a bar with video screens showing K-pop and when you enter there are various toy vending machines. We enjoyed our meal, even though it was not what we were expecting. It was clean and comfortable and our server was friendly and helpful although he was pretty hands off until the large flames were shooting from the grill. The portions were large and we had trouble finishing all the food even though I felt we did not order that much. Plot twist? We should have tried a dessert or two since we ended up wanting something sweet once we were home.

We ordered: Smoked Pork Belly / Pork Bulgogi Garlic Beef Belly / Teriyaki Ribeye / Boneless Short Rib / Yaki NY Steak Garlic Shrimp Zucchuni, King Oyster Mushroom, Fish Cake Mango Martini & Mai Tai Ssamjang, Yum Yum Sauce, Cumin, Sesame Oil Solid Asian fusion bbq spot in the suburbs. The quality and flavor of our meats and veggies were very good. The grill gets hot very fast and stays quite hot even when we dial the heat down. Assuming this is the case at all of the other grills, you have to keep a close eye on the grill and take the meat off before overcooking/burning. Service was quick and very friendly and there's a lot of seating for small to big groups.

New bbq spot opened near us! I was a bit discouraged prior to going due to the negative reviews and the price but I definitely wanted to try it at least once! Went with my two siblings yesterday! Upon first glance, it looks like a normal Korean bbq spot- with gashapon machines and Korean music, the table grill, even the decor was giving a traditional Korean bbq spot. You order off a tablet, which has very convenient. Lots of choices in meats, veggies, seafood, dessert, etc! You get 4 sauces, yum yum sauce, a sweet vinegar, teriyaki (which resembles McDonald's bbq sauce", and a sweet chili- which I noticed is what they use to marinate most of their meats. The meats seemed very high quality and came in nice sized portions. We got a good variety of meats/seafood. The salad and the NY steak were probably my favorite! For the 3 of us, it totaled about $125, which was a little pricier than what we're used to paying. In conclusion, I'm glad I went and I did enjoy it for what it was, but I agree with the review that says if you're looking for Korean bbq, this is not it.

    Domenic M.

Do you like Korean Barbecue? That's a shame, because this isn't really that. Starting off, there is no banchan. They don't even know what that is when you ask. The meat is .. not the most awesome. It's not the worst I've had, but I've had a lot of KBBQ in a lot of places, so I'm not sure that's a good bar to measure by. On the plus side, seating is ample. You can fix six average-sized adults in a booth -- maybe more. Everyone else has given them a single star, which I feel is a bit harsh. It doesn't feel like they're "trying," per se, but they aren't aggressively NOT trying, either, if that makes sense.

Daughter took us on an adventure! The staff is friendly and explained it all! Lots of meats to choose from and sides! We placed our order and began cooking! It was fun and food excellent! Clean and family friendly

I especially liked the pickled cucumber and the kimchi. Some of the reviews said they were charged extra for refills on the banchan dishes. We were not. What a feast. The server loaded up our grill with brisket and would leave and come back to flip things or turn things although we were pretty capable of doing it ourselves. They very nicely cut our ribeye into bite-sized pieces with the kitchen shears and also snipped up the short rib. The meat was delicious and the banchan and rice soon filled us up. We used the green leafy lettuce to make ssambap. I also liked the sauce with the sesame oil and salt. The bulgogi was last and we had to dig deep to finish it. What I liked was that nothing stuck to the grill and nothing burned either. I've had kbbq before at other places where it was too hot and the meat was burned. Everything was cooked perfectly. There was another table where flames shot up from the grill but the staff quickly went over to help. The staff was friendly and efficient. The banchan was plentiful and tasty. There has never been a bowl of fast food made of fresh veggies and meats and rice that tastes so great, and make us feel so good after eating it, but Drop the Bop does it! My husband and daughter picked the All-In bowls from the Yelp experience, and I had the build-a-bowl. Since then, we have been purchasing the All-In bowls every time. All the different ingredients are so fresh and delicious, they contribute to make a complex tapestry of tastes and textures, but all work together harmoniously. We always pick the black rice that has similar texture to sushi rice, that tastes fantastically and holds everything well together. Hubby and Daughter like the carpaccio sauce the best, that is light and not overpowering, while I favor the Yum Yum sauce as it is just yummy! We all like the seaweed soup that is delicious and not too salty. Drop the Bop is a hidden gem in Lincolnshire. Phillip, the young owner, always works so hard and is very resourceful. Each bowl contains bop (rice) with your choices of veggies and meats similar to Korean bibimbap! What makes DTB stands out from other businesses is that their ingredients are consistently very fresh, the bowls are delicious with generous portions. They offer the most healthy and delicious fast food that our family love! We love their All-In bowls that contain every veggie and meat that you can think of, and we choose black rice instead of white rice as the yummy base. I usually pick the Carpaccio sauce (out of 8 different sauces) on the side, which provides a "fresh citrus taste combined with olive oil and a hint of jalapeño and black pepper" that has a nice kick to the bowl. I always pick the seaweed soup over miso soup as well. Phillip, who is the very friendly owner of DTB, seems to be always working there. I saw him every time I went to pick up our orders. Funny thing was that he gave me a punch card that offered buy 10 bowls get one for free. I have misplaced several of those cards. Phillip said that I could combine several of those cards to get a free bowl once the total slots punched add to 10. It would be OK with me that I never find all my cards to get that offer. To me, the bowls at DTB is worth every penny, and I don't mind paying full price for each one of them.

Nothing here necessarily stands out, but it consistently gets the job done. I stopped by again recently since we had a work event nearby. My coworker and I originally planned to try Urban Melt, but ended up back at Fuji Thai. We both ordered the lunch special ($13.95) from the kitchen & sushi bar, which comes with miso soup or a green salad, 3 pieces of chef-selected sushi, a California roll, and your choice of entree (pad thai, pad see ew, fried rice, chicken satay, chicken teriyaki with rice, or shrimp + vegetable tempura). You can choose chicken or tofu, with beef and shrimp for an extra charge. We both went with miso soup and pad thai. The restaurant wasn't very busy, and the service was attentive. The staff member helping us was kind. The space itself is cozy, though the bathroom was very warm (almost like a sauna). As for the food, it was solid for the price. The pad thai hit the spot for a casual lunch. The nigiri quality wasn't the best, but also fair for what you're paying, given the variety in the combo. Overall, it's a good value lunch spot. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way for, but definitely reliable if you're in the area and want something quick and reasonably priced.

Delicious, authentic Thai and Japanese food. Never eaten anything that wasn't really tasty.read more
