Pita Delite is consistently excellent and the Cornwallis location is no exception. We arrived at a particularly busy time and the staff was really hustling. Despite being slammed, we didn't have to wait but a few minutes and perhaps a little over five before our food was ready. I've pretty much been a Ghassan's guy for a quick mediterranean fix for lunch - kabobs, double salad - low cal and filling. BUT, after lunch today, this place just move ahead, way ahead - on quality, on quantity, and on menu variety. Our mainstay for this type of lunch has always been the 2 Chicken Kabobs with double salad rather that FFs ($8.69), and the platter here was great - the chicken was perfectly cooked, not at all dry, and there was plenty of it. The salad was nice, though a little more dressing wouldn't have hurt. The pita was also excellent, and plenty of it, as well. We also tried the Mediterranean Platter ($8.99) which provided a nice variety of items - spanakopita, falafel, grape leaves, pita, hummus, fajita sauce, & cucumber sauce. Al were good to very good, except the spanakopita which had a doughy consistence and little taste. The fajita sauce with the falafel was a very pleasant flavor experience, and the grape leaves were tasty, not at all mushy. I enjoyed this platter for the most part. They offer a nice selection of homemade salads, and some intere4sting sandwiches choices - including a burger in a pita. Like the competition (Ghassan's, Taste of Troy, Jack's, and Mykonos), this is not the least expensive lunch in town, but the food tastes freah here, and the portions are well sized. read more

First time I've visited this Pita Delite, I'm usually down the street at Ghassan's for my usual double chicken skewer & double salad, but decided to stop here & see how the two compare. The double chicken skewer with double salad I had from here was very good, the salad was very fresh & crisp, but the feta cheese was almost non existent & what little was on the salad was tiny tiny crumbles, really more like crumbs. The chicken was nice also, good flavor from the herbs, but desperately lacked salt, which gave the chicken a degree of blandness even with the herbs it was cooked with. It also comes with pita bread which was great. Pita Delite has some good lookin' items on their menu, I'll definitely stop back by & try more of what they have to offer, but I'll probably stick to my usual spot for my chicken skewers & salad. read more

Ordered a mini Camille's salad, no tomoato. When I got home, I noticed I had not only tomato on my salad, but also pickles, olives, and peppercini peppers. On top of the salad, was a very stale (yet warm) pita bread. So stale, it felt like toast. I called back and spoke to Gabriella and explained my order was wrong and that I was en route to have it replaced. She explained that the Camille's salad now comes with those toppings. Oddly, they are not on the menu. I would suggest they update the menu board to reflect this. As soon as I walked in, Gabriella emerges from behind the counter with a new salad in hand. I immediately saw the tomatoes and shared that the salad was supposed to be sans tomatoes, but I could live with them and would just pick them off. The pita bread was warm atop my salad but I HATE wet bread, so I asked for a slice of foil to put my pita bread in. When I used to come to Pita Delite, the pita bread would come in foil. Guess times have changed. I will be honest, I was shocked to see that my salad was ready. I guess they were being proactive. Mind you, I live 15-20 min away. So, I head back home ready to devour my salad. I have been intermittent fasting and my fasting window ended at 1145. It was now 145, so having not eaten for 18 hours, I was starving. After I remove the tomatoes, I attempted to put a bite of salad in my mouth. Allof the chicken was cold. Sigh!!! Oddly, the other chicken salad, made it to my house with warm chicken atop the lettuce and other ingredients. This one did not. I did phone back and tell Gabriella that I was highly frustrated with my experience today and would like a refund. She understood and requested I come back to speak to the Manager and get my refund. I explained that I was too hungry to return for a 3rd time right now; instead, I am going somewhere else to get a meal. She said they close near 8 and I explained I would bring my salad back before the day was over for a refund. All of this for a $6.39 salad. I am so agitated. I have always had nothing but pleasant experiences at Pita Delite. Today, they fell absolutely flat and at the cost of my gas and time. It will be a while before I recover from this. The platter comes with 2 sides and, because I'm trying to make healthier choices, I ordered double salad. The gyro meat is served on top of pita and beside your sides. Pita Delite is one of several local franchises offering up Mediterranean food in a jiffy. At their core they are a short order grill, nothing fancy, and they stay fairly busy during lunch hours when working folks are rushing to squeeze in a quick meal. For years they've made it their hallmark to welcome customers by shouting "Hello!" from behind the counter, but despite this kind charade, my experiences with Pita Delite have left me uninspired. My big complaint is this: the food is patently mediocre. And for what they charge, I'd expect better. The best food I ate at Pita Delite was their falafel ($1.49 for a side of two). I found the flavor interesting, being both familiar and unusual at once. My expectation for falafel is a combination of cumin and coriander, which I certainly found in Pita Delite's version, but it also contained something extra that lent a dark headiness to the medley -- I'm guessing a little nutmeg and/or clove after a bit of internet searching. Anyhow, it was pretty good, but it definitely wasn't without flaws. Though it sported a nice crust, you could taste the oil in which it had been fried was past its prime. Also, they don't offer tahini sauce, which was surprising and disappointing. Instead they offer "fajita sauce," whatever that is. And why fajita sauce is a specialty of a Mediterranean restaurant remains a mystery for the ages. Anyways, these issues didn't totally obscure the fact that the falafel were good, but they did point toward some unmet potential. Besides the falafel, everything else I ate at Pita Delite is hardly worth writing about. Nothing was offensive, but most things were boring or otherwise less enjoyable than I'd hope for. Take for instance their salad. You get a pile of sliced iceberg lettuce, a handful of shredded feta, and a half moon of tomato dressed with their house vinaigrette. The first couple bites are good because you get the full brunt of the tart, herby dressing and the feta cheese. But then you're stuck with an unadorned mound of iceberg lettuce, and who enjoys eating that? As far as staples you'll find everywhere... The chicken kabobs ($7.99 for a single platter or $8.99 for a double) are actually chicken breasts sliced lengthwise, which is one of those nitpicky distinctions that probably shouldn't bother me as much as it does. What's more likely to bother normal people, though, is their serious lack of salt. They were super bland, and the obvious first step is to add salt to the marinade. It's not that they need to be salty, but salt is one of those things you may not realize should be there until it's missing -- here's a case in point. If you're more of a gyro lover, their platter ($8.99) comes with 6 preformed strips and three sides (pita counts as one unless you ask for something in its place). The meat is the salty, greasy strata you have probably encountered any number of times before, not shavings cut from a spit. Mine were particularly greasy, approaching something like undrained bacon, but admittedly they were tastier than the chicken. I could go on, but in the end, Pita Delite seems to embody the franchise restaurant mentality -- serve homogenized products to impose quality control at the expense of having pride in your food and an interest in improvement. I can't blame them for treating their business like a business, but it's almost like you can taste the corners they cut, and it's not to my liking. read more

I visit all their Triad area locations and the food is consistently good no matter which location I choose. By far, my favorite is the Chicken Fajitas Pita, which comes with a bag of chips or a small Greek salad. I almost always opt for chips. The Pita is wonderful. It has chunks of chicken breast grilled with caramelized onions, provolone cheese, fajita sauce, and shredded lettuce. I don't know what's in the fajita sauce, but I love that stuff! I ordered the chicken kabob pita with fries and a drink and it cost me $11.19. The sandwich itself was rolled up so tiny, no bigger than the cardboard tube that's in a toilet paper roll. It was bland, and there was not a lot of chicken in it. As far as the fries go, I got a small pinch of fries. If I'm starving and paying over $11 dollars, I'm hoping to get something a little more substantial than the kids meal portion I received. I could have payed less at mythos and got a real meal. Delicious!! We love the food here so much!! Definitely stop by for a meal. Our only complaint is that at this particular location, there is an issue with their exhaust... Sometimes it is smokey... a couple of times, our eyes burned as if someone chopped onions right at our table. So at this particular location, you might need to take your food to go. My partner and I, in our tendency to be homebodies, forgot about the curfew when we were trying to have a date night. In an effort to ensure our date night attire didn't go to waste, we tried 3 other nearby restaurants and couldn't get any food, as we were trying around 7:30-8, which seems to be when restaurants have stopped taking orders. We were about to give up, when the lovely people of Pita Delight came to the rescue, took our order, and let us stay and eat as they cleaned up, insisting we take our time. It was a small gesture of kindness that was not required by any means, as we were well aware it was our poor planning that created the situation to begin with. Not only was this gesture acknowledged and appreciated, but also the opportunity to eat surrounded by different walls during Covid times and have a taste of normalcy for a moment was what we really needed. Golden Triangle: Fast. Sure isn't cheap. I LOVE Pita Delite restaurants, but am not a fan of this location.
