I was recently introduced to McAlister's and I've been purchasing food from there with frequency as of late. Normally I order online . Today gave me a reason and an understanding as to why.....I went in today and of course it's crowded---it's Sunday. It's after church and it's quite busy, but the service was less than stellar (maybe it's always this way???---I just happen to bypass it by ordering online) and with MS. JESSICA at the helm, I understand why.... Jessica is very abrasive. She is pushy, condescending and her Customer Service requires some much needed attention, especially if she is a manager. Now my food... My food had a distasteful appearance and I'm not even going to eat it. I'm going to have to order food from somewhere else because it looks like nothing I am accustomed to from McAlister's---Huge disappointment as I have been wanting this for DAYS and today was my day. I am HUGE on presentation. The food I received (torn bread, sloppily put together, the salad does not look like what I've received in the past....UGH!!!! I'm giving McAlister's on Highwoods a one star because of the service and the lackadaisical way my order was prepared. My first few orders would have been a five star. I don't know where the disconnect happened today, (it is often stated that "it starts from the top"...ijs) but I'm not pleased AT ALL , and for THAT reason I won't be back in the near future if ever. read more

Stopped in with my father to grab lunch after our drive. I've always enjoyed McAlister's to grab sandwich, they tend to have a good variety of options. But they are on the pricey side. The staff at the counter were friendly and offered some suggestions while were ordering I got the black angus club sandwich which is made with roast beef. I got potato salad with as my side. The staff is always so friendly and patient. I was greeted by staff members when I walked in the door. The cashier helped me with my food selection today, giving me suggestions of a few of her favs and shared what others are ordering. I swore off this McAlister's location years ago for reasons that, unfortunately, were reaffirmed during this visit. I was looking for a light dinner and decided on my usual salad and baked potato. Due to winter weather limiting my options, I reluctantly gave this location another chance. Big mistake!!! First, my salad dressing was missing...and then I saw it...the dryest, most overcooked baked potato ever!! This potato had to be left over from lunch, if not the night before. The weather prevented me from returning it so I settled and scooped out the edible portions. This experience has solidified my decision to avoid this location permanently. Next time, I'll just drive the extra miles for a better, more reliable meal. (I would've given only 1 star had not the sweet tea been so good). read more

I called in my order and had it picked up. When I received it, my first thought was this is a good looking salad. This was a perfectly made salad and it would have been a perfect salad but several pieces of the iceberg lettuce were brown. The manager said she was sorry about the amount of time it took to get our food but did not offer to get us fresh food or anything else to make the visit right. I ordered delivery by uber eats there is no way to specify to add more or pay for more why ? So I call and the restaurant transfers me to some repetitive, talking over me employee who the minute I said I made uber eats she repeated canned statements talking over me instead of saying she is not in the restaurant but instead a pick up company ??? WTH? You can do better. Update: If you need to request something call the main number and select "speak to someone" and ask them if they are in the restaurant and explain you want extra condiment and they will speak to the kitchen. McAlister's is our new Go To - here's why: they have no problem with substitutions. We both wanted The New Yorker which is corned beef, pastrami, swiss and spicy brown mustard on marbled rye. We changed the bread on both to a baguette and no cheese on mine. The girl at the register was very accommodating and nice. We took it home and chowed. This was my first time to McAlister's Deli. It was such a cold and rainy day so I was in the mood for soup. McAlister's popped up when I Googled "Soup Near Me" So I went. You have to order at the counter and then servers will deliver to your table sort of like a Panera Bread. However, you cannot see the food items or see your meal being made like at Panera. There is a large menu board with lists of sandwiches, salads and soups to order from. It's always so hard for me to decide when confronted with such choice. I do, however, see potato soup listed and that sounded fabulous and a grey day like today. I interview the server about her favorite sandwiches to help me finalize my decision. A BLT + A it is! Bacon, lettuce and tomato with avocado. It was delicious as was my cup of potato soup. All in all, my meal was really good and the staff was happy and polite. I haven't been to McAlisters in years, but I was in the mood for salad, and sadly Saladworks closed. I ordered takeout at the counter and the gentleman taking my order was very friendly as I was overwhelmed by the menu and trying to figure out what I wanted. I settled on the "Choose 2" and chose the savannah salad and 1/2 French dip. The order was up very quickly and everything was in the bag. This is really important in my book, as I'm sure with anyone who has gotten home only to realize sauce or dressing is missing. Anyway, the salad is decently sized for a 1/2 and 1/2 meal. Move over Panera. But seriously, at McAlisters you can choose any salad , soup, potato, or 1/2 sandwich you want, and you don't get charged an additional $8 (or so it feels at other places). My meal in particular was $10.xx. The savannah salad was delicious. There was a generous serving of grilled chicken, almonds, cucumbers, Gorgonzola cheese, and craisins. I like my salads hearty and this definitely fits. I wanted to like the French Dip but I just couldn't get into it. It was thickly and definitely not skimpy. But it was bland. And so was the aus jus. I felt 3 stars wouldn't be enough, especially considering the level of service I received (everyone was so friendly!). But they need to get some seasoning on that French dip to make it a solid 4 star. read more

Like most chain delis, they offer a nice variety of sandwich choices, along with a few salads, sides, appetizers, soup, "spuds", and even a pasta dish or two, but it is the sandwich selections that define this "fast casual" restaurant. Like most such restaurants, the key is to figure out what they offer that fits your taste, and even then, this is far from a "knock it out of the ball park" kind of place - it is clean, bright, convenient, fairly quick, and reasonably priced, but the food, by and large, is rather ordinary, with many of the ingredients appearing prepackaged, less than fresh tasting. On our last visit, we tried the Veggie on a wheat hoagie ($8.28), with a cup of Chicken Tortilla Soup ($2.49), and a McAllister's Club ($7.39) with a side of Pasta Salad. Our group also ordered 1/2 a New Orleans Muffuletta ($7.99) with a side of Potato Salad, and finally, a New Yorker ($8.99) with Mac & Cheese. The Muffuletta was pretty good, with the olive spread being very nice. The bread is the properly kind of loaf, but they did overcooked it. The McAllister Club is huge, too big in fact to eat comfortably, and the Honey Mustard kills the taste for me - might try it again with mayo. The New York was very average, and the Veggie was beyond bland. The Chicken Tortilla Soup was very thick, and not especially tasty, and the Pasta Salad was terrible, no taste and the texture of erasers! The Potato Salad and the Mac & Cheese were pretty good, but all in all, this was mostly a big fail - doesn't begin to approach the quality or freshness of Jason's though the Muffuletta here is slightly better. Ate there on a quiet weekday (3 p.m. Thursday). Dramatic decrease in quality of food and service in the past several weeks. Not sure if ownership or management has changed. Something is different and not in a good way. My French Dip sandwich totaled almost $18.00 and was made of poor quality, fat-ridden meat, slimy cheese on a very small baguette (about half the prior size). The au jus that came with it was literally boiling hot, I was fortunate to avoid burning my mouth. Staff could not have cared less; their full response was "oh, sorry about that". This is why it's absurd to be expected to tip in advance. A tip is deserved for an effort, not just for having a pulse. Disgusting disappointment and waste of time/money. We won't be back. read more

We went to McAllister's for Lunch. My dad ordered the nachos. The cheese and chili on the nachos was cold. Like, really cold. He asked if they could heat it up. When the girl took it to the kitchen, the cook rolled his eyes and talked shit about us. They then slopped more chili on top and gave it right back. Ordered on Uber eats, this was in no way the drivers fault. Everything for the nachos including the skin of the avocado was stuffed into one small container. There was also no chili or rotel cheese sauce as in the description. Also ordered a salad and of course came with no dressing. Sometimes you eat at a big chain and you wonder how did they become a chain. That is not the case here since the food and service speaks for itself. It Is one of the few chains that continues to impress.I am pretty honest and blunt about my experiences. I made a mobile pick up order, and as I walked in I was greeted by the staff, which seemed to be in a great mood. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and the harvest chicken salad sandwich. Was visiting from out of town and saw this little shop. The deli is situated in a shopping center as a stand alone building. The exterior is very clean and offers patio seating. As soon as you walk in you are greated by the staff and notice how clean it is. There are large menus above the cashiers that offer soups, salads, and sandwiches.
