I came here with my friends for a little lunch to catch up on our lives. I got the chicken shawarma. The pita was soft. The chicken was juicy, but it could have been more flavorful. We went pretty early in the lunch hour and the vegetables were still fresh. I got the combo, which came with a small side of fries. They were well cooked, but again, I wanted a bit more seasoning. When I'm eating in ethnic restaurants, I like to point at things and say "what's that?" and then ooh and ahh if it sounds good and it's new to me. I pointed at a torpedo shaped, fried item called kubeh. It's a semolina coating, filled with well seasoned ground beef, onions. It's like falafel's beefy older brother. At Pita House, it's set up like Chipotle but 10x better because you have more of an entree selection. I get the Chicken Schwarma Plate which comes with a pile seasoned chicken with tastes of allspice, turmeric, cumin, all the usual greek spices. It piled up, you get hummus topped with garbanzos and a pickled green relish of sorts and fresh, soft pita. You also get super garlicky tzatziki to build your own pita bites. I get to pick two sides from the available salads and there are always new and different salads, in addition to the traditional tabbouleh, greek salad and baba ganoush. I get the roasted cauliflower salad or the pickled zucchini salad. Both tasty. I've had other items and great desserts, and I've loved everything I've ordered. I visited Pita House for the first time about a month ago. I went with my father-in-law to get dinner for the family. We all got something different and it was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meal. I believe I had the shawarma. What stood out though was the hummus. It is absolutely delicious. I've waited until now to review because a friend told me they were inconsistent and I wanted to go a second time to speak to this (although two visits doesn't prove much). I visited Pita House again this evening and got a gyro, a side of hummus and an extra pita. The gyro tasted great. It was seasoned well and topped with sauce, onion and cucumber salad; which made it taste different than any gyro I've had before. The hummus, once again was great. The only thing I had an issue with was my pita. It was tough, probably because they microwaved it to warm it up (I watched). Next time, I'll ask them to heat it up a different way or just provide my own pita. Overall, I've enjoyed both my experiences at Pita House. read more

I found the consistency to be a problem it was too soupy for me I like my hummus to have texture and to be more firm. I live down the street from Pita House, so even though my family rarely eats out, we still have to convince each other NOT to go to Pita House, because while the food is affordable, we often end up getting eight or nine platters for the four of us (so we can eat more and have leftovers.) So I walked into this place and it was one couple and the guy behind the register. I told him "I've never been here" and "I don't eat meat". He said try the veggie platter and showed me the many things that I could choose from as we had conversation about what made me stop in today. (Everyday I want hummus or falafel.) He doesn't know me, doesn't know that more than two choices will give me an anxiety attack so I said, what would you get. He said "I'll just fix you what I would eat." This is my favorite place in Columbus for a quick, inexpensive meal. The food quality is always super fresh and cooked with love. The platters are great, I love the variety of salads to chose from at the counter. The people here are always super nice too. Even though the Happy Greek is great if you're looking more for a dinner spot serving alcohol, I definitely prefer the food here at Pita for sit down or take out. Very highly recommended. read more

Well, I went with high expectations but was disappointed. All I ordered was the falafel, and now I know why it's only $2.99 per order of 12: it's ALL flour. Falafel is supposed to be primarily chick peas, herbs, and spices, with little or no flour, but these soft little balls were, I'm guessing, 85% white flour. Not cool, Pita House. It is crisp on the outside and very moist and fluffy inside, unlike others that have been overly dense and dry for my liking.
