Blue Corn Nachos and Gyro
Naomi N.

Stopped by for a quick late evening snack on a Friday night. Ambiance here was causal, but lots of decor on the walls. You can also choose to sit outside on the patio, where there are lots of lights and a great view of a little man-made lake. I ordered the blue corn nachos (appetizer) for ~$13 while my boyfriend ordered the gyro for ~$11. The fresh, blue corn nachos came with a huge serving! Still had food to take home. My boyfriend liked his gyro too. Both entrees were pretty standard, however, we loved our non-alcoholic beverages as well (iced teas and lemonades). Both drinks were pretty sweet, BUT the cherry-on-top is that our waiter provided us with LARGE cups of our beverages to go! Overall, a great place for value and for a casual lunch or night out.

Falafel gyro

I absolutely love every time I come to Pita Jungle! The food had been consistently good for 10+ years and that is why I return every time I visit. But, now that I am a resident again I plan to visit more and check out their amazing gyros and hummus! I started out with their hummus platter with original, spicy, and jalapeño hummus. Every bite on top of the pita bread was so delicious and fresh! For my entree I got their falafel gyro with spicy falafel patties, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and yogurt sauce. Wow and wow again! Again Every bite was full of so much flavor and made me eager for the next! On top of this the service was amazing! My server was so kind and patient as I did not know what I wanted right away. I can't wait to come back--I always know whatever I am going to get it will be healthy and yummy! A must!

Lemon soup from the 1994 throwback menu
Heidi M.

We stopped into the Chandler location for their HH because my hubby loves the pita with thyme and olive oil, and I'm obsessed with the lemon soup off the throwback 1994 menu. Our service was great and the restaurant was super chill and not too busy. Pita Jungle is always one of our go-tos because everything is so fresh, flavorful, and yummy.

From the time we walked in (2 adults and 2 children) Adan took the best care of us. He was sweet and patient. He answered all of our questions and had great suggestions when asked about the new options that we didn't know about. He was clearly busy but still stayed on top of what we ordered and requested. We were celebrating my birthday and Adan made it extra special for us. He even brought us to go iced teas before we even asked. We will definitely be back and asking for him. And my birthday dessert was spectacular!

Chicken pasta salad.....tender

What a great promo for people with kiddos! We went and enjoyed a gyro wrap and a chicken shawarma wrap and the kids meal was free. This is on going for June and July. It really is the best because you get a break from cooking and the kids get a variety of options to choose from. Not only is it healthy but also delicious! The wraps were quite fulfilling and had an even mix of ingredients. The chicken thankfully was not too dry yet fully cooked. Score! The classic gyro was yummy as always. The add on soup of the day was an additional $2.99. It was a flavorful curry soup with chicken peas! The other entree I enjoyed in the past is the mahi mahi with pita chips. Get that if you're a fish lover. The place does get loud and echoey. So perk up your ears. There's plenty of indoor space to eat including booth and standard tables. In addition there's patio seating. We enjoyed our server. He was a delight!

Music is always on pointe and I would never change the look or ambiance of the place either. My last trip here though I had to ask about why the menu had stopped changing as often since we were one of two parties there in the middle of happy hour and there was a large framed picture of a bartender with a bunch of signed notes on the bottom of it beside me at the bar. It turns out that one of the oldest curators and bartenders of the bar and restaurant had passed from a drunk driving incident and I had not known at all! Gosh I was so disappointed in myself that I had ever complained about not having a new menu to try after that...but at the same time it was amazing to hear so many great anecdotes and to learn so much more about him and the history of the bar itself while dining this time. I had a lot of fun times at this bar - including remembering the first time I met that bartender and sharing that memory with the staff that told me their story. They also shared that they would be coming out with a new menu very soon and some of the new items and ideas that would be rolling out so I am also very excited to go back! New food menu tomorrow too?! What?! I was almost tempted to back today to get more of their amazing dishes from the main menu!! Thank you Cat for the amazing hospitality! I loved this little nook as it was quieter. What We Ordered: - Red Wine: My coworker ordered this, and remarked how much she enjoyed. Takes an edge off the work week, and a great pairing of catching up while I was onsite at the Phoenix office. - Curious Cocktail: The temperature of the day we dined was 111° and I needed something refreshing. They didn't have a Spritz on the menu, so I went with this. I did enjoy the flavor, but could only have one of these as pretty sweet. - Heirloom Tomato Toast: This was the perfect start to the meal, and the vibrancy of the heirloom tomatoes was refreshing. I really enjoyed the miso aioli as it really complimented the tomatoes. - Side of Crispy Potatoes: Sometimes you just need some carbs, and these hit the spot for a starter before entrees though it is listed as a side. - Dry Rub Chicken Wings: These were decent for wings, but I think I would refrain from ordering again as the sauce choices just weren't great. - Mercato Sourdough Pizza: My coworker throughly enjoyed this pizza, and it intrigued me to return to order one as I couldn't have this one (pesto). - Orange Olive Oil Cake: This was perfection! The salted honey whip + berry coulis helped balance out the denseness and tartness of the orange olive oil cake. Genuinely a contender for my favorite dessert this summer, and I've had a few when spending 15+ days traveling for work. I'd definitely would return here, and one of my new favorite spots in Downtown Chandler!

Everything else was terrible. And please note by my reviews that I'm an easy grader. Went with my uncle for lunch. We each had the three meat plate. I chose fattier brisket, pastrami and ribs plus two sides. This came out to ~$36 each. Total bill for the two of us was over $100 by adding drink, cookie, tax and tip. My uncle got kielbasa, brisket and pastrami. Our guess is that the food is brought in sealed and they microwave or use some similar reheat method and do no "cooking" there. All of my meats were beyond dry. It's really hard to convey how dry. The ribs were the biggest terror point since not only was it as tough as leather but it tasted like it was doused in iodized salt. My uncle's plate was not any better. The kielbasa was sliced and overcooked so badly that the sliced edges were burnt and frayed - you've got to really try hard to screw up preserved sausage. I could only do a few bites and threw it all in the trash. They were getting busy and I was not going to stand back in line with trays of food to broach the problems. They make sure to ask for a tip at time of order but there's no service for quality control. My uncle texted me later in the day: "Today's restaurant was such an awful choice for BarBQ. I can't remember when I had worse. We have to go to a real good one next time." It is crazy how bad this lunch experience was and a rarity that Yelps score misses the mark so badly.

We were greeted immediately when we walked in and brought straight to a good table in spite of our early arrival. Within a couple of minutes Erin our server came to introduce herself. We began with cocktails. A double Makers Mark on the rocks and a straight-up Tito's martini. Both done just as we like them and generous. First course was the Calamari. We're former New Yorkers so being a Calamari snob is expected. This offering, which delivered a bit of Scungilli as well, was really done well. Not heavy on the bread crumbs and not at all rubbery. The accompanying sauce was very tasty. We followed up splitting a Caesar Salad that we devoured. When we ordered our entree, Linguini and White Clam sauce, we asked Erin about the portions and she read us well. She suggested that we might be overwhelmed by the size of it so we split that also. Turned out to be a great idea. We devoured that too. Done just the way I like it. So good that I ordered a glass of Italian white wine to go with it. Normally, we don't have dessert but, Erin didn't bring the dessert menu. She just looked right at us and said: "We have the best carrot cake in the entire valley"! I must say that presentation was tough to look down my nose at so we split an order of carrot cake. I think I can say it really was the most interesting and best carrot cake I have ever had. Throughout the entire meal Erin kept an eye on us and made sure there wouldn't be a reason for us to wave her over. She's definitely a pro. She was even nice enough to laugh at my really bad jokes. A shout-out to the food runners as well. They were on time, friendly and polite. In closing, I have to salute the management. The dining room was clean, organized, and nicely appointed. They have attracted a pretty nice clientele if my observations were correct. There was plenty of conversations happening but no shouting or yelling. It is just a comfortable place to have a nice dinner out. I highly recommend this restaurant. Give it a try.
