80s songs plays on the background. There's indoor and outdoor table seating. It was a beautiful day therefore went with their outdoor seating. There's a bit of flies outdoors. I had to fight for my food, lol. Cute chair swings outside seating. Don't forget to grab utensils and sauces before seating. Yeah, I forgot. I came inside placed my order and was given a number, it is open seating. Staff recommended the beef brisket or pulled pork as their popular menu items. I went with the beef brisket. The sandwich didn't look as good as it tasted once I added the spicy bbq sauce. I combined the spicy with original testing the hotness. It was mild. The spicy taste the best. The sandwich came with a pickle and coleslaw. All was delish. I haven't had an Italian cream soda in so long! I ordered raspberry. Staff advised the strawberry is the most popular. I liked that it was not overwhelmingly sweet. I ordered a side of Mac and cheese. It was delish too. I like they slightly burn the cheese on top, gives it a smoky flavor.

In my opinion, this small business located inside the American Way Smokehouse still has the best cookies around! The Tattered Apron baking company produces in small batches made from scratch. To update my review the cookies cost $5 each. The seasonal pumpkin, lemon poppy seed, sugar and chocolate chip flavors were calling my name. I ended up choosing the oatmeal butterscotch and didn't regret it! Fresh, soft and delicious. I'd buy this variety again!

A must try if your in the chandler area. besides the food being good the restaurant is connected to an antique store which adds to the vibe. service is good, always help in answer questions about 5he menu. As for the food, we got pastrami sandwiches, mac&cheese and tri-tip chil. Everything turned out great.

So for my birthday, I wanted to go try a place I had never been before and my girlfriend agreed. I saw this place a while back on the morning news show I watch and they were RAVING ABOUT IT. It's fairly close to us so we decided to go after we went to a movie. The place is cool enough inside and the decor is extremely unusual because it's part of an antique store! The guy that helped us was unique as well. We think his name is Drew but not sure. I'm not sure why this kid was the face of the establishment and the one running the register and helping customers because, to me, he had the personality of the buns the sandwiches came on. I especially didn't understand because there was another guy, Micah, who was the friendliest, most outgoing, happiest person I've come across in a long time! He was AWESOME! Anyway, so we ordered our food, a pulled pork sandwich, a Cuban Club sandwich, and a 2 meat platter with chicken and ribs. I'm not sure what all the hype was about because the all of the food was pretty flavorless. The ribs were not only NOT fall off the bone but they seemed way over cooked, hard, and hard to eat. They were not even as good as the ones we got once from the grocery store when it was the last rack available. The chicken was so dry, that I struggled even swallowing the piece I tried. That meal came with Mac N Cheese and my girlfriend was going to put salt on it because it had so little flavor. The Cuban Club sandwich was barely eaten because it was not good. The pulled pork, again, dry, dry, dry, dry, dry. The slaw was weird and the potato salad didn't taste like potato salad at all. We got some of their cakes (deserts) because it was my birthday and we took them home, well they were dry and heavy and after a couple bites (one from each of us) they went into the trash as a lesson learned. I have to say, the only part of this meal that was tolerable was the free water we had, luckily it seemed filtered. This seems like one of those places that, because of its backdrop and because the news decided to feature it, it became a fad that people go to just because they saw it on the news. For $60 for the meals and another $25 for the deserts we tried, I will never return here for a meal NOR would I recommend anyone else do that.

Came with friends. Looks unassuming. You order at the counter, grab a table and they bring the food to you, pretty quickly. The ribs were very meaty and delicious, some of the best ribs we have had in Arizona. The brisket was also great, very lean. The baked beans were also great. The Tri tip arugula salad was also delicious. And the half portion side was very large. We will definitely be coming back.

As a vegetarian- I really appreciate the BBQ Jackfruit sandwich option here. I'm from South Carolina, and I'd never heard of such a thing before moving here. The pastries are also very impressive, and even though the sandwich always fills me up, I like taking one to-go. The staff is always friendly, and the line moves quickly. I'm not usually big on counter service, but for this place it works. Make sure you go on a day when you have time to look around the antique market.

The only great thing about this place is the antique store. I would give that place alone 5 stars but unfortunately it is connected to the American Way Smokehouse which was absolutely awful and disappointing. The potatoe salad was not edible, the Mac and cheese had 0 flavor. I got the 2 meat combo with chicken and ribs which were both dry. All of the desserts were dry and seemed old. Definitely not worth $90 bucks. The staff wasn't that great either at the restaurant side. I will be back to the antique shop but the restaurant never again.

We stopped by the Merchant Square antique mall today and had lunch here. Now, I'm not normally a fan of BBQ because it's usually way too sweet. But here you add the sauce you want and it's not too sweet. We loved it! I had the smoked Turkey sandwich. Havarti cheese dill aioli, lettuce & Turkey on sourdough bread. It really hit the spot! Others had the smoked brisket and a tuna sandwich. They both expressed the same thing. Yum! As Arnold said, 'I'll be back!'

The most amazing bakery! Cookies are the best! The brownies are not to be missed! My favorite was the breakfast cookie! Staff is so helpful! Don't miss this place!

My mom suggested we stop in for lunch today. It's. a really cute restaurant with vintage signs and decor. There was plenty of comfortable seating. Restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. We both chose brisket sandwiches. The bun was of superb quality. The sauce was good. The brisket and slaw were okay. The service was superb! The prices were reasonable. Lunch was filling so we ordered cookies to go. There were so many options making it difficult to make a decision. I tried the chocolate chip walnut and peanut butter. They were soft and flavorful! Absolutely great cookies! They also had scones and brownies. I'll definitely stop in again next time I'm in the area!

    Great service!

What a delicious barbecue place this is. So much fun because it is inside an antique mall. People shopping while I was eating. The beef brisket was really good and tender with a smoked flavor. The pulled pork was fantastic. They have three types of barbecue sauces on your table. I liked the spicy one. I will definitely be back!

We popped in to get takeout for dinner after wandering the antique mall the restaurant sits in. The yummy bbq smells got us they have tons of seating indoors and outdoors. The menu posted is straightforward, not really describing what you get with and on the sandwiches, etc. So it was a little bit of a surprise when we got our food home. I ordered the brisket, which came plain on a sweet roll of some sort. It had a good flavor but definitely needed some bbq sauce to moisten it up. My husband got another type of meat that came with cheese and spinach on regular sandwich bread, toasted. I enjoyed his a bit more. It came with two pickles and one small side of slaw (were we missing one?). The Mac was pretty good. Nothing extraordinary. A little more guidance on what we were getting would go a long way.

2 Meat Plate (Brisket (top), tri-tip, mac and cheese upgrade and potato salad with rolls)
    Emily H.

Stumbled upon this BBQ place and it was good! I ordered the 2 meat plate which comes with 2 sides and rolls. I got the brisket and tri-tip with potato salad and mac and cheese for an upgrade. The brisket and potato salad were delicious; brisket was tender. Tri-tip was a chewy and a bit dry. Mac and cheese is not worth the upgrade; it wasn't cheesy and only had cheese on the top while the pasta was buttered. They have BBQ sauces on the table to use but you'll also be given a cup with your meal. They also have baked treats that look fresh, but I'll try that next time. It's located inside/next to an antique store which is really cool to explore after eating. The cashier was really nice and helpful when helping me decide between potato salad or coleslaw. The leather benches are pretty worn out. We chose a table and didn't expect the bench to sink you in.

Parking: it looks to be severely limited but there is so much more parking to the east we had no problem finding a spot. Cocktails: boozy. :-) We ordered the Wake Up Call sans espresso, plus the brunch punch. I had to ask for an extra shot of cream because drinking so much bourbon & rum on an empty stomach got me a little fuzzy in the head. LOL! Never fear, the wonderful food soaked up the booze, the amount of water I downed helped, AND we walked around the area, as well as visiting the book store next door. Food: caramel roll, caprese omelet, California benedict. 100% delectable. Nothing was left on our plates. We would have licked them off if so many people weren't surrounding us, enjoying their meals. Ha ha! Staff: the ebullient gentleman welcoming us "warned" us about their fresh cinnamon rolls, saying they're large as a head, and though you could eat one alone, you may want to share. He was NOT kidding & yeah, we shared. Our server, Olivia, was so happy and chatty, she was extremely pleasant & attentive. We never felt neglected or ignored. The only hiccup to the visit was seeing some young chickee at another table suck on a vape. Luckily, that was mere minutes before we left, otherwise, we would have snitched on her. ;-)

Apparently they switched to summer hours recently & now it closes at 1pm. It's a Women owned restaurant inside an olde cute building with 4 small rooms inside for dining. The food was good & our waitress was sweet but they really should provide a carafe of water on the table &/or provide larger water glasses. One of us almost always had an empty glass. We only saw 2 young ladies working (1 server & 1 waitress). Think with small improvements this would be a solid 4 restaurant. I knocked off 1 start for accessibility issues. There was 1 lady in my party that has a walker but luckily she was able to navigate in & out of the building without any major issues. The Parking & bathrooms are a bit of a walk & may be difficult for someone with disabilities. I only saw 1 handicapped parking space. Plus all but the handicapped space in the parking lot is just sand/gravel. There's only 1 door for customers & it's located at the very front of the building (closest to Gilbert Rd). Know that the ramp to get into the building is quite short & steep. Also, the bathrooms are shared by the buildings in the complex & located in a separate building located behind the restaurant. *The ladies bathroom was clean, had a baby changer, & AC. It has a nice sized patio that runs along the front & side of the building with shade, fans, & misters. Too hot for my group on a 100+ degree day in AZ. Think I'd enjoy sitting in that outdoor space when it's cooler.

I really wish it were easier to find breakfast joints with organic coffee but it can be a bit difficult to find in certain areas, such as the east valley area. This was one of a couple options I could find. We attempted to dine here for dinner on a previous occasion but it was a long wait at that time so we went elsewhere. This time we showed up around 10:15am on a Saturday in June, and we were quoted 90 minutes for two people. Fortunately there was room at the bar, so we were seated immediately. The decor is very clean and subtlety higher end. It is an open floor plan with the bar towards the front door, which is also accessible from the large patio (in cooler weather times) that has mister fans and a lot of shade. They have one of the nicest and cleanest restrooms in the valley, with complementary sea salt scrub and high end paper napkins. They also have a couple luxurious event spaces, one of which was hosting an engagement party. My mom tried a non alcoholic drink special with decaffeinated tea and fresh juices, with a little flower on top. She also tried the avocado toast. She enjoyed both but she said the avocado toast was a little spicy, albeit she has an extremely low tolerance for spice. I opted for the breakfast sandwich and black coffee. The coffee came in a neat mug with an oversized handle that was very ergonomic. It was good, but slightly watery. Was at least comforting to know it wasn't laced with tons of pesticides like most restaurants' coffee. The egg, bacon and avocado sandwich was delicious. The egg and bacon were cooked perfectly, and the bread was nice and soft but not too dry. The greens on the side were fresh with a nice vinaigrette. The service was excellent, all of the staff were friendly and seemed to be happy to be there. All in all I was impressed with this place. The only thing I wish they had on their brunch menu was an omelette, because this is first place I have been in a very long time that isn't a fine dining establishment, where they actually know how to cook eggs properly. They were fluffy, moist, and light. I don't bring this up as a brag, but I attended culinary school and learned proper scrambled egg (French style) technique years ago. This is the first place I've been in a long time that gives my eggs a run for their money.

Service was very pleasant and helpful. They have a good size menu with American food to choose from. I went with the Philly cheese steak and fries.. the Philly has thinly slice meat with peppers onions and melted cheese lightly toasted bun option to add mushrooms. It tasted great really tender slices of meat flavor on point. Fries I liked they're the crispy kind. Ive been in before and I always return, I haven't had one thing on their menu that I really didn't so I will keep coming back! :)

It is a good thing they have a big variety of dishes to order. For me I was feeling a cheese burger and I actually enjoyed my burger. Others ordered a steak and chicken fried steak. All dishes looked pretty good but on this day I was the burger guy. Not a large place but has ample seating for customers. They do have a bar if that is what you are looking for. Today we just wanted to eat and visit and chat. This place is located on Val Vista Road south of Highway 60. I would recommend this place if you are in the area. The service was good and there is ample parking.

My husband and I came in for a light dinner after a movie last night. We got our food and were just sitting, enjoying our meal when Chester walked by with a couple plates of sweet potato fries and I made a comment only to my husband about how good they looked. To my surprise less than 5 minutes later Chester came over and dropped off a plate of fries at the table for me. That was literally the NICEST thing someone has done for me in forever - I was SO impressed. WOW!!!! So if you're Chester's manager - please tell him thank you again for going above and beyond. We love Flower Child and this was an experience that will keep us coming back!

The atmosphere is upbeat, bright, and welcoming with a really good energy whether you're stopping in for lunch, dinner, or meeting up with a larger group. The setup works especially well for groups since there's plenty of seating and the ordering process keeps things moving even when it's busy. One thing they do very well is efficiency without losing hospitality. They have both a dine-in ordering counter and a dedicated to-go counter, which seems necessary because this place stays packed. Even during busy times, the staff stays friendly, attentive, and organized. You can tell there's real attention paid to each order and that management understands how to run a smooth restaurant operation. The menu has a lot of solid choices whether you want something lighter, comforting, vegetarian, or protein-packed. Portions were satisfying, and the broccoli deserves its own mention -- somehow simple but absolutely addictive. My only real note is that pricing feels a little high for an order-at-the-counter style restaurant. That said, the quality, atmosphere, and overall experience do make it easier to justify once in a while.
