This is the kind of place you want to love. It looks a little divey on the outside but fun. It looked like the kind of place you wouldn't normally go to but once you try it, it's like a little gem that you can't believe you discovered - yeah, nope. I ordered a breakfast pita (eggs, sausage and cheese), hash browns and a sweet tea. Just under ten bucks. Portion was good but zero flavor. The sausage was two flat gray patties. The eggs were a watery scramble. The tots were cooked perfectly but needed salt. The tea was good! The service was really friendly, though. The woman who took my order at the drive through window was so welcoming. I think I would try it again.

My sister was bragging on the salmon croquettes here and I had to see what the hoopla was about. MAN! I never would've thought to eat salmon with grits, I never saw salmon croquettes shaped like chicken fried steaks and I was not expecting it to taste good. My tummy was very happy! The service is quick, the food was awesome, and depending on who comes through the door, you will get some entertainment as well!

    It's so good I couldn't wait

We ordered the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer, they were phenomenal! Then we both decided on steak for dinner. I got the filet, and ordered it medium rare and it was perfect. My husband ordered the ribeye and his was medium, his was also spot on. Then of course, we had to get dessert. I got the German chocolate cake (this apparently isn't their normal one) and my husband got the dulce cheesecake. The waitress we had was great, and she recommended lots of tips and favorites to try. The only negative thing that I would say is that it's a bit cramped, so it was very loud and hard to hear each other at points. This was an amazing dinner. We will be back

Our waiter, Evan, was very proactive & offered suggestions with menu items. We started with some cocktails, the gentlemen with the cider beer & an old fashioned. I chose a glass of bubbly & the birthday girl had the fizz cocktail. It was incredible with a fresh blackberry puree. We started with the fried green tomatoes & the calamari, both were delicious! Calamari was prepared well and not too chewy. We shockingly each chose a salad: the bistro steak, the chop chop Asian, the goat cheese, and the salmon. Each one was incredible. Mine was the chop chop and I absolutely loved it! It was HUGE and you can bet I ate every single bite. Loved it!' We finished with the brownie topped with ice cream for the birthday girl, it was extremely tasty! Thanks again to Evan for making our night! He was a fantastic waiter! Would absolutely request him in the future.

So, I invited my roommate', Ernie, my friends Arlynn and Joe to join us. We had brisket, pulled pork, two large sides, Texas toast, and four drinks. I loved the murals all around the building on Roosevelt Blvd(near Edgewood exit). Parking was fine. I went in and told the Waitress I was there a little early. When everyone was there, I went up and ordered. Everyone employee was so nice. The BBQ & sides were delicious. The sweet tea was very good. The overall restaurant looked clean and great for a date night. We weren't feeling too hungry so we ordered the following based on the waitress and our friend's recommendations: 1) Crispy Brussels sprouts 2) Duck Fat Corn Bread 3) House made pasta + sugo The crispy brussels sprouts were a bit undercooked and lacked flavor but if you prefer a less crispy Brussel sprout dish I would recommend it over the duck fat corn bread. The duck fat corn bread was disappointing. It was an odd combination of flavors that did not mix very well. The corn bread was mushy and the crisp Napa cabbage with the random ranch/spicy sauce combo did not pair well and left my mouth feeling confused. I had high expectations for their house made pasta as they had a pasta maker out for viewing. The pasta was overcooked and every bite was an interesting mix of flavors...some bites salty...some bites unseasoned. There was barely any meat present and overall we ended up not finishing our meal and wrapping up the night. The only good thing we had was the homemade soda that I did not get a picture of but I believe was the hibiscus one. Overall I would recommend this place for drinks but not dinner.

We were immediately impressed when we went in; lots of dark wood and a long bar with shelves and shelves of spirits. There were mostly bourbons and whiskeys. They even had a rolling ladder so bartenders could reach top-shelf bottles. We had about a 10 minute wait for a table on a Saturday for lunch. The time went by quickly and we were seated at a small wooden table. Our server, Erin, approached us quickly and took our drink orders. I ordered a Blue Moon and my husband had the WC Old-Fashioned. It was made with Evan Williams 1783 Bourbon and he said it was quite good. ($13). For food; I had the Rooster Royale which was a fried chicken sandwich with pickles and hot honey BBQ sauce. It was $16.50, and one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had! Even the bun was delicious! I'd planned on only eating half; but I ended up eating it all because it was so good. I also had the homemade chips which were yummy too. My husband had the Reuben which was $19. He said it was really tasty and full of meat. He commented that it didn't get "mushy" or fall apart. He had the crispy potatoes as his side and he raved about those too. We really enjoyed our meal at Whiskey Cake and would definitely return. The only drawback I can think of is that they don't seem to have very many healthy lo-cal options.

First I have to commend Christina, who was our server. A table of eight, she managed us with such grace, professionalism, and outstanding service! With a constant smile on her face, she asked us open questions and was very attentive. Not once did I have to ask for an iced tea refill because she was staying on top of it! The menu, though short with options did have a creative variety. We all tried the cinnamon roll, which I have to say was beyond, and I do mean beyond outstanding. In fact, it was the best cinnamon roll I have ever had with the toasted pecans and the sauce. WOW!! I ended up with the pancakes and eggs, and the eggs were cooked perfectly! The pancakes were were thick and had good flavor. It was a little overcooked for what I prefer, but overall, it was very good. Looking at the other options of what friends were having the food looked amazing. I am not a bacon eater, but one of our table mates had a bacon dish that she said was phenomenal. I will definitely be back

She started listing various options and provided details why they were her favorite. Someone who only knows the menu backwards and forwards and has personally partaken in the food would know such detail! It was so refreshing to hear her just talk about what she liked and why. And the most important part the "why" she liked it! You don't hear that too often. I had a conversation with the manager, Erik, and reiterated to him the importance of having such a dedicated professional (he promised me that not only what she recognized her for her outstanding job, but that she would receive two free meals as a reward for her customer center approach.) My friend had the del monico steak and they cooked it perfectly - the way he liked (breathing and mooing). My other two friends had the fried shrimp which they devoured! I was simple, just got the chicken sandwich, and I will admit I was disappointed because it was overcooked. However, Erik took care of that, and I was very generous of him. This goes back to seeing why Chelsea was as good as she was because it starts at the top and works it way down. Overall, this was a great experience because of the company, the ambience in the restaurant which is warm embracing and inviting and the great service we had from Chelsea and Erik.
