I think this is under new management since I last reviewed this location a few years ago. I recently had a customer service issue (technical issue with a transaction). It wasn't any person's fault. I ended up talking to the store manager to resolve the issue and I'm happy with the outcome. Also, the store manager knows my order even though I don't order all the time. This outfit took the subway concept and applied it to the gyro. You get your choice of meats, vegetable toppings and sauces,...but it's Mediterranean style. Meats include a mixture of lamb and beef, along with a variety of other deli favorites. Sauces include tzatziki for those who want to go Greek and hummus for those who like the Arabic flavor of tahini (sesame seed paste); plus a host of hot, sweet or savory options to appease your palette. Finally, your special creation can be wrapped in lightly toasted white or whole wheat pita bread. (I wish they would sell a pre-wrapped bag of pita bread to take home because it is so light and fluffy. Seriously, why isn't this quality ever available at the grocery stores in town?) You can get your food to go, or the cook will even wrap it so it can easily be consumed there or while you are walking down the street. Located in the heart of Bellingham, you have plenty of metered street parking around. Nights and weekends, the meters are free. The store is open late night. You can even order your food online for pickup at the store if you are in a rush or find yourself with only a nickel in your pocket to feed the meter. If you didn't order in advance, don't worry, the line is only long at lunchtime, but they move people through the register quickly. You can upgrade to a combo which includes a drink and a bag of chips, but this will tilt your bill over the $11 mark. There are daily specials that are reasonably priced around $6. Since you are the maestro orchestrating how the sandwich comes together, you know you are going to enjoy it. I know I'll definitely be back. read more

Stopped by here last night (Jan 2, 2023) hoping to get something that resembled a gyro. While the person on staff was super nice, she also had to be very apologetic. I ordered a Super Greek Pita with Sucha. She had to apologize that they didn't have tomatoes, tzatziki sauce, or feta cheese; at this point, any resemblance to the usual gyro was lost. I blame management for not planning properly or supplying the restaurant with ingredients. Couldn't you at least go out to a local grocery store and buy some feta and tomatoes? I ordered a large, lamb gyro and was extremely disappointed with the result. The dish was sloppily made, with a block of lamb lazily pushed to one side of the inner, with a lukewarm salad pushed up next to it. It was too wide to bite into both ingredients simultaneously. The cook or owner should be ashamed to be serving this food. I tasted each item that I had ordered and could barely swallow the ingredients. It had a spoiled/stale taste along with some other funky spice. It was poorly put together with cheap ingredients. It had nothing to do with what one would ever expect, even at the most basic Mediterranean restaurants. Falafel pita for the win! Prior to my first falafel pita, I wasn't a fan of Pita Pit. I actually didn't like the place at all. However, since my first falafel pita, I've changed my opinion and find myself craving falafel pita. The service here is always very good. The pita artists are super friendly and make sure that your order is exactly what you want. It's not a cheap eat. A falafel pita and beverage cost me just over $10. There are weekly specials. Be sure to check the board out front for the $5 pita of the day. Tip: Check in on Yelp for a free small fountain drink. read more

Truth is, I like pita pit. It's alright for what it is. It's not what you should get for your money but hey, when is it ever enough. It's not the food I have a problem with, though. I ordered food; like 50 dollars worth with my friends, and as I'm taking my food (with the intention of tipping) the delivery guy speaks up and says "So the order says you'll tip with cash?" Never in my LIFE have I ever had someone ask me for a tip. It's terrible customer service no matter what the circumstance is. It speaks poorly of the restaurant and their values as a business. Between that and an hour long wait for food with a delivery fee, plus the 17 extra cents that's tacked on for whatever reason when I order online, it's a huge disappointment and you have lost several customers. read more

I honestly can't say anything about the food although it looked great and I saw very happy customers who told me they loved it, when asked. But I have to write about two of the staff members, Tristan and Chris, who were so kind to me on a cold and rainy night when I needed a cab. I had already eaten elsewhere, missed my bus and they called a cab for me, let me wait inside and entertained me and let me know when my cab had arrived. It acts as a "healthier" alternative when it comes to fast food. And the veggies seem fresher than most fast food spots. Get a stamp card buy 10 get 11th free! I think we have a new go-to place for lunch for our clinics in Bellingham! Delivery to our location (with a reasonable minimum order size) is a huge plus, and the food was good! I also like the option to turn any pita into a salad. Online ordering is easy to use, and the food was delivered quickly. I'm not sure *why* they have breakfast items if they don't open until 10:30, but I'm kind of glad they do, I might take them up on the bacon-and-egg pita next time. read more

I love pita pit, its the best thing to have on a late Friday night! I love the Falafel there with some tzatiki sauce, which is bomb. Great veggies and variety of sauces and cheeses. Some of the other ingredients do cost extra, like the avocado or baba ganoush. So much better than any other make your own sandwich place. I love Pita Pit in general, but this is the best one I've been to. My chicken souvlaki salad with tzatziki was delicious as always, but what really impressed me was how friendly, efficient, and funny the staff were. They really seem to enjoy their jobs! In fact my dining companions suggested they were on something... that may be, but if whatever they were on made them happy and great servers, then I say sign me up. From what I can tell, Pita Pit is the same as Subway sandwiches but Pita Pit has more variety on the menu and no footlong pieces of bread. i had wrote a previous review a year or so ago that said 'hey, i like this type of pita. the chicken fixin is delicious' ... pretty short and sweet, and I still love the chicken fixin pita. some things don't change. But now, I must amend my review to reflect my most recent experience with the Pita Pit ... one that could have turned out sour, but ended oh-so-sweet. So one overcast Monday evening, after a careful perusal of the cupboard/pantry/fridge I came to the conclusion that "my food sucks" and that I wanted to eat something else. As a frequent downtown diner, I'm more or less burnt out on many places, but I happened to possess a "free double meat" coupon from The Bellingham Herald's Dining Guide ... a $2 value, and one that turns a good pita, into a great pita. Who doesn't like more meat, yeah? The veggies are free, after all ... So I roll in, listening to some NOFX, ready to get down on a philly cheesesteak-type of pita or perhaps the ol' standby Chicken Fixin' ... the joint was empty and there were three employees there, so I'll probably get good service/nice pita, etc. "Score!" I think, until I am informed that they are out of banana peppers. Which is bad, but I can cope and overcompensate in the jalapeno department to make up for any perceived loss of spiciness from the banana peppers being gone. I order up a pita, the guy is about to throw the meat on the grill ... and the girl tells me "oh! We are out of onions too!" "Hold up, pal," I tell the guy holding a handful of steak and bacon above the grill. "The onion thing could be a dealbreaker ..." and it was, in reality. I couldn't eat a $7 pita ($8 with tip) without onions. On my way out the door to the Co-op to pick up a steak or something, I realize I could just buy an onion there ... but would they be able to work with it in it's undiced form?!? When I asked them they conversed quietly amongst themselves for some time, and several seconds must have passed before they decided they would certainly make me a pita if I brought my own onion, and in fact, they'd "hook it up phat" ... so I told them there was a 50/50 chance I'd be back, inserted my headphones back into my ear (now listening to some classy Blue Scholars cuts) and headed up the street to the Co-Op. Ten minutes later, I was back at the Pit with an .83 cent red onion. One guy bet his coworker I wouldn't return, and lost, and he rang me up and chopped my red (organic) onion up as the rest of the team proceeded to assemble the largest pita I've ever seen. It is a testament to their amazing abilities to work with the pita bread that it was able to fit in one single pita, and the wonderful cheese medley they granted me at my request was oozing out of the edges as it was double-wrapped in paper, and then in plastic, lest the pita begin spewing steaming hot steak and onions at innocent bystanders anywhere within a twenty foot radius. I rushed home to eat it, and it was amazing. In fact, I couldn't finish it. I don't remember the names of the two guys and the girl (with bright hair) working on July 6th, in the year of Our Lord 2009, but I'm certainly glad they were. They made my dining experience fun, they went above and beyond their duties in chopping up an (outside!!!) onion for my pita, and they did indeed, hook it up phat. A pleasure ... all around. Whoever runs the pita pit, take care of those three kids. These are good people, and put Subway Sandwich Artists to shame. Word. The only possible downside is the stomachache I incurred the next morning from eating a whole red onion and probably three thousand calories worth of cow and pig products. Meh, w/e. read more

Went here the other night and had the Chicken Caesar. Delicious and cooked incredibly fast. I literally turned around after finishing my order and before getting to sit down they tell me it's done. To be fair, I was slightly intoxicated and my perception of time was probably a little off :) A nice change of pace eating venue to check out if you're tired of hot dogs or dumplings. Great service. It was probably around 2 AM and you'd imagine working on a friday night (saturday morning) that they may not be pleasant to order from, but they were all smiles when we went. read more

I ordered a whole wheat pita and got white, the gal behind me pretty much had everything on her pita wrong, and mine was so grossly salty that I threw half of it away...and I typically put salt on everything. By the time I was done paying and tipping, my pita cost 9 bucks, and I was finished with it before I had walked a full two blocks. It was flavorful enough, but not nearly filled to capacity. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love Pita Pit. I've easily spent hundreds of dollars here. It started probably 7 years ago after hitting the Royal and The Depot, I stumbled in there wanting food and decided to get the Chicken Caesar wrap. I instantly fell in love! This was amazing! We started to frequent Pita Pit weekly and it became a tradition to go out, party hard, get a pita and go home. I actually looked into opening a Pita Pit here in Burlington because I loved it so much but the amount of collateral you need to have is way more than I could afford at the time haha. Great food! This place is hit or miss. You can build your own pita's and they have crazy drinks as well to go with your lunch or dinner. The food is hit or miss though, like I said. I've eaten at the Pita Pit only twice. During both visits, the staff making the Pitas acted like they were doing me a favor...like they had some chip on their shoulder or something. They didn't listen when I ordered my Pita and mess up my order on both visits. The Pita Bread was stale and fell to pieces when trying to eat my Pita...don't ask for a fork in this place to eat your Pita pieces. All in all, the food here is mediocre at best. If in downtown Bellingham and wanting a good Pita to eat....avoid this place. read more
