Mid East Piece wrap- chicken, tabouli, hummus, feta, lettuce, olives, tahini on whole wheat wrap $7 (photo shows half)
Lisa W.

Last week I was at a party that they catered and the food was fantastic. At the party, they had different chicken and gyro pitas, hummus, Greek salad, Spanakopita and more. Today, I decided to check out Pita's Republic for lunch and chose the Mid East Piece wrap $7, which was messy, but tasty. The service was great. There was one employee at the register and one preparing the meals. During the lunch rush, they were friendly and efficient. I will definitely be back.

Gyros Pita

We've tried four Greek places locally, and this has been the worst by far. Getting our food delivered, there was no issues that were due to having it delivered and found everything present. Our gyros both had rotting romaine lettuce on it, which was off putting, and although we typically prefer romaine on most things, it was a let down compared to the iceberg traditionally used at most restaurants. The meat was very dry, and overall not very enjoyable. The hummus, we figured couldn't be bad, and I was excited that they had my favorite soft pitas included for dipping and were nice and warm. I tried one bite of the hummus and was weirded out... what was that flavor? Not like a lemon, but certainly something throwing it off in the worst way. I tried two or three more bites and let my boyfriend know of the flavor as my concern grew. He tried it and was disgusted, how can hummus be done so badly? Perhaps the product was old and had gone bad, and that's why the taste was sour. The pita bread ended up being the best part, and thankfully I had a container of Good & Gather Garlic Hummus from Target that we pulled out to replace the one purchased. The hummus from Pita Republic went straight into the trash and the Target hummus was much better. We agreed that this was the worst Greek we've had so far and have no interest in being back.

Pita's Republic located directly across N. Dale Mabry Highway from Sweet Tomatoes. Same shopping center as Shapes.

Pita's Republic is a fusion of classic Greek specialties along with fresh & healthy Mediterranean choices. The Pita's Republic chain began as the brainchild of Moe Elkasri who founded this Mediterranean fusion restaurant while studying for his MBA at the University of South Florida here in Tampa back in the 80s. Since that time he has opened more than a dozen Pita's Republic restaurants around the Tampa Bay region. This particular branch of Pita's Republic can be found on N. Dale Mabry Highway, less than a mile south of the intersection with Ehrlich / Bearss. The restaurant is located directly across the highway from Sweet Tomatoes, and in the same small shopping center with a Shapes health club and a mattress store. The restaurant has many favorite Greek specialties including pitas. gyros, pocket pitas, wraps, salads, and flat breads. But add to that some interesting choices such as pitas with grilled fish, shawarma (grilled beef), Philly-style steak and cheese, deli meats, tuna or chicken salad, and a big selection of vegetarian pitas. They offer wraps with Middle Eastern, Asian, Greek, Tex-Mex, and American fillings, If you prefer salads you'll find the traditional Tarpon Springs-version of a Greek salad with a scoop of potato salad, as well as several variations of chicken, and gyro meat salads. You can also have a chop which includes your choice of proteins along with lettuce, tabouli salad, rice, feta cheese, Kalamata olives and homemade Tzatziki sauce. For flatbreads you can order the typical Mediterranean choices with hummus, vegetarian, and grilled meats, or you can jazz it up and order BBQ chicken, Tuscan chicken, or Pesto chicken flat bread pizzas. They offer sides of hummus, avocado spread, falafel, tabouli salad, stuffed grape leaves, spinach pie, baklava, and a big assortment of fruit smoothies. The lady behind the counter told me that everything is made fresh to order, and all of their sauces are homemade. She said that even the pita bread is their own special recipe as a result of the owner's passion to perfect the mixture of flavor and nutrition. I had a tasty gyro pita sandwich with a small side salad, and very much enjoyed my meal. The cost was about $10, and that seemed fair given the quality of the food. Now that I know some more about this chain I will add them in to my rotation of lunch places to grab a quick, nutritious, and delicious meal.

Used to frequent here, but won't be back. Tons of bones and gristle in my chicken pita. Biggest turn off.

5-star update for one of my favorite Tampa restaurants! Psomi is a must-go for breakfast/brunch…read moreevery time I'm in town. I most recently took my sister here for the first time while we were visiting for a concert and she loved it, too! We started with iced baklava lattes and the greek donuts (loukoumades) drizzled with honey and this was actually my first time have these here. They're served hot and fresh -- absolutely delicious! When I want something light for breakfast, my go-to is the Everything but the Bagel yogurt bowl (house cured wild caught salmon, cucumber, pickled red onion, tomato, crispy capers, & everything seasoning). It's such a fresh gorgeous bowl, packed with protein. I also love their extra thick cut bacon on the side. My sis got the strapatsada which is a breakfast classic on their menu (greek scramble with caramelized onion, roasted cherry tomato, creamy feta, & grilled baguette). It's a very generous portion and she had a good amount leftover to take home. Of course, you can't leave without a few pastries for the road! They are a bakery-first concept and all of their breads and baked goods are made in-house. We got the baklava coffee cake and brioche bread pudding muffin to-go. Psomi never disappoints!

The service was also great. What I especially love about this place is how they go the extra mile to produce quality food. They bake all their things in house, don't use seed oils, everything is grass-fed, amongst other things. We ordered the bacon eggs Benedict, the Favosalata, and French toast. All were very good. I plan to come back here again!!

Everyone was super nice and it just felt like such a lively spot. Our table got a bunch of apps to share along with a couple entrees and all of the food was fantastic. The sangria was also incredible and definitely a standout. The only downside was that the service felt a little slow, so in between ordering drinks it felt like a long time. I did not mind too much though because the overall experience was still really fun. Definitely a place I would go back to!

We had a 6:30 PM reservation and the restaurant was fairly empty (about 4-5 tables occupied), yet we were seated at a very small two-top directly next to another couple where we could clearly hear each other's conversations. Several larger tables nearby remained empty the entire evening. When I asked about moving, we were told the tables were reserved and we'd need to leave by 8:30 PM ~ yet we stayed until 9:40 PM and those tables were never used... Service started off slow. No one greeted us for about 20 minutes until we waved someone over. When our server, Briana, arrived, she asked if we had been helped, which made it seem like there was a lack of communication between the host staff and servers. Food was okay: the branzino with grilled vegetables was very good, but the octopus was extremely tough and chewy. My plate was also chipped on both the left and right sides, which was surprising considering how expensive the dinner was. Drinks were fine, just a bit too sweet. What really caught me off guard was the automatic 20% gratuity added to a two-top. The most expensive restaurants in Tampa don't even do it and this is not Miami. Overall, not a terrible experience ~ but not one that makes me eager to return.

The customer service was genuinely some of the best we've ever experienced it was warm, welcoming, and so hospitable. The bread was phenomenal and worth the visit all on its own! We ordered two İnegöl Köfte plates to split between two adults and one child, and honestly, one plate would have been plenty because the portions are so generous. The köfte was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the rice was absolutely delicious, and the fresh salad was the perfect complement. I also ordered a side of chicken just to try it, and it was equally flavorful, tender, and cooked to perfection. For drinks, we tried the Turkish pear soda and the orange soda. Both were delicious, but the pear was my favorite and is a must-try! If you're looking for authentic, flavorful Turkish food with generous portions and outstanding hospitality, this is the place. We will definitely be back!

I was also shocked I had never heard of it. I went yesterday for the first time to have it in person and was blown away at the quality of food in terms of how fresh EVERYTHING was and how efficient the service was. The staff was so so wonderful. Cassie, Clayton, & Joy were all such a pleasure to meet and speak to. I'll be happy to go support them in their new location opening in Largo. Getting into the food - here's what we ordered and thoughts on each: - Trio of Spreads: Pesto Hummus, Roasted Garlic Feta, Tzatziki w/ grilled & fried pita chips. Each dip was INSANE and you could tell by the taste they were not only homemade but made to order. My favorite was the whipped feta but i could genuinely eat each of them everyday. They asked if we wanted the pita grilled or fried and when I asked which was better they gave us both! And I'm so glad they did because I really enjoyed both and had never had fried pita before (delicious of course). I will be getting this every time. I do remember the dips going crazy when we had gotten it catered and they hit just as hard this time around. - Chopped Greek Salad w/ potato salad. I had this infamous dish when we had it catered and I was literally addicted to the potato salad. I remember I had a plate of everything else then went back for a full plate of the potato salad. I definitely recommend getting this salad chopped over the traditional way as it is much easier to eat. So unique they add the pasta salad to it!! - Chicken Souvlaki Pita. I always get gyro pitas so was trying to switch it up here and I was so glad to finally try Chicken Souvlaki (I've had Greek sooo many times but never tried it) and it was SO yum. Definitely a good change of pace for me. - Gyro Pita Platter. Still needed to try out their gyro so got the platter which is basically a deconstructed pita. I love that you're able to add as much or little of each of the ingredients - it reminds me of taco nights! The gyro was fire of course. - Greek Feta Fries. These were seasoned to PERFECTION. I was stuffed but couldn't stop eating them. You gotta order these at every Greek place and constantly compare. These were a wedge vibe and the perfect amount of potato in my opinion (I'm Irish so I prefer a thick steak fry to a skinny mcdonald's fry). The flavor went crazy. EXTRA SAUCES - DONT SLEEP ON THE SPICY TZATZIKI
