Nestled in between the BK, the Dunkin and the McD is an interesting choice for drive through/fast food directly across from the beer Jungle. The Gyro & Fries meal, for $8.99 with my choice of original gyro meat. You can also get it with chicken. My Gyro meal was one large heaped up pita, full of delicious gyro meat and tzatziki sauce along with a mound of crispy good fries. I felt it was a nice portion for the price! The meat was full of that familiar gyro flavor and blended well with the creamy dill-liciousness of the tzatziki. I enjoyed every bite. Service was fast and friendly for me, going through the drive-thru. I'd have NO problem going back! After returning to our hotel, the Hampton Inn, I had the late night munchies so I walked to the McDonald's next door. Closed. So I walked to the opposite side and the Dunkin Donuts was also closed, but beyond that was this little hole in the wall Garden Gyros. You walk can go thru the drive thru or walk up and place your order. Their menu is varied and reminds me very much of Purple Onion at home. There's everything from hamburgers, fish sandwich, greek salads, to of course gyros. I just went to the top and ordered the combo #1, gyro, fries and drink for right at about $10. There are only about 3 small tables to sit and they could've used a good wiping, but it's either stand or sit and wait for your order. About 10 minutes later I got my food and walked 2 blocks back to the hotel. The pita bread was soft and slightly toasted, filled with grilled lamb seasoned nicely. This place is a dump. You can see from the street that it is run down. upon entering the building the first thing you notice is that the roof is leaking and the floor is filthy. It's type of place where if you don't pay ahead you're probably going to leave once you see the state of the interior. Upon receiving my food I really begin to question my life choices. Should I eat it or just throw it away. I open my to-go box and see that the food appears to be appetizing. I give the to-go box a good sniff and something just smelled off. Since I had already spent my money and I live by the theory of no risk it no biscuit I braved the disaster of this to go box. The wings were terrible. I wouldn't be surprised if they were yesterday's wings flash-fried for a fews to warm them up. The sauce was super watery and flavorless except for this strange metallic taste. I stopped eating the chicken wings which isn't something I do very often because I love chicken wings. I moved on to the gyro that I ordered and it was covered in tzatziki that seems spoiled. It tasted more like rancid tartar sauce than zatziki. Because my sandwich was covered in it it made it damn near inedible. I opened the wrapper and it looked like bukkake scene. The staff was very welcoming, and the portions were nice. I tried the fried scallops which were interesting as scallops a are soft and the outside was crispy. Although seasoned and breaded nicely, I do not think I would try this dish again. It is more of a texture thing and not anything to do with the restaurant itself--I'll probably stick to things like fried calamari as the textures do not conflict. This place was amazing, but not just because of the food, the variety, or the pricing. The best thing about Garden Gyros is the owner. I'm not sure of his name, and honestly I'm just assuming he's the owner, but charisma and customer service of that man is unmatched and impeccable. I witnessed him personally come out and take the order of someone who was struggling and seemed nervous in the car in front of me in the drive thru and he ended up making them laugh and satisfied with their choice and experience. Now onto the food, I got the gyro + 10 boneless wings with a drink combo and it was only 11 bucks, added a side of fries and I ate all that food for only 13 dollars, incredible deal in todays food market. I was surprised as well by the variety of menu choices from crab legs, to shrimp, to even fettuccine Alfredo! Ordered last night around 11:30 PM through Door Dash as an advance order to be delivered at 1:30 AM. The boyfriend works 2nd shift so it was really convenient that it was open late enough for us to have a couple dranks at home and get dinner delivered. Couldn't decide on what to get so we ordered 2 lamb gyros, a cheesesteak, buffalo wings, and cheese fries. Food came on time and was hot! The gyros were so yummy! The wings were cooked well but there was some sweetness to the hot. Good but next time I'll try a different flavor like garlic parm and add my own hot sauce. Door Dash did not give an option to customize the cheesesteak so it came with tomatoes (which we pulled off) and there was heat... like jalapenos. If we had the option to customize we would've said no peppers (any kind). Even with the additions, it was good and we'd order again. The cheese fries..... mmmmm.... as expected they were a little soggy. Not much but it's expected with any take out/delivery. It was comparable to eating a cardboard sandwich dipped in water. There was absolutely no flavor, the yellow/gray chicken tasted bland, the yogurt sauce which had huge chunks of herbs, NO FLAVOR. We found this restaurant on yelp and it did not disappoint! We have now visited twice. The service was A+ and the food was wonderful!!! The prices were just as pleasing. I had the chicken Gyro meal with Black Beans and Rice. My husband had the 20 wings and fries! Yum!!! All of there sauces are homemade and the flavor is just wonderful! Good prices, large portions and awesome fries. I always get the number 1 - a gyro with fries and a drink. Less than $9 and it will fill you up. Gyros are good but nothing remarkable. Pita is always fresh and they load it up with meat. The french fries here are outstanding. I don't know what it is about them but they are great. This place has an extensive menu and convenient drive through hours. The food is good. However, the "12 inch" philly cheese steak sandwich we ordered was more like an 8 inch. We also added on a cheesecake to our order at the window and charged for it. We got home to discover we never got our cheesecake. I ate at this place about a year ago and food-wise it was good. I decided to go back today as I was in the mood for a gyro and what I found shocked me to the point of writing this review (and obviously not coming back again). This place has advertising tactics that (to my point of view) are illegal. First of all, they have signs out there with awesome prices, but the prices inside are different and they do not honor the posted signs outside. Clear examples: Sign outside states: "30 buffalo chicken wings + fries $10" (Awesome deal!) Inside the price list reads: "10 chicken wings + fries $9.99", and this is what they charge you. BIG sign outside: "Gyros: Buy one get one free". (PLEASE keep reading as what happened is UNBELIEVABLE) I asked the attendand about the Gyros and he told me that the combo (Gyro+fries+drink) was $5.99. I asked him about the Gyro by itself and he told me that the Gyro by itself was $3. I asked one more question: How does the BOGO-free works?, does it work with the combo or just with the sandwich by itself?. He said that the BOGO was only with the sandwich. (So far nothing weird, right?.... get ready for the punchline) Having all my questions answered, I then decided to get two gyros with the BOGO offer. The guy told me that if I wanted the BOGO offer then he would have to charge me $6.50. I said "what?, aren't they supposed to be $3 each?", he said "yes, if you buy them alone, they are $3 each, but if you would like the buy one get one free offer then the price is $6.50 for ONE and the other one is free", then he actually suggested that I should just buy the two at the "great" $3/each price as it would be cheaper that taking the bogo offer. I'm no Stephen Hawking, but the Math here didn't make any sense to me. I told him how can you have two different prices for exactly the same sandwich?. He insisted that the prices were correct, and even went on to explain this to me: This is what he told me WORD BY WORD: "Look, if you order a combo (gyro+fries+drink) the price is $5.99. If you want the gyro alone, without the fries and drink, the price is $6.50. Today we are having two specials, if you buy one gyro alone the price is $3.00 but if you want the other special, the buy one get one free then the price is $6.50 each so you pay $6.50 for one and the other one is free. To this "explanation" I only replied... is there a manager I can talk to?..... "no, it's only me and the cook". I didn't buy anything, I have no intention of coming back EVER AGAIN and I plan to let everybody I know what happened here today. read more
