    Pixar Fest!

Awesome festival to check out, especially if you have kids! You get the whole Disneyland experience with the addition of new Pixar-themed food, treats and rides. Cars Land had Lightning McQueen and Mater dresses like Woody and Buzz Lightyear. There are churro carts scattered all over the parks with limited specialty flavors such as "Ants on a log", pineapple and Mexican chocolate! There are Pixar parades that people save spots for more than an hour in advance (crazy). It gets really packed super packed so if you can, avoid the weekends. Gotta love spending the day at the happiest place on Earth!

This trip was by far my favorite memory with my parents. Originally we were supposed to go to San Antonio but we found out it was cheaper to fly to Anaheim. So we saw Disney was having Pixar Fest so we knew we had to go! Pixar Fest was amazing! They had so many exclusive items that revolves around Pixar! They had a special parade as well every night! It was truly a one of a kind experience and I am very glad that I got to spend it with my mom and dad! It will go down as my most special memory that I was able to have with my parents.

Disney's first annual Pixar Fest 2018 | Pixar Pier opens this summer; June 23rd!

Pixar Fest - A celebration of all things Pixar at both Disneyland and DCA! This is the Disneyland Resorts first annual Pixar Fest and it's pretty guh'roooovie! I was there on April 12th; the last day of Disney's Annual Wine & Food Festival - "We came, we ate, we drank, and then ate some more!... 'And drank some more as well!" The park wasn't as crowded as I had anticipated for the last day of the F&W Festival, awesome! The weather was a cool 73F; it was a very good day. Since it was the "Pixar Fest Eve," Disneys was getting everything in place for the premier of its first annual event the following day; it was like getting a sneak peek of the next day's events. Also, it was "press day @ the park," the media presence was there in full force along with quite a few Disneys suits & business skirts. Although, there was no official announcement of a parade, the park was setting up the route; not to mention the "reserved seating" areas. I spoke to a few cast members who were awesome enough to tell me that guests were in for a special treat, a preview of the new parades. (In truth, they are not "new," but more revised; version 2.0) However, there are a couple of new parade floats; cool. There's a great, new Pixar fireworks showcase @ DL too; it's a must-see! What's on the itinerary?! "Together Forever" - A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular | DL Pixar Play Parade | DL Paint the Night Parade | DCA Pixar Shorts Film Festival | DCA Pixar Pals at Paradise Gardens | DCA The Pixarmonic Orchestra | DCA 'And of course the attractions: Toy Story Midway Mania | DCA Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters | DL Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage | DL Radiator Springs Racers | DCA Monsters Inc - Monstropolis | DCA 'And did I mention the Pixar Fest themed eats and gear?! They have a two piece, collectible, Mike & Sully sippy-cup and popcorn container set that can be connected into one, larger piece; very cool. Of course, there's Pixar Fest t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and exclusive Disney AP swag was well. (Also, Pixar themed.) They have a very nice, Hawaiian shirtesque, an AP exclusive that runs a bit $$. I was going to get it but the $$ made me think twice... 'But not for too long. - LOL Photo - https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/pixar-fest-anaheim-3?select=xtjZpuPukQ-vBpz2PKuAVg&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ 'And I picked up a hat too; one can never have TOO MANY hats. (Fellahs, am I right?!) Note: All new items can be embroidered with your name, AP logo, or just about anything. A friend told me to put "DJ," on the back... I briefly thought about it but said, "Why?... 'Am I going to forget that it's my hat?!" LOL - So, instead I got "Aloha!" Pixar Fest spans both Disneys and DCA; keep your eye open for Pixar Fest specialty menu items. I am a big fan of Corn Dog Castle, more specifically the hot link corn dog. (Another must-try that I highly recommend.) CDC has a novel, trifecta of a spicy corn dog called the "Temperamental Taste-Shifting Corn Dog," and it works! The sweet & spicy sauce compliments the sh'picy corn dog beautifully! Photo - https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/pixar-fest-anaheim-3?select=I0Y-tuIKpHM1U8CkMIsHtA&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ If you're a fan of the hot link corn dog, I highly recommend giving this, available for a limited time only, corn dog! Q: What is it? A: Hot link sausage, pepper jack cheese, Cajun chicken sausage; all in one corn dog and served with a sweet/spicy blackberry-serrano chile sauce. Tip: Walk over to the Karl Strauss Beer Truck and grab a nice cold beer; pairs great with the hot link! A couple of cast members also recommended that I try the "Pixar Lemon Raspberry Cake," which I ate with an Anchor Blood Orange Blonde. (I was trying to keep it healthy by staying with a fruit theme.) Photo - https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/pixar-fest-anaheim-3?select=BLP_X0ERbueKW1HZjzDYtQ&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ Oh, did I also mention that DL has a Pizza Planet? I thought, coolness level; a zillion! I told my Disney co-pilot, let's do a pop-in and check it out. It was cool BUT I expected more; a lot more. (Shrugs) So, before you go spending $10 for a slice or $40 for a whole pie; I advise you check it out before hand, take a walk around, survey the food land, and then decide. Just say, we didn't stay stop to eat. We've been back several times since Pixar Fest opened. One of the best perks to having an AP is the ability to come & go without any pressure to stay 12 hours in one visit. (Well, that along with the discounts and exclusive offers are also perks!) I was just there yesterday, 05/16/18, and the initial crowds for Pixar Fest have dropped significantly. It has been a long while since I've seen such a low attendance; weather was a very cool, 70F; it was a GREAT day. I highly suggest you get in while you can before the summer crowds start ramping up and blackout dates start kicking in! - Big Aloha! Food: 4 Ambiance: 5 Service: 5 Value: 4

DCA hosted the Paint the Night parade, it was our first time seeing it, they had lots of Pixar characters, very cool light show. We found some good viewing spots, the show lasted 20 min or so.

    Melissa N.

Finally!!!! A celebration of Pixar characters all over the park! The new firework show had tons of colorful lights, lasers, and fireworks illuminating the sky! There's even a little surprise flying over the castle! Once again Disney outdoes itself with their shows. You better be prepared to drop a lot of $$$ cause I swear I had to buy Pixar everything. I got the giant alien macaroon, the Pixar fest pin, the sulley popcorn box with the Mike wizowski sipper (they clip together to make a duo) and shirt. I wanted to buy more but had to stop myself. Its so fun to look at all the new editions to the park!

Knotts continues to do little to curtail the overpopulation of rampant and out of control teenagers that seem to take over the park every time we go. Despite their new policy that teenagers aren't allowed to be in the park without an adult they seem to do little to police their own policy. On our family trip a few months ago, it was clear that teenagers roaming the park freely, being disrespectful to guests and not being told anything by park staff was once again taking place. My daughter recently had her eighth-grade trip recently and the park was so overcrowded her and her friends were able to only get on ONE ride. Yes, that's correct. They got on ONE ride and were there over 7 hours. This was due entirely because they over booked and had probably dozens of schools there from all over So. Cal. Why in the world would they allow so many schools to go on the SAME DAY! Greed, I'm guessing or at least incompetence. This completely ruined their day seeing as the lines were so long one ride was all they could get on. Of course this was because there were so many kids running around and completely took over the place. My concerns were validated in a recent news report on several local TV stations. It was reported that there were large numbers of teenagers that were looking to "take over" Knotts after a Tik Tok post was leaked out. Thankfully, police caught wind of this and their devious plan was foiled. Knotts needs better planning, management, and overall control of their park so that it may once again become a family-friendly enviornment.

Considering Disneyland is every child's dream to go I think dreams should come true for children of any age group as well as any working class, family or single parent could afford!! Disneyland does not disappoint, everything is amazing and magical, but it's incredibly expensive. The rides are all different and interesting and they do cute themes all the time especially the holidays, but the prices are outrageous! I highly recommend reserving your lightning lane for guardians as quickly as possible and pushing it out to later in the day or before your park hopping because the ride lines are insanely short in the early morning and lightning lane fills up so quickly for it. The Radiator springs racers are one of the longest lines in this park and rightly so. If you just do single riders it moves so much faster and I highly recommend because paying for a single use lighting lane for a specific ride is crazy to me but to each their own. ‍ For food they have amazing food festivals and a magic key terrace with some of the best Osso Bucco I've had and I'm not just saying that. The percentage of negative reviews is probably not a blip on the great scheme of things. People always writes reviews when something negative happens but when things go right majority of people dont. You go here and expect madness. Kids everywhere, crowds, etc. You want tranquil all to yourself feel and vibes, go vacation to a remote island somewhere. This is for the kids. Plenty of things to do. The water slides are enough to keep kids having fun for a while. For added fees there are other optional activities but seems more geared toward younger kids. so why 4 out of 5 stars? Because I've been to the one in northern california (manteca). This property seems older. More crowded, and just doesnt have the same lodge vibes. There simply isnt the same WOW factor as the Manteca location. There is no parking garage in Manteca but instead a vast land of parking spaces. So the Lodge just commands attention and shows you are about to enter something grand. Here they use a parking structure and although efficient it just doesnt give of same vibes. The "Grand Lobby" here is also just meh. The area and space seems so fragmented and doesnt have a good flow. The manteca location is structured so well. You walk in from the main entrance and you are really in a Grand Lobby with the towering fireplace. Here its off to the side and now filled with arcade games. That fireplace is usually the photo spot for families in Manteca. Here you really dont have that. People have said the waterpark itself is better here. If it is, I didn't notice it too much. It isn't that much better to really matter. The wave pool here definitely is stronger which is very cool. But the lazy river, and everything else seems on par. I believe they have an extra attraction with the surf/wake board simulator. So IMO, the Manteca location is better overall. But this is a much better location being in SoCal with lots of other things to do here. While Manteca is basically nothing but Great Wolf Lodge.

Details below. -parking was easy. -room check in at the kiosk was easy. -the kiosk printed our wristbands out. -I got a text with our room number about 30 min later (I would have preferred no wait, but it was the busy check in time). -we went to dinner at BJs down the road, no wait, very good 2 family dinner. Great M-F deals. -my kids did the high ropes course and liked it. We hit the arcade for about 15 minutes, they didn't really like it (but it's under construction, they were moving machines up into the lobby). -I brought chocolate croissants and muffins, we ate bfast in the room. The rooms have large mini fridges, there's a small microwave where the ice machines are on each floor, there's a good enough weird coffee machine in each room. -we loaded our regular bags into the car, checked out of our of the room at 9:40, got into the line for the pool. -got plenty of chairs together for the adults. -my advice: you do not needs chairs for each kid, especially older kids. They stop by, sit, and bounce. Most people eat at the tables, there are signs that people can only sit at tables for 30 min, we never had a problem eating at tables (it's so much easier). Don't waste a bunch of chairs on kids who never use them.... -the bar drinks at the pool were very very good. the Bloody Mary was the best one I've ever had. Yep. We had a mango pineapple rum drink that was so good, not too sweet at all. -every staff member we encountered was on point, very helpful and kind. -I charged everything using my wristband, very easy. CONS: -I've been several times. In my option, the pizza place is the only food worth getting when you are at the pool. The Bucket food place in the pool area is just not good, it's very cafeteria and expensive. -I saw about 15 people slip and fall, mostly near the life jacket stand outside the wave pool. Like full on hard falls. An employee has a floor squeegee, but it's pretty useless. Even people walking slipped. -the headboards in the renovated rooms are pretty bad and dangerous. They have posts spaced out like 5 inches that have right-edge corners, so, sharp. And the pillows are not enough and not fluffy. When you lean back, your head slams into those pillar posts. My daughter's head went right between two posts so she hit both sides of her head on the posts. I hit my head too. Who the hell thought that was a great design? After that issue, I noticed all the hard corners on everything in the room. My kids are older now, but parents or younger kids, take note.
