Even though it was heated up, it was barely lukewarm and the cheese wasn't melted. There was way too much bread. The service was fine. Nothing special. Pizza slices are good and delicious. We tried mushroom and broccoli with sausage. They aren't stingy with mushroom on pizza! The broccoli one was good but I actually liked mushroom one more. We also ordered the rice ball which I don't think it's that amazing. I felt the rice wasn't cooked well but maybe I'm not used to it. The one thing I would say is the customer service. The folks there seemed not happy?! When I paid, I did my math quickly. Then the bill came out $20 for a slice of pizza that was $10 and the rice ball $5.50ish. I confirmed again why is $20. Not much of explaining. A guy just shows careless and didn't even provide to give receipt. Eventually i asked for it and found out that they charged me a wrong item $3 extra! I approached them and a guy was gonna refund me. One thing was they did refund me the full amount instead of the difference. This is one of my favorite pizza places! I love coming here whenever I'm at the Westfield mall. They have a variety of pizzas to choose from. Their dough is baked from scratch daily, and topped with artisanal ingredients like cured meats, cheeses, and fresh produce sourced from local farms. I usually order their margarita pizza but I decided to try something new when I saw that they had seasonal pizza slices to choose from. I went here just a few months ago and they had: Margherita Rivisitata - Mutti tomato, housemade burrata, and basil Siciliana - Mutti tomato, housemade bread crumbs, taggiasca olives, sundried tomato, and oregano Zucca e Provolone - Roasted butternut squash, housemade mozzarella, Ghidetti provolone picante DOP, chives, and Mike's Hot Honey Cipolla e Burrata - Housemade burrata, roasted red onions, radicchio, Ponti balsamic glaze, housemade mozzarella, and arugula & Tartufi e Funghi - urbanitruffles sauce, roasted cremini & button mushrooms, Urbani shaved black truffle carpaccio, housemade Stracciatella, and parsley. I decided to try their Zucca e Provolone since I love butternut squash. It was delicious. I never had butternut squash on a pizza and it worked perfectly. If you like savory foods I would recommend this. It was a perfect blend of sweet and salty. I also really loved their mozzarella cheese it's delicious! And their crust is also really good. I like Eataly and pizza is one of the only foods my three-year-old will eat, so Pizza Alla Pala seemed like an easy option for a quick lunch at the Century City mall. It's one of the many counters at Eataly, where you can pick up some more or less ready-made food and seat yourself at one of the nearby tables. This one offers traditional Roman-style pizza, fired up on a paddle (or pala) and served by the slice. Service was fast and there was plenty of seating. Unfortunately, the pizza was kind of bad. I got a tricolore for myself and a Margherita for my kids, as the thick rectangular slices looked big enough to feed one adult or two children. The tricolore came with Ferrarini prosciutto di Parma DOP, housemade stracciatella, cherry tomatoes, and arugula; the Margherita with housemade mozzarella, Mutti tomatoes, fresh basil, and extra virgin olive oil. The toppings were probably fine, but the bready pizza base was hard and unappetizing. I think the slices had been out of the oven for some time. My prosciutto was dried out, too. Both of my kids refused to eat their pizza. I let the picky three-year-old fill up on chocolate milk and got a different meal for the baby, who loved both the meatballs and the cavatelli with tomato sauce from La Rosticceria, the next counter over. (Perplexingly, Yelp allows a separate page for the pizza counter but not the rotisserie counter. I tried to create one, but it got merged with Eataly's. Anyway.) It helped that the food got warmed up, so it wasn't just served directly after sitting out for hours. My husband says Pizza Alla Pala is often good, so maybe we got unlucky. It's amazing how horrible service from one kid can completely change the dining experience. I stopped by to try a sandwich for the first time and ordered the prosciutto buratta sandwich which was about $15. The price is, quite frankly, insane. It's really not a big sandwich and they hardly fill it with meat or cheese, and considering the number of sandwiches sitting out in the evening when I stopped by, I'm shocked this place is lasting. I asked if the sandwich could be heated and the brat working says "It's a cold sandwich, but we can heat it" . . .I was puzzled. I asked "what do you mean?" He repeated "it's a cold sandwich but we can put it in the oven". Completely pointless remark. And the best part? By the time I sat down, a mere 15 feet away from the register, the sandwich was out of the oven. The sandwich wasn't even put in until I paid and immediately walked to my seat, and of course, upon holding the sandwich and my first bite, this wasn't "heated" to any reasonable degree. Thought it was very good although a little salty. I am no judge of saltiness since I never use salt. Someone who uses salt on a regular basis probably wouldn't have thought it was salty. It was a a very large piece of pizza and a very good value for such a large piece of pizza with a very good thick and chewy crust. The line was long but moved fast, orders taken by one person. They honored my request for the slice with more cheese. They replenish pizza styles quickly and will ask if you want your slice heated. The pizzas are all gourmet and look incredibly delicious. They have all the classic Italian flavors and some more unique slices too. I went with the burrata and the soppressata. When you order the pizza they'll heat it up for you and place it in a tray to go. The burrata was packed with flavor and had a HUGE dollop of cheese on top. It was gooey and slightly melted which was perfect. The sliced tomatoes were a little bit on the hard side but they had a nice flavor. The soppressata had a strong sausage flavor with a little bit of spice. The cheese was also nicely melted and pulled to incredible lengths when bitten into. The dough for both slices was more on the firm side than light, and it didn't have much flavor. It's just kind of a neutral dough. I think if you were to heat it up in a microwave oven you'd get a lot more enjoyment out of it. Overall the flavor for both slices was really good. However, the prices were a little bit more than I normally would pay for a slice of pizza. Then again, you are at Eataly which is kind of upscale so...I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. read more

Upon ordering, they offer to reheat your pizza if it has gone cold. We decided to reheat ours at home since we had a long drive home anyway. We really enjoyed our pizzas but it was definitely on the oily side which left us feeling kind of bloated. Hubby got the Margherita which was really good but just needed some extra basil. I got the sopresseta which has the most delicious sausage and giant sopresseta slices. That was my favorite pick. Overall, great spot to grab some pizza to go. I have been searching forever for a good Italian pizza, and this was the answer sent from above. The pizza was delicious and thick and airy. The sauce was perfect, and the bottom of the crust was just crispy enough. Loved it with the pepper flakes. Only downside, the cashier was a little rude and there were no clear instructions. You would think an Italian place would have delicious pizza, but all I tasted was dough... Looks can be deceiving and this is what we have here. My friends and I ate at La Pizza and La Pasta before coming here and was disappointed by their pizza as well. We saw the pizza here and decided to give it a try. Their pizza ranges from $5-$8 per rectangular slice. It is a decent portion, but with $8 for one of the slice, I would rather go to Pizza Hut. We ordered Cacio e Pepe and Capricciosa. The Cacio e Pepe was plain and reminded me of garlic bread. The Capricciosa here was better than the one at La Pizza. But it was just okay. I liked how the pizza here was kind of crispy on the edges. But overall they did not have much toppings on top and they contained a lot of dough. Grabbing a quick dinner and celebrity sighting?! Yes, please! Just your typical Thursday evening in Eataly, hehe! Parking: Sadly, they don't validate here. The Setup Stand in line, check out the various pizzas offered that day, pick your pizza slice(s) and pay at the end of the line. You get two Roman-style (squared cut) slices. You can also request the employee to slice it in half (to share) if you like. At the cashier counter, drinks will be available for purchase. You can get either a non-alcoholic drink or a nice glass of wine. If you're dining there, your pizza will be placed on a cute, wooden pizza board. If you're taking it to go, they will place it in a bag for you. I ate mines there since I was heading over to Next Health later on. Side Note: Regardless if you're getting pizza or just a drink, YOU MUST stand in line with the rest of the other patrons. One guy attempted to just buy an Italian soda and the employee made him get in line. Common courtesy for the rest of the other patrons waiting. Also, there was only one employee working the pizza station and so thankfully, the patron obliged. Once you get your food and drink, you can sit anywhere you like in their dedicated seating area. Since space is premium, if you're coming here with another person or a big group, best to have someone secure a table while you do the ordering. If you're dining solo, you can either wait for a table or politely ask to share a table and I'm sure the patrons won't mind. When you're done eating, you can discard your own trash or an employee walking around will come over and discard it for you. I came on here on a Thursday evening and the seating area was packed. Luckily, one of Singer Rihanna's bodyguards politely gave up his table to me and three other female patrons. We shared a table (in front of Rihanna's table) while one of the ladies and her little daughter was chit-chatting with Rihanna's bodyguard while we all were secretly gushing and sneaking glances at Rihanna, lol! Here's what I got: Drink: $2.50 Sparkling Orange Soda Beverage - Aranciata Italian brand. It was sweet, citrusy and bubbly, which went perfectly with my pizza slices. $6.40 Funghi e Provolone: A MUST GET!!! I love this meatless pizza! Generous toppings of mushrooms, provolone and mozzarella with balsamic and parsley. The mushrooms were plump and savory, while the provolone and mozzarella were super cheesy, stretchy and ooey-gooey. The balsamic tasted slightly subtle, but sweet, while the parsley added a nice green color to the pizza slices. The pizza dough (ciabatta bread) itself was fluffy, hearty and easy to chew through and I enjoyed it. The toppings held up pretty well without everything falling off bite after bite. Quite delicious and rather satisfying. I would get this again! $7.40 Soppressata: Of course, I gotta have my meat slices too! This pizza was good, but it didn't wow me as much as the Funghi e Provolone. The toppings on here could have been a little more, especially, the spicy sopressata, which wasn't really spicy at all. The flavor was actually kind of bland (should've gotten the Capricciosa [prosciutto cotto Rovagnati] instead). The tomato sauce and fontina were its saving grace and made the rest of the pizza taste better. The pizza dough on this one required a little more chewing power. I wouldn't get this again. Service: There was only one employee (Richard Flores) working the front of the station that Thursday evening, while his coworker in the back was preparing the next round of pizzas. Richard was friendly, fast and efficient. I didn't have to wait too long for my food. I was in and out of the line, under less than 10mins. Celebrity Sighting: Singer Rihanna was there! She did some shopping in Eataly earlier and was eating pizza and drinking wine with her friend. She had three bodyguards with her (one near the elevator and two huge bodyguards guarding her in the front and in the back of her table). Her bodyguard that gave up the table to me and three other female patrons was super nice and cool. Fans requesting pics with her were politely declined (including us, lol!), but still got to admire her from afar. Before Rihanna left, I smiled and waved at her and she mirrored me back, awesome! She also said hello to the little girl sitting at our table. Bummer, I didn't get a direct photo with her, but I forgot that paparazzi were also (hidden) and nearby (Thank you, TMZ for my photo, lol!). Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Pizza alla Pala. Eataly in Century City is quite an interesting concept in Los Angeles. It's a giant mostly-Italian gourmet market with small eateries scattered throughout. There's a lot of hustle and bustle, and it's easy to get lost in the chaos of it all. Most of the prepared food choices involve some sort of pizza. Pizza All Pala is Roman-style, as their sign says. The crust is like panini bread, so it's on the thick and on the chewy side. I picked the soppressata, which consisted of tomato sauce, soppressata piccante, fontina cheese, and parley. It's tasty, and the crust gives your jaw muscles some exercise. It's almost $8 for a piece that's about 3" x 6". Doesn't exactly fill you up, but maybe it's about the experience. The second choice I could not name. Some of the name plates were missing, but it had arugula, grape tomatoes and prosciutto on a soft cheese blob with a super thick and chew crust. My jaw muscles definitely hurt after eating this. At one point, I was going to give up. I liked it, but there wasn't anything particular spectacular about it. With two drinks, it was about $40. Tables were at a premium. There were people with bags on chairs, baby carriages, people holding two tables, people who sat there reading their phones. I stopped by here as we arrived early for our Terra reservation. I was starving and needed something to sustain myself until our time was up. Since the pizza is quite simple, each ingredient needs to stand out on its own for the food to be successful. This is a solid choice if you're around, I wouldn't make the effort to drive out for the pizza as I would for the other restaurants in the area. The pizzas look and smell delicious and the employees are super friendly. Overall 4/5 because the pizza is delicious, but I wouldn't drive out just to get their pizza. It didn't blow me away or change the game for pizza. When we went it was pretty busy, but the line moved fast. We all got mushroom and cheese. The nice thing about Eataly is if your not feeling one thing, there's a ton of other food options available. Parking for this spot is located on the northeast side of the mall, but the mall has tons of other parking in their multiple parking lots. Located on the 2nd floor of Eataly, this is the first food option you will encounter walking up. Honestly if I blocked out the surroundings I'd have felt I was back in Italy, helplessly pointing out pizza I couldn't pronounce, but looked amazing :) I opted for the Soppressata (spicy salami, parsley, and fontina) along with another pizzaa not lited on their regular menu but it had 3-4 different cheeses and was actually amazing, I'm sad I don't remember the name. The Soppressata just didn't do it for me, it lacked flavor and felt like it was mostly hard crust. Clearly the 4 starts is for the other slice. It's not Americanized so they don't give you gigantic slices of pizza, but this leaves you room to sample a few different types, and once you see all the different options you will definitely want to. Seating can be a bit tough and you pay end up sharing a table with strangers which was fine by me. On a Friday night people didn't really linger just ate and moved on so chairs did open regularly. I never really had pizza with such puffy dough/crust but I enjoyed it. The only downside is that you could end up with a slice that isn't ideal - I got the truffle mushroom pizza and ended up with a slice that was at the end of the pizza and barely had any mushrooms on it. You can pick your slices but if they don't have any extras readily available, you're SOL. read more

There are 4 restaurants in Eataly and this one seems to move reasonably quick. We ordered a mushroom pizza, margarita pizza, and soppressata & fontina romana. The only one that was reheated was the soppressata but everything gets cold quickly. Service was good. The crust tasted freshly made. The toppings weren't enough to make up for the amount of crust you get. My husband thought the soppressata was too salty for his taste. When cut in half, you may barely get any toppings. It was okay but we are hoping to try the pasta restaurant next time. Seating is tough to get. read more

I've gotten pizza here multiple times because the prices are reasonable and the line is never long. I've tried almost all of the options they have and my favorite one has to be the tricolore pizza (but they don't offer this one all of the time). When I first started coming here, the pizza was always fresh out of the oven and had the right amount of toppings. I make sure to always ask for the middle piece, as the bread is entirely covered with toppings. The slices on the edge are mostly dough, as people have mentioned. Recently, the pizza has been cold, like it was sitting out on the counter for hours. They've reheated the pizza for me but it's still a bit cold and doesn't taste the same. I got the Capprio.... something (I suck with the long names and failed to take a picture), but I don't think I was overall happy with the pizza itself. It had thin cuts of meat, marinara sauce, and artichoke, but it failed short of anything spectacular. I also didn't enjoy chewing bread throughout the whole meal, which made the meal filling... My boyfriend got the Tricolore which was much better than mine. It had prosciutto, fresh tomatoes and basil, and cheese, which was light and refreshing for lunch. This pizza is fun to try. It's not your typical pizza and if you only like thin crust you're not going to like this. It can be a bit too "bread-y". You can pick which slices you want so I recommend you don't pick the end slices since the toppings can be minimal and there is just too much bread. I've tried the margarita and the mushroom and cheese pizzas as well as the pepperoni pizza. I didn't care for the pepperoni. The mushroom doesn't have red sauce but it's good if you like mushrooms. The Margarita is also good. I wish they could minimize the dough used as it can be overpowering and feel like you're just eating bread. read more

What a disappointment eataly! How do you mess up pizza when you've got the quality of ingredients and the ability to fire them up. I'll tell you... You understaff your counter (ie... the worker was so anxious and quick paced that he came off as rude and dismissive - something this Italian has never seen in the even faster paced environments of a good cafe in downtown Florence). Secondi - the pizza was dry and burnt - sadly two forks broke - and hopefully no dental fixtures - but even our sparkling water purchased couldn't help soften the amalgam of burnt bread - potatoes - and Brussels sprouts that tried to fill our bellies. (It May also bare noting that I had to walk around the store in its entirety before a bartender was willing to open our sparkling water purchased by the aforementioned rude pizza alla pala worker who didn't have time to open ours and pointed us to the coffee cafe who said they couldn't either.
