Great spot to grab a quick bite near Little Tokyo! I was looking for a quick lunch spot on a Saturday afternoon in the area and Prime Pizza was perfect. My friend and I dropped by around 2 pm and it was bustling. They have a number of pizzas available by the slice in the display, so it was super easy to pick a couple slices and eat quickly before heading out. Most of the pizzas available by slice were vegetarian, with only a handful of meat options. I wish they had the meat lovers available by slice. All slices were in the $5-6 range. We got: -Sicilian -Grandma -BBQ chicken -Spicy pepperoni I wasn't expecting much, but surprisingly I really enjoyed the pizza here. The crust was nice and crispy for all the slices. My favorites were the bbq chicken and the Sicilian (because of the pesto), but they were all solid. My only complaint is that it was a hot day out, and I wish the inside of the restaurant was cooler. read more

We were in the area and decided to drop by Prime Pizza for dinner! We ordered a full square pie (8 slices total), 1/2 Spicy Pep and 1/2 Sicilian. Food: - Sicilian: THIS was the winner of the evening! The sauce, mozz, ricotta, and pesto all came together to make a really tasty bite. The edges of the crust were nice and crispy, and you can taste the toasted cheese on the edges of the crust. SO good. We both decided that this was the best flavor of the night. I've had this same pizza at several other spots in LA, but Prime Pizza really executed it well here. So well balanced in textures and flavors, and the crust was both nicely crispy on the edges and fluffy in the center! - Spicy Pep: Solid pizza, and we LOVE when pizza places use cuppy pepperoni. It was a bit spicier than expected, so be prepared to *actually* taste the heat when you order this one! Great pizza in Little Tokyo. Some say one of the better NY pizza in LA. This place is great because you can either order a whole pizza pie or just buy by the slice. I like the square pizza myself. The Spicy Pep and the Sicilian are great choices. The chopped salad is a great compliment with the pizza. They offer a lunch special which is a great deal for DTLA. Plenty of seating inside. Absolutely loved this pizza. One of the best I've had in L.A. I also really liked they serve the pizza by the slice as well. Where I live that's rare so it nice to find one that does. Located in Little Tokyo. A solid alternative in the area. Across the street from the Metro station makes it great for a convenient grab and go. On Friday and Saturday they are open late, which was a game saver for us after we returned to the hotel after an LA Galaxy game. I recommend the Sicilian pizza. I also enjoyed the bbq chicken. I love me a good white pizza and this was insanely perfect. The only way to eat this is fresh and there on the spot. Taking it home would probably not be as good from what I recall at another location. This is located on the outer part of the Little Tokyo plaza so there are some metered street parking but nearby are some affordable parking structures. We were waiting for our AZ friends to arrive from their drive so we decided to grab a little bite from here. I went for the white pizza slice and my bf got the classic pepperoni. They have seasoning and stuff by the utensils and I was VERY surprised to see garlic salt as an option!! Finally tried Prime Pizza! I've always driven by it when I'm in LA, and I always see people coming in and out or sitting outside eating. I've always told myself I needed to try it. When I walked in, I went straight to the register and saw they already had slices ready for grab-and-go. I went ahead and ordered two BBQ chicken slices because I was starving already! The staff member who assisted me was very friendly. He let me know about the drink options they have and said the Arnold Palmer option is actually made in-house, which was pretty cool, so I went ahead and ordered it! I got a number, and they said they would bring my food to the table, which is pretty cool because I didn't have to stand around and wait lol. When I walked in, the staff were all standing behind the counter, literally standing and staring at me, so it felt a bit weird... almost mafia-like. I was lucky to try Prime Pizza in Little Tokyo because someone wanted takeout from there. My impression is the crust strikes a crispy balance on the edges but soft and chewy inside. Every slice I tried was loaded with melted cheese that actually tasted like something but it felt like it was missing flavor. I felt like 1/4 of the flavor was there and the rest was just crust. You could probably have a better experience than me. I had half and half of spicy pepperoni and supreme and nothing disappointed. I opted for a Spicy Pepperoni as that's a great pizza topping to test out a new place for me. I was a huge fan, the pepperoni wasn't overly spicy and was perfectly crispy. The sauce was mild and wasn't drenched all over the crust. My pizza's crust was almost like a deep dish, thicker than a thin crust, but not quite at DD level. I loved it because it was just right! The garlic knots are meh, not bad but they needed more garlic and better marinara. My only gripe with the food was that the prices are high. It was $70 bucks for two people sharing one pizza, an appetizer, and two drinks. Oof... I'll admit I was a little nervous walking in as they had two hours till closing and a young mom outside told me she found a roach under her table in Prime's outdoor patio! I saw it and quickly scurried inside with my friend. Thankfully, the inside was clean, I just think they need to be more observant with their patio cleanliness. Nonetheless, Los Angeles has its fair share of solid slices. One of the most popular spots is Prime Pizza. This small, LA-area chain is on more "best of" lists than it has Greater LA locations (which is saying something, because there is a Prime in nearly every LA neighborhood). Since debuting in 2014, the focus has been on New York-style slices, although the more recently introduced square pies might be even better. Unlike many other oft-lauded pizzerias, Prime offers 'zza by the slice, as well as a delivery service with a catchment area that spans nearly all of LA. My nearest outpost is in Little Tokyo, which shares the ground floor of an apartment complex with a FedEx and a Dave's Hot Chicken. You can't miss the firetruck-red signage and stainless steel patio furniture outside. The interior is surprisingly spacious for a takeout-centric spot. The counter on the left side of the entrance is stacked with folded pizza boxes, while the one on the right has plastic utensils and pizza fixings. The whitewashed walls are lined with shiplap trim and heavily decorated with Prime merch, pizza and sports memorabilia, and flat-screen TVs. Darkwood tables are scattered across the space, paired with black metal chairs and a half-booth. The slice display straight back is impressively stocked with many of Prime's most popular circle and square varieties. The air is sweltering in the summer heat, despite the portable air conditioner. I visited with my parents, and we opted to share a whole square pie (half Spicy Pepperoni, half Sicilian), a round White Pizza slice, and a Chopped Salad. (We also received a free Chocolate Chip Cookie as a promotional deal.) The square pie took my favorite aspects of Sicilian-style and Detroit-style, boasting a thin crust with cheese all the way to the crisp edges. On the Spicy Pepperoni half, I loved the plentiful crispy pepperoni and savory Calabrian chili oil, although I found the red sauce to be a tad sweet. Meanwhile, the Sicilian half sported a delicious drizzle of pesto, even if the remaining components were somewhat muted -- this style was enhanced by the dill-y Homemade Ranch and pleasantly funky Blue Cheese dressing. Our lone NY-style white slice was rich and impressively garlicky; even though it was reheated, its thin crust was neither soggy nor overcooked. I'm sorry in advance but the pizza I'm about to talk about is no longer available which is incredibly saddening because it was one of my favorite pizzas of all time. The Masterpiece Pie was a collaboration between Ggiata and Prime Pizza that had Grandma sauce, mozzarella, roasted eggplant, hot cherry peppers, stracciatella, prosciutto, and arugula. The slices were huge and the quality was worth every penny. The flavors were magical as well - tangy cherry peppers with creamy stracciatella and savory prosciutto. The closest you can get to this now is the Masterpiece sandwich sold at Ggiata. We also ordered the Sicilian square pizza pie which had a crispy, golden outer crust that complimented the fluffy dough beautifully. It also looks beautiful since there's dollops of ricotta that are swimming in the grandma sauce and it's drizzled with pesto. I was also shocked by how much I enjoyed the buffalo wings. They're a pretty good size and it's nicely coated in buffalo sauce. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating but most people were taking their orders to go. Great pizza and does not hurt to pop in to try some of these slices. Ranked/described: #1. Vodka Pizza was built well, nice undercarriage and minimal grease. Exterior crunch was apparent, with the more spongy bite in the interior/sauce area. The vodka sauce had a deep and rich flavor, very nice blend of tangy and creamy. The basils were so nice and made the pizza a complete experience for me. #2. Spicy Pep The edge bites of this were absolutely elite with a crunchy exterior and toasted cheese. The sauce was a solid marinara, acidic and tangy, but it wasn't spicy at all in my opinion. Solid curled pepperonis, pretty standard. #3. Sicilian This square was alright.
