My lady and I found Ellie's on Google while looking for good pizza in Walnut Creek and decided to give them a shot. First impression: classic little pizza-joint vibe--red-and-white checkered décor, casual, clean, comfortable. Nothing overly fancy because, listen... I came for the pizza, not the chandelier. Then I saw something that made me happy: GROUND BEEF as a topping! I don't eat pork, so finding a pizza place with ground beef sometimes feels like searching for buried treasure. Well... X marked the spot at Ellie's. We ordered a large pizza: Half ground beef, mushroom, black olive and basil Half Margherita with added artichoke Baby... when that pizza came out, it was HOT, fresh and loaded. They weren't counting mushrooms. They weren't rationing olives. They weren't hiding the beef. Toppings had toppings. Thin crust, good sauce, fresh basil, plenty of cheese as the pizza came ready to handle business. We sat outside under the umbrella with our Snapple teas, talking and enjoying ourselves. The gentleman who served us was excellent very pleasant, professional, respectful and attentive without overdoing it. Pizza brought outside Napkins Parmesan Everything we needed without having to ask And THEN came dessert. I didn't even know Ellie's had ice cream! The gentleman explained that they don't make it there and it's brought in from out of state,,, but wherever that creamery is, they know exactly what they're doing. I had one scoop of Espresso Explosion and one scoop of Cookies & Cream. Creamy. Rich. Smooth. Delicious. Creamy and dreamy, rich as can be, After that pizza, that creamery finished me. And apparently Thursday is Two-Scoop Day -- two scoops for $6! Now THAT is information worth knowing. My scores: Customer Service: 5/5 Establishment: 5/5 Pizza: 4/5 Ice Cream: 5/5 Why a 4 on the pizza? Because I've eaten some SERIOUS pizza in my lifetime and a 5 from me has to make me want to write the chef into my will. But make no mistake... Ellie's Pizzeria makes a GOOD pizza. Would I return? Anyways, a husband and wife team bought the place from the previous owners, named it after their dog Ellie and Voila! You have close to Pizza perfection. Chef's kiss! Great local Walnut Creek pizzeria with a small but cute interior if you want to eat in and easy takeout. Service has been excellent every time we've ordered in person or by phone. We like their pizza crust which has a good chew and the right thickness for our palate. They are pretty generous with their cheese blend and red sauce. The toppings have been good quality and while I would always like more volume of toppings, the amounts were reasonable. Their green salad was excellent, with a generous portion of fresh, crisp greens and veggies, and both their balsamic vinegar and ranch dressings were tasty. Cool place! Came here for lunch and was greeted fast by the front worker (I think owner). He was very helpful. Lots of specials going on but I opted for a mushrooom sausage calzone with a glass of wine. Interior is very nice and old school pizza vibey. The calzone came out quick and hot. The crust had a nice chew to it, not too thick or too thin, and the marinara sauce was great. I would love to come back to try more of the menu. read more

We each got a medium size cuz we were feeling very hungry. I chose the BbQ chicken, friend chose the Pesto Paradise (sans tomatoes). We also went ahead and ordered wings (8 to an order) in their Garlic Parmesan sauce. Limited inside seating, but most ppl seemed to be doing takeout/ delivery. You can tell from the moment you walk in that this is more than just a pizza spot it's a place for community, family, and friends. We ordered an extra-large thin crust pizza, half Hawaiian and half all meat, and it was absolutely delicious & perfectly baked with fresh, flavorful toppings. For dessert, I had the Moose Tracks ice cream, which was super rich and creamy. The menu has something for everyone. You can create your own pizza with fresh, homemade dough and delicious toppings, or choose one of their specials. They also offer sandwiches, chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, garlic breadsticks, salads, and desserts like mini pastry bites and cheesecake bites. Every bite tastes homemade and full of love. I love their story too, they've carried on a family recipe for over 20 years while adding their own personal touch. Every pizza is made with care and passion, and you can truly taste it. Absolutely loved coming here last night! My husband and I like trying new pizza spots and after seeing wonderful reviews we decided to try. The staff were so welcoming and getting to meet the owners and hearing their story of creating a family run pizza shop was so heartwarming. We made our own veggie pizza and it was delicious - the ratio of sauce, crust and cheese was great. Prefer a little less cheese but I'm sure that's doable. Otherwise they are not playing around when it comes to a a delicious crust!! Loved the bite and crispiness it had (ask for it well done!). Also we're delighted to see an ice cream shop inside as well - we tried a few flavors and can't wait to try more. This is definitely going to be our new neighborhood pizza stop! Great place and great people! We were looking for pizza and happen to drive by on our way to downtown WC. Once we got to downtown, we decided to head back to Ellie's and man, what a great decision! The service was excellent - friendly, genuine, and you really do get a sense they cared. And it reflects in the pizza they serve. Great crust and toppings were excellent. The first time I tried Ellie's Pizzeria, it was fantastic. My second order, however, didn't live up to that same experience. It seemed frozen and lacked flavor. The pizza tasted different and wasn't as flaky as before, and the wings weren't crispy (though that may come down to personal preference). Before Ellie's was Ellie's, it was Pizza Oliva, one of the best pizza parlors in the county, maybe THE best. So when they changed hands, my wife and I had some concerns. Would they really keep it the same? Well, if anything, they've made it better. The pizzas I've had from them over the past few weeks have been the best pizzas I've ever tasted. I order the thick crust with salami, mushrooms, green onions, and fresh tomatoes. Delicious. Moist, flavorful, absolutely perfect. With service and friendliness to match! First and foremost this is some of the best pizza I have had in the area, easily top 5. The pizza margarita was great, I am going to try the chicken paradise next time.
