Unfortunately, the experience at Pizza by Napoli wasn't all positive. Upon entering, there is a very strong unpleasant smell that may be old frying oil. In receiving a chicken topped pizza, the chicken was strangely cut into squares and coated with breading then over fried to be difficult to chew and very hard. However, the other pizzas received such as pepperoni and sausage were somewhat tasty. While the folks working were nice, the gentlemen that appeared to be in charge did not make it clear they are not or could not take cards as payment (there is a sign that says "cash preferred" but nothing indicating they could not take cards as payment). Needless to say this made it a challenge when the gentlemen indicated we could pay after the meal. Then upon trying to pay, that was when he said the card processing was not functional and suggested an ATM across the BUSY street even though there is a Fry's market in the same complex. Very strange experience and while wanted to like this place being so close, unfortunately there will not be another visit. read more

One of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time. The place reeks of old frying oil. The tables and chairs are very close together and claustrophobic (and cracked and in bad shape.) There is a sign on the counter that says they PREFER CASH, but then told me to pay AFTER I eat (since I was dining in.) They were not honest by telling me their credit card machine was down, but instead trapped me there silently until I paid, only to learn I had to pay cash. I explained I didn't have enough cash on me to pay for the entire meal and none of my friends had any cash. They recommended a Wells Fargo ATM across the street (a six lane, busy road), even though there are two ATMs in the same shopping center we were already in. One is an ATM in the Fry's grocery store and the other at the Credit West bank in the same parking lot as the restaurant. It seems possible that the ATM's are hacked and by telling you to use one, they are *potentially collaborating* with ATM credit card skimmers installed on the nearby ATMs. Needless to say, the whole thing was sketchy and I did NOT agree to pay cash or was warned that I could NOT pay for my meal with my credit card. Debit cards (used at ATMs) do not have the same consumer protections and the first ATM I tried (TruWest Credit Union) accepted any PIN I entered and then failed the transaction. So, my fears were growing. I ended up going inside of the Fry's grocery store, using the ATM in there to get out $20 and had to pay a $3.50 transaction fee. Needless to say, instead of a $7 tip, I paid the ATM transaction fee and consider the entire inconvenience of blind-siding me AFTER I ATE with a cash demand. Therefore, I paid what I owed and not a penny more and my clothes still stink like an old deep fryer from sitting in that place eating. They boast of an A rating regarding the Maricopa County health inspection, however, that rating is from 2019! (it appears the health inspection hasn't been since. No way it could get an A rating with the poor ventilation, hence they leave the front door wide open.) Food was also weird. The chicken on the pizza appears to be breaded. Typically, chicken on a pizza does not look like chorizo or a crouton. No one at the table knew what they hard brown squares were on our pizza. They have tiny little napkins, so when eating wings, you're going to need a LOT OF THEM! Furthermore, I was never offered a receipt and I have no way to confirm if my order total was accurate. The soda machine is behind the counter, so you cannot fill your own drink and no lids are available unless you specifically ask for one. Never again. No idea why anyone eats here. Very sketchy. Prices were NOT cheap and the food is not outstanding. I have never been here before. No idea why I (or anyone else) would ever go back. The staff is friendly. That's the only good thing I can say. Now I have to watch my debit card like a hawk to see if I see my PIN has been stolen... NOT WORTH IT! read more

This place is so good and I've been going there for years. So it's night I had a chicken Parmesan dinner which came with bread and a really great tasting salad. The chicken Parmesan dinner itself had so much chicken in it and it was not overly breaded which was great. The guys behind the counter are really nice and treat you like family. read more

You know how people say that people from New York are really rude and abrasive? That is EXACTLY how these pizza artists are. They're SO unfriendly, that if their pizza wasn't as tasty as it was, I would never go back. Despite their attitudes and severely outdated house/decor, we've always been loyal because it's A: a "decent" (not the best) taste and B: "decent" (not the best) prices. Today I got 2 pizzas and the smallest order of wings they had. Pizzas were DAINTILY clad with toppings (that cost $4 a piece) and their wings were burnt (as usual). I would have over looked it, as I usually do... But the fact that I had to endure the rudeness, get bare minimum product, and leave literally SEVENTY... 70.00!!!!... dollars more broke.... Food is pretty good, this is my second favorite pizza place in Phoenix. I am in love with their ranch. I do not normally eat bone in wings but I actually enjoy them from here. They usually have a deal for a large pizza and some wings (which is our families choice). The twin brothers are always super nice to me when I come in and the one at the front counter is super helpful. I have probably eaten here at least six times in the last three months because of pregnancy cravings alone. My only complaint would be the women's restroom. When I did eat inside a few months back there was no soap, no paper towels, no seat cover option and it smelled like cigarettes. I'm going to try a sub next time I come. Seriously though, if you like ranch you have to get a side of it. The restaurant forgot to give me the four that I ordered once and my boyfriend forgot to check to make sure they were there, and he definitely went back to go get them lol. So I guess it's finally time to review! I heard about this mom-and-pop well it's really a pop and Son type joint, from one of my co-workers who loves pizza...maybe more then I do! I've been several dozen times and every time I go it's nice the food is always the same delicious! I try not to order too much stuff because it's summertime and I'm trying to stay summertime ready but when the winter comes back around I'm going to try the eggplant Parmesan cuz it looks like it's going to be delicious.... who am I kidding the next time I go I'm getting eggplant parmesan and a small pizza maybe wings just for the kids you know....... as you know your girl don't eat the meat but I've pretty much tried everything on the menu except that eggplant Parmesan so the next time I go which could be today I'm going to get it but from what I heard the chicken is really good crispy and well sauced but don't listen to me try it out when you get a chance but we're mostly under quarantine....... sooooooo you ain't got much else to do... The owner runs a tight ship-he had A reviews humbly displayed behind the cash register. The most recent one was from July 2018. For $25.99 + tax, they offer a large one topping pizza and wings. We ordered a pepperoni pizza; it was simple but so good. It had a lot of flavor! I ate more than I should have. The slices were big, and the wings were pipping hot. We had to ask for utensils, which was slightly disappointing. It's also $ 0.50 for drink refills. There was a couple across the way from us who had a hot steak hoagie that looked so good. It was huge! They split it, but it was also pretty cheap. They said they had been eating at Pizza By Napoli for 20 years, and hadn't had a bad meal. My husband and I will be back, no doubt! I have been posting so many meh reviews I wanted to balance it out by reaffirming the good ones. First of all, think dive. This is not a "restaurant" per se. It is a family owned Italian joint and all the people who cook there (from what I have seen) are men. There is no ambiance unless you are into 1970/1980s local pizza joint with sports on the multiple tvs blaring and people eating pizza, wings, and getting pitchers of beer. There is nothing wrong with that ambiance, just know if you go. Why do I give it 5 stars? The food. The food is that good. These days I have been so disappointed with the restaurants. They charge so much but most of what they serve is pre-packaged/frozen food. How do I know this? Simple. You just ask - "do you make it from scratch here?" When I cook, I like to cook using real ingredients and from scratch. I see the link between what you put into your mouth and the health consequences. I want to feed my kids whole, real foods. This place 1) makes their own pizza dough, 2) bakes their own bread fresh daily for their side rolls and hoagies, 3) makes their own pastas (try their lasagna... amazing), 4) makes their own creamy Italian salad dressing, and 5) has real grated parmesan to top your food, not the synthetic stuff. Don't expect to pay chain store prices. You will pay more. But, for fresh food, it is worth it. We do not go often because my kiddos eat a lot but it is definitely worth trying out, and a possible vendor to cater your event because the food is really good. read more

This is the definition of looks can be deceiving. It's a very small restaurant, and it's kind of hidden in between other shops. But oh my word is this food incredible. This is the best pizza I've ever had outside of NY. It's not too greasy like most places. The wings are delicious and perfectly cooked. Not dried out like other places I've been. The chicken is still tender inside, but the outside gets an amazing crispy crunch. If that doesn't sell you on this place, I'm allergic to dairy and still order the pizza and suffer through the stomach cramps because it's just that good. If you know me, you know I am picky about pizza. I am always searching for the authentic NY Slice. AZ has a flooded market in Pizza shops now so it has to be great or I will probably not revisit. I rushed over thinking they were from Italy and perhaps second language learners. I had a slice of Sausage Pizza, side salad, and Garlic Knots to go. The slice was just okay, not great and not the worse I have ever had. Review, good not great pizza. It was a tad too crunchy to be NY authentic for me and again they used that crumble cheap sausage AZ is known for. For the life of me I can never figure out why pizza places in AZ claim to be NY original but then use that crumbled cheap sausage instead of the slices of good stuff like they do in NY. I also ordered Garlic knots to go. This was odd. They had no garlic on them at all. I felt I got ripped off on that. Even if they used garlic salt instead of a better garlic rub recipe these had zilch garlic on them. Places that charge for a soda refill turn me off. I worked in many restaurants and soda is dead cheap for the establishment. So, in conclusion if you live close by it is probably a good place to get a pizza to go since it is not a chain and locally owned. However, I myself wont go out of my way to come back to this place when Ray's and a few other more authentic places are right in my neighborhood. read more
