I stopped by to grab a pizza to go for lunch. I ordered a large thin crust pizza to go. It was hard to resist trying the wings but I was able to control my urge. I ordered a large cheese pizza, thin crust. The pizza was ok, lots of cheese and a large size for sure. The place itself is rather drab and showing it's age and not real clean. The person who took my order was very pleasant and I didn't have to wait very long for my order to be ready. Comparing this pizza to a few others I have enjoyed this is good pizza but not great. Very kind fast service , we ordered the large pizza with 20 wings . It was delicious and authentic New York style. Love the bread/crust and those hot wings had a generous amount of sauce with perfect texture wings crispy! Definitely recommend will be going back to try other things on the menu. read more

Been awhile since ordering here. Wanted a calzone and I was in the area and ordered my calzone and added wings out of habit. Calzone was excellent. the crust actually had flavor. Lots of filling! The wings were huge compared to a lot of places The restaurant may be dated, but it was spotless. You can see into the kitchen area and it looked just as spotless. The lady in the front was very polite and was tentative to the other patrons making sure everything was right. Goinf to make my visits more frequently! So we liked Ray's - after a day trip up north, we NEEDED pizza - and none of that typical franchise fare - my daughters 'demanded' the good stuff! So we found Ray's via Yelp! and ordered drinks and a large pepperoni; staple stuff. You know, the pizza was okay. The cheese was a little over cooked and had become slightly platicized, and it was piping hot on the crust but less so in the middle which was a tad on the floppy / break apart side, but it worked. For me, there wasn't an abundance of flavor and my wife told me I should have checked-out the seasonings available. I'm very picky when it comes to Pizza being from New York City. Fortunately, the slices here are spot on. Lots and lots of toppings and that crispy crust you get from back east. They also some really good salads especially their antipasto and dinners like the chicken Parmigiano. I guess the only thing I really don't get about this places whenever I order a pie it's a lot more chewy and doughy than the slices which were really crisp. This used to be our favorite nearby pizza place, but the past few times something was off. One of the last times our submarine special tasted like old deli meat and we did not finish it and considered it a one-off bad night. A couple of times since the Sicilian Pizza was less than cooked, so we just toasted it in our toaster oven. Like no big deal, wish they would have cooked it longer but, whatever. Then we get to Tuesday night 3/7/2023 we ordered a Sicilian Pizza and wing, I am kind of thinking we were one of the last customers of the evening. When we got the food home as we were eating the wings, we noticed they were a bit chewy and after a couple more became concerned they were not cooked. I ordered a pizza on Friday night and received a disgusting undone pizza. I waited to call the restaurant until Monday (debating to call) because I do not usually complain. But the pizza was so bad and was pricey. I called and spoke to the manager letting him know I do not usually do this and asked if there was something he could do? I offered to bring the pizza in as we still have it. He flat out said NO, he cannot do anything for a pizza we received on Friday. We thought we'd try Ray's Pizza as they were one of the closest places to where we're staying and the pictures posted of their NY thin crust pizza looked amazing. And the pizza WAS amazing! Toppings were plentiful and big (particularly notable was the ham, mushrooms, and anchovies... mmmmm!) Then there was the wings. Another win! "Mild" was more of a medium Buffalo which was perfect for me but just a little hot for the DW. The price while reasonable seemed a little bit higher than a nearby competitor, but the meal was better. We WILL be back and will be looking forward to trying some other items that we fully expect will be just as good. read more

Some of the fellas (and one lady) from work tapped me on the shoulder and said that they were headed here for lunch. I drove over there to meet them and to try out some pizza. They have a great deal M-F for lunch.... 2 slices cheese and a drink for only $4.10! Can't beat that! The pizza was good...crisped up in the oven nice. The cheese looked a tad greasy but it was not...no puddles to be found anywhere. The sauce was just alright but the crust made up for it. Really good crust! The slices were really big too! Score! Service was to the point, not friendly, not rude but you could tell that they were appreciative for your business. In the midst of businesses going under from the COVID I decided as a healthcare worker working the front lines. I'll do my part and order from a local pizza place. I order a GLUTEN FREE pizza and ask if it's possible to be the buffalo pizza ... she said yes and ended up charging me DOUBLE the price of a basic cheese pizza. I let it go and accept my 22$ small pizza. My pizza is delivered and when I open it I see it is made with breaded chicken .... I call and ask if this is gluten free ... she said " no you didn't say you needed it to be gluten free " ..... no one enjoys gluten free crust.... why would I order gluten free crust unless I have to!? Clearly they aren't well trained in this area of allergies. I ask if I can get my pizza remade .... nope. Can I get a refund ? Nope. Thank god for door dash cause they were WAY more helpful than these incompetent workers. Moral of the story. I'm now avoiding rays pizza at all costs. There's way more options for pizza in this small area so if they want business they better step up their customer service. read more

So I was going in on a Friday night to buy a few pizzas for my family tonight and I figured that Rays would be great! Embarrassingly enough, I drank way too much water today and really needed to use the restroom when I got there. I started heading to the restroom before placing my orders because I was about to burst. The last behind the counter stopped me and asked, "Excuse me, where are you going?" I stated I was going to the restroom really quickly and would that be alright. She told me that I needed to ask to use their restroom and that would be the proper way of doing things. I came in today and ordered a veggie calzone I messed up and forgot to tell them no olives so I decided I would pick them out bc it was my fault almost impossible it was like olives were the only thing in there half my plate was olives for the price there should of been a nice mix of veggies nope mainly olives and onion... and since when does a calzone have the marinara in the calzone I've always had it on the side and where is the ricotta... extremely disappointed this is not NY style at all ..will not be back!! read more

They had my husband wait 55 minutes for 5 slices of pizza. 3 cheese, 1 pepperoni, and 1 sausage. Really? Also said they could not put pepperoncinis on the pizza. Seriously? It is hard to find a real good pizza in Arizona especially because I was raised back east and have had some great pizza. One of the more expensive pizza restaurants in town. In addition they don't have delivery. It's good pizza! But not mind-blowing. The crust is actually super fantastic. FOOD: It wasn't the best pizza I have ever had in Arizona but it's right up there in the mix. The pizza was a typical New York style pizza, nothing special although the pizza is always piping hot, very fresh, and the cheese and sauce are excellent quality. Placed an order for pickup over the phone with the lady at the front at 540PM New Year Eve night. I was told by the rude receptionist it would take twenty minutes . Which is fine. I arrived only for her to tell us we never placed an order at their location. If you're going to have people wait around, atleast be honest and have some sort of hospitality. I will take my money else where. I tried to call to file a complaint, no one is purposely answering the phone. Im not sure if they aren't answering because they are about to close in an hour and they don't want to take more orders or if they simply dont want the criticism.
