Pizza Chalet gets automatic points for being a good old, well-worn pizza parlor, complete with vidya games, bench seating, diners in athletic uniforms, and separate bar side for ordering drinks (this would have been called "ye olde filling station" at the old Me N' Ed's in Garden Grove, sadly closed, but which this place nostalgically smacked of.) The aroma of pizza cooking and crust just barely burning in a lovely way also reminded me of my first love in pizza parlors. The pizza itself--oddly reminiscent as well, fairly thin and crispy crust--just lacking a bit in the seasoning and tastiness of a good crust. The toppings and cheese were very fine, and cooked how I like 'em, and the sauce was good too. It was only after we ordered in inaugural pie that we found out about the 2x1 "membership club." We got the spiel on how that works by the gentleman who I assume is the proprietor. He was chasing kids around and generally attempting to keep order in the establishment. Something about not sending out ads and instead passing on the money he'd spend on that to the consumers in the form of extra pizzas. The large was on the small side and not very cheap, so that's actually pretty needed. Did they take me to the limit? I don't know. But then again, I didn't try a pie with cashews on it. read more

Came here after passing it multiple times on my way home from school. You get a vintage vibe inside, but Tvs are perfectly placed. Ordered their lunch special and an order of bread sticks. I've been coming to this gem spot for as long as I can remember, it's been great since day one. I'm usually a fan of the Chicago style deep dish but this thin crust is absolutely fantastic! And crust? What crust, very generous with toppings and their wings are even better. I'd take the garlic Parmesan ones, and not to mention they have a killer deal when the Dodgers are playing. Another great item is the buffalo chicken fries, oh my mouth is watering! And it also helps that the staff is so amazing, always gets my order right! The pizza here is really good. Seriously. I order the combo pizza every month for a work meeting. With a -Buy-1, Get-1 card, it's a great deal! Crust is thin, but not too thin. And the toppings taste fresh (especially the Italian sausage). And you don't get that greasy film (usually from pepperoni) on the top of this pizza. When I order here, I usually polish down 4 slices. My go-to: Mexican pizza This place is dark and dreary inside. Definitely needs an update. I usually just pick up and eat at home. The prices are high for pizza. But if you get their membership card (which never expires), it's always buy one get one. That brings down the cost per slice to a normal competitive level. The pizza is all pretty good. A classic hole in the wall. The Mexican pizza is the real reason why I go here. It's like a taco meets pizza. The fresher the pizza the better since they have cold tomatoes, lettuce, and cheese on top of the hot pizza. So eating at the restaurant is best if you live more than 5 minutes away. If the lettuce, tomato, and tortilla strips get warm and soggy, you won't be impressed. I add some tapatio to it for extra spice. Since it has double the amount of toppings as a regular pizza, your eyes will likely be bigger than your stomach. It's very filling. Also note it doesn't reheat well. My 4 stars goes to the Mexican pizza. If I rated the overall menu, ambiance, etc. on a cumulative score, it would be a 3. But the Mexican pizza makes my list of unusually tasty and ingenious mashups of our beloved taco and pizza. read more

I love this place I've been coming here for 27yrs! My heart falls for deep dish pizza all the time but when it comes to pizza chalet I dont even care that its thin crust. The crust is not too crunchy but crunchy enough to hold the toppings. I brought my girlfriend here and she instantly fell in love with it. Its a hole in the wall stuck in time. We had been coming here for the last 20 years or so. It was our go-to secret spot for...spaghetti. Yes, they had a great sauce that was worth the drive when we moved from Covina to Upland. Well...this long-time relationship is over. We visited last weekend, and all has change. The interior/exterior for the better, but they ruined the special sauce. They also found a way to mess up the garlic cheese bread. Not sure how, but they did. Sad to say that we will not be returning. Good luck to them in the future, but the only thing they had going for them was the food, and now that is gone. I would welcome a comment from management on this post. I come here at least 1-2 times a month.. sometimes even more. By far the best spot in the area. We always get the pizza and wings...the wings by the way, are the best! The pizza is great as well. As far as for the service, never had an issue, and everyone is always welcoming. I highly recommend pizza chalet. My only gripe, is whenever theres a game next door, parking can be a pain. Have been going to pizza chalet since I was in high school and it is normally been amazing. I was in there this last Tuesday March 12 and you can tell it has definitely tell it has gone to shit. There was only 3 people working that night and to say all 3 of them were working is a stretch. The 2 young kids working the kitchen were doing the best they could by themselves while the other guy sat around in the bar drinking with the customers. I waited 30 minutes for my order which was from both restaurants. When I finally got it they Apologized a lot for the wait and the guy at the bar gave me a beer on the house. Over all the food wasn't bad. The owner needs to take a hard look at the employee that just stood around the bar drinking. If this was my restaurant he would be out of there immediately. Good job to the other to employees working that night but it'll be a while before I go back. read more

It's been awhile since we came to this place but now that it's Under New Management the people that work here freaking suck no customer service..... The staff is so mean and the prices suck now... I will not be throwing my kids sports party here... I came today to check it out for that reason.... Way to lose alot of money..... I will NEVER SOME BACK... I ordered a small salad there was a sign that said all you can eat well I didn't even eat a salad I got my son some carrots and celery I want to get a salad and she approached me that that girl approached me and said that I was unable to get another salad that my plate was already used that I couldn't eat it again I explained the situation that I didn't eat a salad that I just got my son some carrots and celery and she told me basically that was too bad well earlier I forgot to order my kids drink so I went back up there and since I was waiting so long to be served I started reading the menu and there was an extra piece of paper that specifically describe the salad that said in parentheses all you can eat well afterwards I went back up there before we left and they had took down the sign and then she lied about it read more

Me and my family have been coming here for years and not just with our family but also with our baseball teams and this past Thursday we were there for an early fathers day celebration WORST customer service ever! We ordered a unlimited salad bar (with bread added) first I was only able to get one salad plate and I went to get more but there was no more salad left so I waited a while because I knew they were busy so I was giving them the benefit of the doubt after about half an hour still no salad was put out so my husband went to ask if they could put more salad out and they stated "sorry, we are too busy" which yes granted they were but there was 4 guys working in the back and I dont think it takes much time to put out more salad, then we never received the bread we ordered along with our unlimited salad bar so I had gone to ask they stated they would have it out soon another 20 minutes went by and still nothing so I had to ask again then about 15 minutes later they finally brought the bread to the table and it was so burnt, by this time I was completely over! I WILL NEVER go there again and we will never suggest this place for our team pizza parties, such a shame. Bad night for Pizza Chalet. Got there at Happy Hour but got no Happy Hour pricing. 61.00 for a pizza, a pitcher of Bud light, and some mozzarella sticks. The salad bar was not chilled, had no croutons and scant supply. When I asked for croutons I was told they were "out". Grocery store in the shopping center has them, so... everything was lacking and a huge disappointment. We used to have a good time and good food there.
