This is my favorite pizza place in Ventura. It has the best pizza and very good wings. Family friendly and great service.

Simply put .. EASILY one of the best pizzas in town ( my opinion is: it is the best) , great lil salad bar that's always fresh, self serve soda , quite a few cold beers in tap , nice TVs, and an owner that is usually slinging dough in the back who really appreciates the local business. Staff has to be baked out of their minds, they ALWAYS forget something. Don't order more than 2 toppings on a pizza, they WILL F things up. My last 2 orders were missing a friggin pizza topping. I'm not kidding. Other people are complaining about sides missing too - what is up with these guys. They still DO make a really great tasting pizza though. I still order from them because their food is pretty great. Maybe stop doing dabs in the walk-in during peak hours, guys? read more

This place is a disgrace! I've never had such bad service in my life! The pizza was so disgusting I should have asked for a refund! I also found a short piece of hair in one of the pieces! I'm so disgusted with this place! I will only order from the Oxnard location on Vineyard Ave. I've ordered at the Oxnard locations multiple times because I live closer but I went to my mothers house I wanted to introduce her to the pizza and ordered from the this Telegraph location. I've always seen this little shack driving around Ventura and yesterday 3-22-2014, I decided to go around the block and try it. I ordered a medium sausage and Canadian bacon pizza for about $14.50. It came out piping hot and delicious. The crust was great, brown to darkish brown, a little bit on the well done side but that is my preference; crusty, crispy, with flavor. Real Canadian bacon, meaning not some obscure undefinable mystery cold cut. Sausage topping was a bulk sausage, but large, generous clumps, flavorful, oily, delicious. Not the anemic small sausage bits, well, those are good too some other time. Their little red pepper packs made it zestier, with more flavor and kick, though the parmesan cheese packs were probably older and not as fresh as they should be. I ate 1/2 of the pizza seated at the counter. Loved it a lot. I am just giving it 3 stars because I felt it was pricey, for a medium-sized pizza, but now that I got coupons, when I try it again I know I'll get a better deal, and if it retains it freshness, flavor, and abundant toppings, then maybe I will move it to a 4-star rating. read more

So We frequent this place and have found that the help is rarely there at opening. Today was far worse. We went to the door at 10 after opening and the door was locked! AGAIN! This time though we watched the two employees inside stare at us for about two minutes and do nothing! Pizza Chief has been my hands down favorite for the last 20+ years. With that said, my last 2 trips there, the pizza tasted different. The crust was different and so was the cheese. The first time I noticed this I thought it was just me. The last time I was there, yesterday, my suspicions were confirmed. My wife even noticed it. Although their pizza is delicious, their staff must all be high. Ordered a pizza with pineapple and bacon, not canadien bacon. Got pepperoni and pineapple. Took it back, and they made a bacon and pepperoni. Hate to pay for things I can't eat. Spicy foods make me ill. read more

We are new to Ventura and have just discovered Pizza Chief. We love the pizza. It is far better than any we have had at the big franchises (Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Papa Johns). The crust is to die for. However the attitude of the people behind the counter and their obvious disinterest in their jobs and rudeness is a real turn off. We'll try delivery next time so that we don't have to walk in. read more

I am sorry i have to write this review after so many years and all the buisness ,i have brought kurt(the owner),,i was born and raised on the east end of ventura but i will never return my family or league to this place after today . Yesterday i ordered a pretty big order from them and they got it completely wrong ,i called to inform them and the male devon who picked up stated while it states on your slip to over cook ur food ,first of all who would want overcooked pizza ..they burnt the food and i offered because i.couldnt even eat the food to give it back and he stated no its pointless ,its garbage now but please be a lot clearer when your ordering because i got a different story..uhhhh of course your worker is gonna say thats what she said ....in all the times ive order from this place and all the mistakes they have made ive either.returned the food or just threw it away because the owner has been nice and apologized .,,while todsy i tried to collect my credit and the owner kurt got on the phone and started yelling at me and said he doesnt see a credit for me on his board but he knew my address i was calling from hmmmmmm...,,ive sent this man a punch of baseball buisness,PTA,school events and fundraisers ..,while not no more due to the fact he said there are to many mistakes happenimg from my address and this will be the last time he gives me a credit ...hahaha mind u ive never asked for one when offered nor since living at my NEW address ive only order twice..ive come from SP to give him buisness,so have never had them deliever .,.this guy must be really stressed out bevause he didnt realize who he was yelling at but he will once he sees a dent in his buisness ...,sorry maybe you need new workers who pay attention to detail cause yourold workers were amazing but good luck to you and you lost a very loyal customer and lots of referrals... read more

Great pizza, service on the other hand is less than adequate. We walked in on a Thursday night. There were about 3 or 4 tables that were taken, the rest of the tables were covered in what was left of other people's dinner after they had left. There was not one clean table that was not occupied. As soon as we walked in, the young lady at the front register walked to the back. Thinking she was going to come out to clean a table we waited for a minute but she instead began stacking pizza trays. There was a group of us that came in separate cars so we decided to stay. We ended up having to clean three tables without any of the staff offering so much as a rag to wipe down the mess. After we got settled, we then stood at the register to order for at least four minutes while the staff had better things to do. As I said in my first words, the pizza here is great which is why we had returned but this lack of customer service is the reason we will no longer dine in at this establishment. It was very unprofessional, uninviting, and very dirty. The only reason I gave two stars is because the pizza is good. read more
