4.5/5 Stopped in for takeout at La Villa in Mill Basin. Service was friendly and efficient, especially for a busy Sunday. My Penne Alla Vodka with chicken cutlets was ready in about 15 minutes -- super flavorful, creamy, and well-seasoned. I'd give it an 8.5/10 overall. The only downside? The price -- $38 for one dish feels a bit steep these days. Still, with how good it tasted and how quickly it was prepared, I'd definitely return. Just wish things weren't so expensive -- both for consumers and for restaurant owners trying to keep up.

I have been coming here for close to 30 years! This is my favorite pizzeria. The slices have just the right amount of char from the wood fire to give a crispy crust. Their dough is on point and they use good tomatoes. I tried a zucchini square today and it was delicious. A thicker crust, not quite Sicilian thick, but thicker than your average Grandma. Light, airy and crispy and perfectly garlicky thin slices of zucchini!

I seriously love this place! It feels like forever ago I lived in the area. I'm giving it a 4 star for two reasons well 3. The salad was sad.Lettuce, cucumber, and a few shavings of carrot. No onions or olives huge pieces of iceberg lettuce nothing much. The salad dressing just tasted like oil not lemon . Pizza was amazing half mushroom, they use really good mushrooms!! Coffee was great and my father in-law enjoyed his huge sandwich on a semolina with chicken, arugula, mozzarella and ham. My pre birthday apple cake was supposed to be warm but was cold so was my father in-laws and husbands. Well maybe next time it'll be what I remembered again. Service was ok. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's extremely clean and nice for a Italian pizza place in Brooklyn.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Olive's in the picture I asked for.

The food is delicious here and fresh. I came with my husband and daughter. Our daughter loved the bread and so did we! We asked for more. We had the fried calamari as an appetizer. I had the bruschetta Milanese as my meal and my husband had a pizza. Everything was absolutely delicious. I didn't think I would finish my meal but I finished all of it! The food came out pretty quickly. It is a little pricey but you're paying for good quality food. I've definitely received better service, especially for it not being crowded on a cold night. We asked for our waters to be refilled a couple of times. Our waitress didn't seem to be happy to be working. We still gave her an 18% tip but a smile goes a long way.

My neighbor and I came here for a quick lunch. We decided to share a Margherita pizza ($16) and chicken parm ($25). I thought the pizza was tasty and delicious but, it tasted like it need a bit more seasoning. The chicken parm was tasty but, even better when I added extra cheese. I felt like the sauce used on both the parm and pizza to be a bit bland and need a bit more spices/kick. The staff here was terrible. They charged for things that we never ordered and rarely checked in on us. I felt that they looked at us and made a snap judgment and decided that they could treat us like crap. I noticed they didn't bring us any bread for our pasta like other tables got. I had to follow up for our drinks we did order. Isn't it standard to bring water for each table when a guest sits down? We had to flag someone to get water when our ordered beverages didn't show up. Personally, I thought the food was tasty but, the quality and taste doesn't match the prices. I mean $25 for a plate of chicken parm that was mediocre at best plus sub-par service, it's an easy pass.

The texture of the crust, everything! It was a small thin crust from a wood oven I'm big on customer service and our waiter was so sweet. The only thing missing was milk for people who can't or don't want regular. I really wanted a cappuccino but I can't have whole milk or I'd be screwed. And it's weird because cheese and icecream don't bother me at all ‍ I had just a shot of expresso which came in such a cute set. And for the dessert we split the affogato. The icecream melted too quickly, so I drank it but let me tell y'all the taste was perfect! I would 110% come back for the pizza! And definitely to try other things on the menu. Definitely recommend

The food is amazing here. I at least order three times a week every holiday. We do takeout from La Villa. My favorite thing in the world is a rice bowl from here. I can eat it every single day. I recommend ordering and dining here. I just wish they were open later, because I would order twice a day then.

Our spot in Jersey. Better hero too and about half the price.

I wish they sold the Vodka pasta separately as an entree because I would order that as an entree on my next visit. Another fabulous dinner at Ammazzacaffe!

The sunchokes and apples are tossed in a creamy and slightly herbal dressing. Burrata - really great. The eggplant base is richly spiced and tart to complement the rich and creamy burrata. Gemelli - disappointing, and the only vegetarian option. The goat cheese totally overwhelms the dish, so you can't taste the pesto at all. The texture on the noodles was perfect at least. Passion project - delicious drink with notes of passion fruit, chocolate, and some spices. The others in my group also had the duck (which they found to be a bit overly loaded with duck fat) and the reginette (which they enjoyed). I'd love to see a more balanced vegetarian main course make it on the menu sometime. The bill for 4 people came to nearly $230 after tax and tip.

The room is small and romantic, homemade pasta hangs in the front window, and the whole evening felt less like dining out and more like being invited into someone's family table in Florence. We started with the fritto misto, a well executed mix of fried fish and vegetables, alongside an insalata caprese that let fresh tomatoes, burrata and basil speak for themselves. From there we went family style, which is really the only way to do it here. The bucatini cacio e pepe was as much performance as dish, mixed tableside directly in the cheese wheel. The fusilloni di Gragnano from Puglia paired scampi with burrata, cherry tomatoes and arugula for a bright, briny plate, while the tagliatelle verdi brought a rich wild boar ragu finished with fresh black truffle. The two standouts, though, were the agnolotti ossobuco with veal sauce and pecorino fondue rounded out with thyme and lemon, and the lasagna Bolognese. That lasagna, layered with meat ragu, tomato and bechamel, may be the best I have ever had. We paired the meal with a bottle of Salvioni 2022 Rosso di Montalcino, aromatic and beautifully matched to the food. The space is cozy and intimate rather than sprawling, so a reservation is a smart call. Everything else, from the food to the atmosphere to the sense that someone's nonna was cooking just for us, made this one of the most memorable meals in NYC. We would return without hesitation.

I ordered the Portia cocktail... if you like Mezcal, you should definitely try this one. Oh the old school thrill of an old school beauty of an establishment like Bamonte's!…read more I just love this place so much! I can't say enough great things about the decor the ambience and imagining all of the past goings on in this restaurant. It's been watching over Brooklyn for well over 100 years now! That in itself is a Herculean feat! From what I was told it was very popular with the mob as they say... And that's why the kitchen which is at the very back of the restaurant has full glass windows so that you can see exactly what's going on in there. I guess some of these mob guys were paranoid and rightly so consider considering their history. I arrived with my friend on a Wednesday evening about 6 PM and there were some scattered tables but by 7 PM it was mobbed (pun intended ) in there!! our waiter was affable and patient and a quite enjoyable fellow. As a sidenote, you will not find any female servers they are all male which l lends to the old school vibe in my opinion. My friend ordered the lamb chops with broccoli Rabe. He enjoyed them but did mention that though they had great flavor one of them was slightly tough... It happens... My meal was pasta with Bolognese sauce with a dollop of fresh ricotta on top. It was delicious actually the sauce was excellent. I would've liked to have a different pasta shape but they did not have it. No biggie. I could really say the food was very good but it was not excellent but for me that was not an issue as I fell in love with the place itself. The service was excellent and the ambience was fantastic! I would definitely return again and I highly recommend it if you have never been you must at least go one time!!

Rating: 3.5/5 I…read morediscovered this restaurant on Instagram as one of the top Italian restaurants in NYC, so I decided to try it. It appeared to be family-owned in Williamsburg and consistently drew a large crowd throughout the day and night. Upon entering, I noticed the restaurant was keen to maximize seating, with diners placed very close to one another. The restaurant appeared to have a very old-school vibe; maybe that was the theme they were going for? The food ordered was: 1. Calamari - They weren't overly fried or coated with breading. Tender, and not rough. Flavorful enough; no sauce was needed (although it was included). A good appetizer. 2. Rigatoni with vodka sauce - Maybe it's my taste buds, but I thought the sauce lacked seasoning and flavor overall. The pasta was cooked well (al dente), but the lack of flavor from the sauce ruined the dish. I was really excited about this dish! 3. Cavatelli with Bolognese Sauce - I've had bolognese sauce before, & this dish was just weird. It felt like they just did it within 5 minutes of cooking time, & it was something you could've just made at home yourself with a jar of Prego sauce. It also lacked seasoning. 4. Chicken Parmigiana - I'm a huge chicken parmigiana fan, and I feel like it's always a must if you eat at any Italian restaurant. This dish was well seasoned, not overly fried, not heavily covered with cheese, and smothered in a good amount of sauce. The chicken wasn't dry either; it was tender. Weird part was it was served with a side of string beans & potatoes, not pasta. This was one of the best dishes of the night. 5. Chicken Marsala - Just like the chicken parmigiana, the chicken was tender & wasn't dry. It's easy to overcook chicken becoming dry, but the two chicken dishes weren't. Very flavorful & a good amount of mushrooms added for garnish. Same with the chicken parm, string beans & potato's as a side and not pasta. 6. Linguine with White Clam Sauce - I'm allergic to shellfish, so I did not try this dish, but my table said it was good. Overall, I thought the food would've been better. The pricing to food portion ratio did not correlate. It's a little on the pricey side for the amount of food you'd get, but maybe it's because of the rent since it is Williamsburg? Another thing, just like another reviewer mentioned, I felt my table was rushed out the door. We weren't even finished eating and we could feel they were eyeing the table (I was with a large party). The waiter who served my table, whose name I didn't catch, was friendly and polite though. Anyways, this is my take on this restaurant. Maybe this is how old school Italian restaurants are supposed to be & in terms of food too. Tip: Reservation recommended for dining in
