$12.50 for two slices and a drink is absurd. Is it worth it? No, not really. That is not to suggest the pizza is terrible. It is not. My two slices, a Plain and a Buffalo Chicken, were well cooked and did not break up upon folding, but nothing to compete against the giants further down the Brighton Line like Di Fara and Pizza Time. Unfortunately for the Plain slice it needs an injection of garlic to make it halfway decent, as the tomato sauce has a weird sweetness to it, and the cheese is a little too melty. The crust is good, nicely thin with a good crispiness. I would just like a little more flavor and maybe the review rating goes up a tick or two. But I have to judge what I got. The Buffalo Chicken slice has good flavor, again with a nice crispy (but not overly crispy) crust. The Buffalo flavor is not overwhelming but I found the chicken on the slice to be a little too dry. I thought I knew great pizza until I tried Delmar Pizzeria. I stopped by on a weekend for lunch, just before the crowd hit, and ended up ordering two slices of plain cheese pizza and a chicken roll. From the very first bite, I was blown away. Even though it was just a plain cheese pizza, the flavors exploded in my mouth. The sauce, cheese, and crust all hit that perfect balance. The chicken roll was tasty too, packed with chicken and cheese, but honestly, the pizza stole the spotlight. The friendly staff and the clean, inviting atmosphere only added to the experience. The crust was super thin and crispy like I like it, the sauce wasn't overpowering and it was melty and yummy. I got the vodka slice as it was the last one left so I thought it was calling my name. Where are the prices of pies and why aren't they listed on the board in store? There are no prices listed on their site either. Ordered an Alfredo pie for pickup and gave $40 only to get $11 and some change back. Really? You're telling me one pie cost nearly $29 in Brooklyn? Really? I've been coming here since young since I grew up in the area and my gym was a block away, but over the years I've just kept seeing the prices hike up and up. Literally a dollar for every year. I remember when an Alfredo pie used to be just under $20. This place has been renovated and it looks much cleaner and brighter, but what's the point if the actual food isn't improving? The workers were also unsociable. In the middle of my transaction my cashier for some reason got changed and she said nothing to me. Underrated With all of the great pizza shops in Brooklyn, here is one that falls under the radar. What a delicious slice of pie. Great thin crust, crispy, good sauce, and just the right toppings. This a fairly small shop that you just walk in a grab a slice. Nothing formal or even restaurant like. You order at the counter and pickup your food as well. I've been eating Delmar's food for the last 30 years. I don't know how I've never reviewed this gem, so here I go. The pizza is cheesy perfection. Thin crust and excellent cheese with the perfect chew. Not greasy at all. I gravitate towards the alfredo slice, which is a white slice with bits of bacon and I'm assuming some Alfredo sauce. All I know each bite melts in my mouth. I'm also partial to the white slice, which is what I had tonight. Can't speak to the regular slice as I can't have tomato sauce, but my mom loves it and she has very refined taste buds. The sausage and pepper roll is legendary with the crust having the perfect amount of crispiness on the outside and tender chew on the inside. Sausage and peppers inside are extremely flavorful and are of high quality. I was craving a Caesar salad like crazy and this more than satisfied that craving. Salad was fresh with homemade croutons and a very flavorful, creamy Caesar dressing. Last but not least is the penne with broccoli with garlic and oil. Pasta was cooked perfectly and I found this dish delicious yet subtle and perfectly satisfied my pasta craving. It is just as good, if not better than any Italian restaurant. Nicely nestled (say that four times fast!) on the four blocks of Sheepshead Bay road sits @delmarpizzeria . The place has been around 60+ years here in the Bay and staple of this community. 63 years is a long time for a spot to be making pizza, and Delmar has that recipe down pat! This trip, I had my usual: 1+1 hot plus opted for the Alfredo slice. That's got Alfredo sauce, fresh mozzarella, and bacon. I remember this slice being a bit more appetizing, but the trip wasn't standing out. Of course, the square stood out for me, but the regular took the reheat a bit too much.
