if you want inexpensive, guilty pleasure pizza, pizza d'oro is a great place to go. i went today for the first time and ordered a small pepperoni pizza. it was about $7.75 and was ready in about 10-12 minutes. also, the lady at the counter was very nice and efficient. it was the perfect pie to solve my pizza craving. i will definitely eat at pizza d'oro again! i heard they have good cheesesteaks as well, and they're conveniently open late. read more

The food was delivered on time and the pizza was ok. I ordered an eggplant parm and maybe this is a DC thing, but the eggplant was not breaded/fried. It was just chunks of cooked eggplant on bread with some cheese and sauce. It wasn't horrible, just not what I was expecting. I ordered delivery from here, and the food arrived quickly, and it was carefully packaged. I'm almost certain that the chicken tenders were frozen ones that they threw into the deep-fryer, so they were a little dry and burnt, but at least they weren't soggy. The eggplant parm sub wasn't strictly speaking an eggplant parm because it was filled with smokey chopped eggplant and cheese rather than breaded pieces of eggplant, but it too was fine. I was disappointed as this place has poor customer service. Not to mention they will charge your debit/credit card more than the original order amount if you are not extra careful. Delivery is a bust b/c the food order is usually cold and/or incomplete. The petty games they play here--just not worth the average quality of food. Had ten pizzas delivered to a friend's office for his birthday. Not only were the pies delicious but the restaurant staff kindly fulfilled my request to write a birthday greeting to him on one of the pizza boxes. I called to order a large Greek salad but was told that the salad alone would not qualify for delivery. I decided to add a medium pizza to the order to meet the $10 minimum for delivery. When the order arrived I immediately noticed that the salad was missing. The person who delivered the order stated that they'll just make a salad and dont worry. 15 minutes later i received a call stating that i never ordered a salad and if I want a salad I have to pay. Now i always intended to pay for my order but the fact that the manager/owner accused me of lying about my order really turned me off from this business. It's sad that a business that delivered the food to federal law enforcement building would be so rude. The girl who took my order made a mistake but I was spoken to as if I was in the wrong. After working long hours and the ROUGH week I had, the last thing I want to do is get into an argument about salad that I know i ordered. Overpriced hole in the wall. I don't get the best of dc rating. Maybe just compared to what's local around them? Aka mcdonalds. The food was eatable but the stuffed shells/chicken parm was smothered in butter, and not in a good way. It looked like the "chicken parm" was just reheated chicken tenders and I was not impressed. The primavera pizza was ok but I can only imagine eating there again if I'm drunk and lost. I also got a Greek salad but I did not eat it as they could not offer me Greek dressing with it- Then don't offer a Greek salad! The employees were loud (talking to one another) and basically doing nothing as I looked around and saw red sauce stains on the walls and a mess on the opposite counter. Must be nice getting paid to do nothing. I worked at a pizza place through high school so I like to think I have some say on the matter. Call me picky but this place gets no more than 2 stars. My wife were visiting area and ordered a medium pepperoni pizza, a hamburger sub, and fries. We loved the all of it. The hamburger sub was original An actually hamburger steak on a sub. The pizza was very good. The fires were fresh. I would recommend this place if you where in the area. read more

My go-to for fast pizza delivery. Their drivers are always polite and prompt. I've had pizza delivered from them at least 40 times. The big plus for me is that it is locally owned. Much better than the chains like Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, or even Pizza Bolis! read more

I've ordered pizza from here before and it was really great. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the gyro platter or Caesar salad. Lettuce provided in both were old and my salad came without dressing. I ended up just eating the pita with what felt like the pound of tzatziki they put into the gyro. read more

Best cheeseburger sub in dc; which in my opinion is better than a cheesesteak. For you former Hoyas, Pizza D'Oro's cheeseburger sub is better than a burger madness at wisemiller's deli on 36th st. I just tried this place for the first time and I'm a fan. I ordered a 16 inch pizza, half cheese half pepperoni through the Eat24 app. It arrived hot, earlier than expected (I think it was here in a half hour), the delivery person came to my door with no issues, and the food was delicious. We ordered the special buffalo chicken pizza and cheese bread sticks. Delivery was very quick (30 min and it was pouring rain). Pizza was tasty, however the toppings were have slid off the pizza when it arrived- still tasted the same, no big deal to me, just didn't photograph well! My protein zealous other half wasn't satisfied with the amount of chicken. I eat lite so i didn't mind. I would order again, large special pizza and cheesy bread sticks + delivery only cost me $25! read more

On 12/21/15 I ordered from Pizza D'oro for the first time per a friends recommendation. Everything went well until about 3 1/2 hours after receiving and eating our food. WE GOT SICK! We had two totally different orders NO mayo or other dairy products which could have contributed to this matter. It started with my friend who thought he may have eaten his food to fast and was the reason it came back up. I had no symptoms at this time til I got in bed about 5 hours after I ate. The pains in my stomach woke me out my sleep after getting that watery slimy feeling in my mouth I rushed to the bathroom before I could get there I puked all on my walls, carpet and self! I broke out in cold sweats felt so horrible that I had to call off of work today 12/22/15. Yes I feel better now BUT I WILL NEVER EAT HERE OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES. While I do appreciate your version of events it is not at all factual. The doorman logged the name and time your drive showed up - I'd be happy to share them with you and the yelp community if you would like - and then as they headed to the elevator your driver was worried about parking - mind you he had been there less then 3 min - and he left. What is true is that we did not connect by phone but there was no issue that would have required a phone call - address was correct, payment made, helpful doorman - should have been smooth sailing. I see that you write back to a lot of your costumer's comments and now i realize that your responses are not genuine. Here is how I would have hope you responded to my comment; I hope it helps you in your business: P.G., Sorry we missed you the other day. I've spoken to the driver and informed them that the should in the future find parking and/or not relay on calling people to come find him. Also, I know that you are close to us and we are thinking about using bike service since parking can be tough. We take our responsibility,to deliver the best customer service possible, seriously. And that includes taking a 2 min elevator ride if that makes our customer's happy. I'm sure that if you try us again you will see that we have made adjustments to better serve you. In general i havent really had a lot of good pizza in the US. Maybe we just do it differently in Europe. this one was no exception. It seemed more like something that you buy at at supermarket and then heat in the oven. Also bought apple pie that was a Sara Lee pie. The pie was actually okay. But not exactly homemade. read more

I hate to write this review because I actually enjoy the pizza here and have tried multiple different times. Unfortunately I was just insulted and cursed at by the owners for trying to park out front in a public spot they had "reserved" by standing in the spot. I was called threatened and insulted by this pizza shop strictly for trying to park. I will not eat here again and they should learn how to treat the people who live in their community. read more

Best chicken tenders in town, by a country mile. The pizza is good, and toppings are generous. Can't argue with the quality at this price point. Delivery staff is very good; everyone is professional, and most deliver right to my unit without me requesting it (as opposed to just delivering to the door of my building). They also usually deliver within 45 minutes, which is faster than the hour estimate that Grubhub gives me. Nothing here is haute cuisine, but it satisfies the craving. But honestly, no one does chicken tenders like D'Oro. They are hands-down the best. read more

The worst delivery experience I have had in 23 years of living in DC. I ordered a pizza at 2am, and was promised a 45 minute (max) delivery. After several unanswered calls, we gave up and made some other food. Finally, the pizza arrived at 4:15. The standard practice with late delivery is a free pizza; I was more than willing to pay a tip, as I understand these things are often beyond the power of those delivering, but after 2 and a quarter hours, was not willing to pay for the pizza. Despite its extraordinarily late delivery time, there was not even a discount on the price of our pizza. Tasty or not (I'll never know), I will never order from Pizza D'Oro again. read more

Don't have much time to write a long, detailed review what with my pregnant wife, but long story short: Ordered a pizza from this place for delivery, waited an hour, called the place. They said it was going to be delivered shortly and apologized for the wait. Waited another hour, and decided to go there and pick it up myself (my pregnant wife hasn't been able to eat anything for the last few days due to her morning sickness, and finally said "I can probably force down some pizza" so I was desperate to get it home asap) I walk up to the restaurant and the door is locked, but there are a couple guys inside. I gesture for them to open the door and they just point toward the "closed" sign hanging on the door. I once again gesture for them to open the door, and they, clearly annoyed, come to the door and say "what?" I tell them I ordered a pizza a couple hours ago for delivery and came here to pick it up. They ask for my address, I tell them, and then they say, "Oh sorry bro, the delivery guy forgot to take it with him." They hand me the cold pizza, I go home and give it to my wife. She takes one bite of the cold pizza, immediately needs to throw up, and I chuck it in the trash. Unfortunate, but factual situation that I felt required documentation. Again, this is a review of the service, not the quality of food. The pizza looked decent enough. Also, no one the place was wearing gloves or a face mask, which was off-putting. read more

Pizza arrived cold and half the cheese slipped off. Ordered the buffalo chicken pizza which had way too many onions and only a few pieces of scattered chicken. Crust was soggy and tasted like a bad frozen cracker. Greek salad was fine. Mozzarella sticks were typical frozen to fryer. Will not order from here again. read more
