Located inside of Cross Street Market: This review is simply for the focaccia bread! I was able to get the bread that comes on their caprese sandwich as an individual item. I asked for the bread to be sliced and warmed, and it was so perfect. The only thing missing was a seasoned olive oil, but I ate most of it just how it was and it was just fine. They do have a seasoned butter and marinara sauce to pair if you would like. I took the rest home and added olive oil, which sent it to the max! The order was enough to eat off about 4 times, but I ate it all in one day! I saw online that they also offer pizza making classes, which I'm sure is cool experience. read more

The cashier was friendly, but I'll admit I had a bit of sticker shock. $9 for a slice of pizza. I asked the cashier for the big slice near the glass display, which she acknowledged, but the slice I received was thinner/smaller and I noticed none of the slices from the display were taken. Maybe she got me a fresh slice? I didn't want to bring it up so I proceeded to find a table to enjoy my slice. The slice was flavorful with a drizzle of ranch. The crust was perfectly crisp. It was a bit charred looking on the bottom but luckily I could not taste it. Overpriced, mediocre pizza. Pizza di Joey claims that their slices are "jumbo" but they are no bigger than most pizza slices I've gotten. The non-cheese slices also cost $8-$9, which is what I would expect to pay at a sports stadium, not at a takeaway stand. Even with inflation, these slices should have cost no more than $5. Pizza di Joey is a no-frills takeaway stand in a Baltimore food market, and the service could have been better, with my friend and I each ordering a slice that took almost 10 minutes to heat up (it should take under 5 minutes). I got a slice of the caprese pizza, which was OK. The crust was solid with a bit of cheese. However, I was disappointed that the mozzarella and tomato were just plopped on the pizza, and had no olive oil, balsamic, or other seasoning to add flavor. I had the pleasure of getting to try this pizza from their food truck during an open house. They're based out of Baltimore with a brick and mortars location there so I was fortunate enough to try food from the truck. I got the Buffalo chicken pizza with ranch drizzled on top. The pizza was Soo good! The crust had a perfect crisp to it that was overdone and the chicken pieces were juicy. The ranch added the nice twang that I love. I enjoyed it so much I did end up getting a piece to go! I also tried the pasta salad which was fine. I visited Pizza di Joey inside Cross Street Market this past Sunday. First time dining in, I saw they had an eggplant Parmesan sub for $7 with chips included. Decided go give it a try and I thought the sub had a good portion size to it. The roll seemed to overwhelm what was inside of it. The bread was good but the eggplant almost got lost in it a bit. I would have liked the see either a different roll or more eggplant. Flavor wise, the sub was good. Had the cheesy quality you come to expect with any eggplant parm. Can't beat that price either. The chips were Utz which are not very exciting for me but I did enjoy the sub. I was surprised they had no fountain drinks; just bottled. I was looking to just have a cup of water but made the decision to go without a drink. I know this place is known for its great pizza....but I guess I just kind of expected a bit more from what I got. After not being greeted by the representative standing right in the front where orders are taken, I uncomfortably look at their menu that's on the counter. Still nobody said anything "May I help you", "First time here", "These are my recommendations"....we get NOTHING!! I'm about to order, until I remember who we are...enlightened, high vibrational, human beings that over-stand deplorable, vile, detestable, repugnant and disappointing customer service. As we walk away laughter ensued from that server, and he said "You snooze, you lose" obnoxiously aloud. What this spot didn't know is that I've done my diligence on them weeks before we got there. This place is definitely a welcome addition to the neighborhood and the market. Pizza di Joey pushes back on the idea that there isn't good pizza in Baltimore, so I applaud their efforts. The prices prevent me from giving 5 stars. $9 for a slice of pizza is just too much. Even the $7 they ask for a pepperoni slice is more expensive than I'd want to pay for a slice to grab every now and then.
