But my sister had enough faith in him that she put her name down in the waitlist a couple years ago. A few days before Valentine's day in 2026, my sister got the email asking her to confirm her order quantities and to pick up on Valentine's day. Apparently, my sister completely forgot her order. lol! This guy have more integrity than kickstarter projects and to keep his promise and to fulfill the orders!!! It's my first time having sweet water noodles. I have never visited Cheng Du in China (it's on my bucket list) so I cannot tell how authentic this really is. As a noodle dish, I really love it. I would buy the sauce itself and toss with any other noodles. (Business opportunity there!) The instruction to cook the noodles is super clear and it's a very simple and easy dish to make. If you can boil water in a pot, you can make the noodles based on the instruction with this noodles kit. The rice crispy gave an excellent crunch. (Now I can see why Paik Jong Won added the uncooked instant noodles crumbs from the package to a bowl of instant noodles). The noodles texture is lovely, it has a chewy (or the Taiwanese/Chinese known as "QQ") bite to it. The portion is quite generous too - it's one of those satisfying portions :) I don't think I want to wait for 2 years for this again. But when he opens the store or start selling the sauce, I will be there for sure!!

Celebrating our anniversary, I wanted something exceptional to let my girlfriend experience just how very special I know her to be. She has numerous dietary limitations that can make dining out frustrating for her. I wanted her to have a meal that rocked start to finish that she didn't have to consider for a moment any potential negative impacts. In addition to being a Michelin rated chef, Thomas specializes in anti-inflamatory diets. Xhef Owen readily accommodated her extensive challenges, serving up a meal so fabulous I felt compelled to repeatedly remind her to savor it, to which she kept saying, "You're right. It's hard to slow down because it is so delicious!" She was moved to tears by the gesture and, wishes only that she could have been there throughout the process to learn how to make some of the items herself. Turns out that is possible. Chef Owen not only does private events and pop-ups, he will teach cooking classes. I anticipate one with our circle in the near future. Thomas Owen's culinary talents may only be overshadowed by his qualities as a human being. I had a blast as he put together one of my favorite meals in some time. Fun, upbeat, perceptive, highly intelligent, driven and lighthearted with an overwhelming social desire to connect and share his knowledge. Whatever your dining vision, Thomas can help you realize it. I am already imagining our next. Thank you so much Thomas! You made me look like a rockstar!

It has been years since I first ate at Hook Fish, so I was stoked to finally revisit today…read more We ordered the fish and chips alongside the burrito with the grilled fish of the day (Rockfish). The fish and chips were solid. The batter was crispy, and the fish was flaky --what more can you ask for? The thick-cut chips were also seasoned well. Now, the fish burrito is not your typical Mission District burrito, nor is it a classic San Diego-style fish burrito. It feels unique to Hook Fish and the Sunset. It's incredibly hearty, packed with a generous helping of slaw, beans, and rice. While it has plenty of flavor on its own, it pairs beautifully with their house habanero carrot hot sauce! My only gripe is that the rockfish plays more of a supporting role rather than being the main star of the burrito show. This place has gotten wildly popular over the years, so service can vary depending on the crowds. Outdoor seating is a bit limited, but I highly recommend dining here if you can grab a spot. Eating fresh seafood with Ocean Beach just blocks away is such a vibe! Plus, there's a cute coffee and bookstore right across the street to help you combat the inevitable food coma afterward.

First experience, my friend and I were quickly greeted and seated - no detail was spared with the setting, menu, napkin holders, teacups and teapot cozies. Chef/owner, Christina introduced herself, the food and each item as they were brought to the table. :: Freshly made sourdough with house made loquat jam - wow the bread itself was buttery and really didn't need any accompaniments. Crunchy exterior, soft and pillowy. The spicy jam was so yummy and bought some after the event! :: Charcuterie for 2! It was plenty to be shared by 4 but won't complain. Dates, homemade crackers: sourdough and seeded, prosciutto, salami, marconi almonds, Marin cheeses and housemade bread and butter pickles, pickled garlic and onions. So good! :: Savory sandwiches: Japanese-style egg salad (some soft-boiled egg), Green goddess, and a monte christo with accompanying house-made strawberry jam. Simple but all nicely prepared and delicious! :: Sweets: so many to list (see pics) - all beautifully presented, not overly sweet and plentiful! Yummy This is the first tea party where I didn't leave hungry! And you'll have leftovers as everything was so filling and satisfying. I should've paced myself with the charcuterie! Event duration: 2 - 2.5 hours, 11-130pm Setup: 2 tables of 6 so unless you have 6 people you will be sitting with 4 strangers but will make conversation quick as the commonality is food! If you're an introvert you may want to invite friends/family to fill a table. :) With perfect weather, good food in a beautiful setting you won't be disappointed. Owner/chef, Christina and staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. I knew I would enjoy this event so much I had already booked the next event: Southern BBQ Luncheon ahead of time. Table for 6 fills up fast so make that reservation or be waitlisted! Thank you Christina for a great lunch! Note: Homemade jams, pastries (pre-order) and bacon available for purchase.
