I discovered this place here on Yelp, and after reading all the great reviews I decided to try it today for myself. I ordered an extra large cheese pizza and when I arrived to pick it up, I received a warm greeting from Johnny himself. What a nice guy!! He made me feel extra welcome, and that genuine kindness is so rare nowadays. The girl at the register was also sweet and genuine. The pizza was delish, nice and thin with a good amount of sauce and cheese. A little pricey, at $16, but that seems to be the going price for a quality extra large pie these days. I also tried the cannoli, which was also pretty good, though I am a chocolate fiend so any dessert without chocolate rarely wows me. It's a small place, not well suited for dining in, but that's ok with me as we usually get our pizzas to go. I am looking forward to trying some of the other dishes they offer, as it all looks yummy! read more

It's something about pizza and zeppoles that drive my family crazy. I was searching for a pizza place in the south Miami area and came across this gem. Everything about the place screams New York. The pizza sauce was delicious, the pizza crust was thin and chewy and the customer service was nothing short of amazing. To top it off the zeppoles (small dough balls) was scrumptious. My wife and daughter was fighting over the last one. Best pizza spot in Florida if you ask me. This is a must try!!! read more

BEST PIZZA EVER. If you love New York styled pizza, this is the place to go. The owner is so nice and funny everyone looks happy to work there. We have been ordering New York style pizza from Pizza Johny's for a couple of years. We have recommended this establishment to friends and family because the pizza here is normally amazing. Tonight we ordered pizza and it was all burned. We could not call them because they closed at 9pm on Thursday. I know that the ownership at Pizza Johny's would not let a pie leave the store burned. I only order pizza from here for years now. Today for the first time ever I received a pizza that I knew was not their quality. Oh my goodness! This was the best pizza I have had in my life! From the crust, to the sauce and toppings delicious. Johny, the owner was there and is always so helpful and attentive. My 4 year old wanted square pizza and he recommended the Grandma Pizza. My son loved it and ate all of it! Our family really enjoyed it! We will be back soon. read more

A great little spot best for takeout. Some of the best NY style pizza I've ever had. We met Johnny himself when we picked up our food and he was super nice. The pizzas are huge and they offer up to a 24in size! We liked it so much we ate there two nights in a row. read more

The pizza is decent although the sauce is bland and the dough is too dense for traditional NY style. The wings were worse but the carbonara pasta was good once I added some salt. Overall an okay experience although I doubt I'll be back read more

This place is awesome, Johnny himself attends to you and treats his customers and staff like family. Their chicken wings are AMAZING, and their NY style pizza is perfectly crusted and seasoned tomatoe sauce, cheesy and not too greasy. Seriously my favorite pizza spot in Miami. A must try. read more

You should read my previous review, but I mainly based my previous one on the quality of the single slice I had at the time, which was really good. Ordering a whole pie is *glorious*. The pastas are also all super fresh and I absolutely love his homemade meatballs. I am here constantly and my opinion of the place only gets better as I try more things on the menu. Walked into the place and thought I was in Brooklyn! From the Pizza guy tossing a large pie over his head to the yells of "Hello" and "How ya Doing" from all the employees, it felt great. Ordered the Meatball Parm Sub and a large Pepperoni Pie for the family, it was all great and the closest I've come in Miami to the real thing. Keep it up Pizza Johnny's! read more

This place is a small dine-in cozy NY feel pizza place mostly delivery and pickup. The menus has a variety of Italian items but the pizza and wings to me personally are awesome. The pizza is the closest I've tasted to a Broadway pie. Johny the owner is very happy go lucky guy, his staff is very, very welcoming and just by walking in through the door they bring a smile to your face. We order weekly for our Poker nights and I think I look forward to pizza Johny's more than poker night. Wish there were more owners like this guy.... kudos on a great product and experience. read more

Was in Kendall and decided to branch out from the usual spots I get pizza from in that area. Good old Yelp gave me some good feedback about this place so full steam ahead. As documented, Johnny greets you from the kitchen when you walk in and makes you feel quite welcome. The business is small with only two tables inside to eat so this soon became a to-go order. I ordered a half dozen Pepperolis, a half dozen Honey Garlic wings and and a large pie with sausage and onion. The Pepperolis were excellent, the pizza was OK. I was hoping for knock your socks off pizza but it barely peeled off a shoelace. I found the pizza to lack flavor and the toppings were scarce at best. The true MVP was the honey garlic wings; MADDON! The were some of the best wings I've had anywhere in the continental US. In closing, Johny is a great guy with a great little pizza joint. Some advice would be to use a saltier mozzarella or a two cheese blend to include Provolone or Fontina to give that pizza the extra little kick it definitely needs. read more

BEWARE! I decided to give this small business another chance after about two years ago when they "added" their own tip for my take out order. At that time, I called and complained and the Manager was very apologetic and said he would make it up to me. I did not revisit this restaurant until today.I called in my order of Hawaiian pizza and Cilantro Lime Grilled Chicken Salad. Well, I had paid my bill when I noticed that they added an additional $5.00 -2.50 per topping (ham & pineapple). When I questioned my bill the lady said their system does not resister "Hawaiian" pizza and has to charge for cheese pizza then add the toppings. I told her that was messed up and not noted in their website/menu. She then relayed my concern to some guy "Auggie" who told her to give me the $5.00 add-on from the tip jar. I felt bad for the lady, but we had already tipped her on my credit card. In addition, they forgot to add grilled onions to my salad.‍ I will not be revisiting them again... just imagine how many people they scam that never took at their itemized bill!!!! read more

So much I can say about this place, but I'll start with the owner. By far my favorite restaurant owner in S Florida. I go often for lunch and he greets EVERYONE that walks through that door with a smile. He always has small talk for me and is genuinely a really nice guy. My favorite thing is he takes pride in the food that leaves the kitchen. My order has tasted the same today as it did the first time I went there years ago and is always exactly as ordered/expected. He has a lifetime loyal customer in me! Oh....I guess I should say something about the pizza huh? Its fantastic! I personally love the wings and salad as well....but definitely grab a slice when you go there as well! read more

Ha-ha-ha ... Still laughing about my visit here to "Pizza Johny's" ... (yes, spelled with one "n.") Johny - the owner - is a real trip! Upon entering this pizza establishment, my boyfriend and I were warmly greeted by Johny himself in a tough Italian mobster New Yoooork accent ... "Hello! How you doin'?" ... ha-ha-ha! As we placed our order with the cute & cheerful cashier, we mentioned that it was our first time there. Then, on cue, Johny and the entire staff loudly chant "First timers!! First timers!!" and we received a round of applause! Ha-ha-ha!! We felt like celebrities ... so much personal attention! We ordered a medium sized pizza (6 slices) and ate it on the premises at one of their 4 small indoor tables. (They also have 4 small outdoor tables.) We chose 3 toppings: ricotta, meatball, and mushroom. Yum! The crust was scrumptious! It was like "dinner & a show" as we were constantly amused by the interactions between Johny and all the customers coming and going. The place got quite busy. Lots of regulars coming in to pick up their previously placed orders. A steady stream of deliveries going out the door, too. At one point, I heard Johny tell a customer to "get in the zone ... CAL-ZONE!" Haaa! Clever! There is a mafia job application form hanging on the wall, so, naturally, I jokingly asked Johny for a couple applications. I informed Johny that I, too, am from New York (but the opposite end of the state) and that my small hometown was full of Italians. Johny told me that he'd have his people call my people. Ha-ha! Needless to say, I was delighted with both the pizza and the service. 5 stars! Just want to warn you about the parking ... it is very challenging, to say the least! Pizza Johny's is located in a small yet very busy plaza along Sunset Drive where you'll find a daycare center, Latin restaurant, Chinese restaurant and more. Good Luck finding parking! read more

This place is literally walking distance from my job and its always packed with people at all times of day so i decided to walk in one day and saw they have a lunch special, two cheese pizzas and a soda for $5.99 so i gave it a try and it did not disappoint! Really really good, authentic, hand-made NY-Style Pizza. This is now my go to pizza place whenever i order pizza even at home. Not only is there pizza amazing but are their chicken wings and fries and pasta dishes, everything is literally homemade, all the sauces. Fair prices, nice serving sizes, good specials and quick service. read more

Beto, the owner, makes you feel like part of his extended family from the moment you step foot in the joint and all throughout your culinary adventure. I hadn't made reservations and he made sure to find me a table for one even though it was super busy at the time. He also recommended a few dishes but ultimately convinced me to try one of the chef's specials which I've been talking about till this day. His staff is also very attentive and diligent. Having said that let me break down what I ate with a nice chilled glass of wine: Antipasto: Burratina...Fresh homemade burrata mozzarella on top of thin slices of prosciutto, basil and extra-virgin olive oil. Served with roasted red peppers and tomatoes. All fresh and with high quality ingredients without a doubt. I wanted something light before the pasta and this was very filling so I couldn't finish it but... Entre: Chef's special...Pappardelle Patagonia. Green flat homemade noodle with vodka sauce, Italian sausage, pancetta, mushrooms and fresh herbs. This was one of the best pasta dishes I've had in my life. Perfectly cooked "al dente" with a creamy vodka sauce that'd have you wanting to lick the damn plate. That Italian sausage was also so divine and they don't skimp on portions or ingredients. I'm glad Beto suggested this one instead of the Pappardelle Italian sausage. Dolci: cheesecake. I have no idea how I still had a little bit of room for dessert after that feast but this cheesecake was all worth it. Not overly sweet and very rich and velvety. This is arguably one of the best Italian joints in town. Just delicious Italian comfort food made with love and excellent service to got with it. Beto offered an espresso to end this extraordinary meal. He takes the time to go to every table and make sure customers are taken care of and that's what makes the difference. Well i used to work here and im gonna tell you a little about this place and the workers... i started working here when i was 15 so 3 years ago, jhonny was a super cool boss but he didnt really show me much. He was unprofessional as he started getting closer to me ( remember im 15) he would call me his cheerleader and mention stuff about his wife and some chick he cheated on her with, anywho that was just super unprofessional on his part as a boss and me being a underage minor i would just laugh it off because it put me in a weird position especially since this was the only job that accepted me for my age. We also had 2 cooks. One was a pedophile and the other was the most meanest and insulting guy i ever met. He would call me fat and other names which as a child i could only help but believe some things were true. The pedophile one, i was told a story about him where he cant be close to any minors because he got in trouble with a minors parents because he was caught trying to do something with her. Keep in mind me and that minor worked in the ice cream shop next door to the pizza place... its both of jhonnys businesses just seperated as a gelatto place. So when i heard that man was cooking for people i just felt uncomfortable and even more when i heard the story of him going to the gelatto place to try something with the minor. I told my parents incase i ever get in a situation i would call and let them know to come because it was that bad. After a few more months i show up to a morning on saturday and jhonny asks me to come outside and hes holding a paper in his hand, he tells me that im fired because someone told him something about me and thats the reason why im getting fired. I know for a FAT fact that i wasnt doing anything wrong and i was just a child making her money and he presisted on not telling me the reason and so he gives me the paper with my last check and makes me wait outside ina hot summer day to wait for my parents to pick me up. WHATS WORSE ABOUT THIS WHOLE THING is that i was an amazing worker.. i would jump from the gelatto shop and the pizza place taking orders and boxing pizzas even tho my job was only to serve ice cream, i also tried handling social media and stocking supplies. Did too much for a company who cared too little. Also the grease they use to cook ur food in wouldnt get changed for days and would smell really bad sometimes. We would also have a few problems with health inspections everytime they would come and honestly jhonny isnt in the right head to do any of the things he should do, hes to busy making love and mentally messing people around him.As a past employer im GLAD this place is shut and i know the other minor from back then is too! We were both victims to grown mens insecurities. Anyways im 18 now and i always told jhonny that his karma was gonna come and hit him and he would erase all the comments and reviews.. hopefully this one can permanetly stay. Screw jhonnys, save ur money and eat real new york pizza. And i know most of you might think '' this girl is just butthurt from getting fired'' NO never that.. i believe things happen for a reason and yes like anyone would think.. it sucks gettiing fired but what sucks more is realizing your bosses are also human too! I have a career and been living my life happily! This is just to show the man behind the ''delicous pizzas'' . Idk about yall but a place shows quantity with the people who lead it and this is a prime example of not the right person and not the right place. My first time ordering from this place didn't go so smoothly. I ordered two extra large pizzas and requested that they'd be ready by 6:45 p.m. which was about two hours in advance. (I was coming from somewhere where I couldn't use my phone hence the pre-order) The girl on the phone asked if I wanted garlic rolls. Heck yeah. Only vampires and celiac disease sufferers wouldn't want garlic rolls. I ordered a Hawaiian and a half pepperoni/half cheese. I arrived at 6:45 sharp. The half and half pizza was fully pepperoni. Both pizzas were room temperature, which suggests they didn't listen to a thing I said about a future order. Lastly I asked about the garlic rolls. The girl said "no". No as in you're out? Or no you won't sell them to me? "No, you didn't order them" she said. Oh really...mmm that's odd... I must have imagined the whole conversation. Another girl was starting to see the slippery slope her co-worker was getting into and made some on the spot. As for the pizza, the crust had an off-putting after taste as if the dough was made in dirty dish water. The cheese and toppings were very good. 5 Star service and yummy goodness! As soon as you walk in you feel welcomed by everyone greeting you. The gentleman making the pizza was very attentive and checked up with me if the pizza was good. The pizza is insanely good! This pizza is as NY and Italian as it gets wow. Pizza is freshly made nice and hot. Also the cheese, sauce and crust is very good too. In my opinion...perfect! To top it off I noticed that they make pepperoni rolls which I believe they call it meat wheels. I haven't seen these in sooooo many years.
