We appreciate PM's fresh ingredients, take-out accessibility, Taft's proximity (across the street), and pleasant demeanor (even when busy). We're always happy to see some familiar faces in the back working both the dough and ovens. The pizza is thin crust, chewy and crunchy (ideal), and their Italian sausage is the crumbly/fennely kind we all love. Hey, we'd love a bit more sauce, but you can always order a side dunker. Hubby and I were in the area for tulip festival. This little gem was right down the street. We picked up to eat in our hotel. My husband only really likes thin crust and surprise surprise that's all they have there! But it's cooked on wood burning oven or at least that's what it seemed like. We love the pizza!!! My parents' have a cottage in Fennville and they order pizza weekly from PM and it is always a must while we visit them! They are currently only doing carry out to continue to protect their employees and customers from Covid. I wish more businesses were as conscious of the lingering Covid situation. We called in an order end it was a 50 minute wait. The pizzas were ready in 50 minutes exactly. We got a large sausage pizza and a medium sausage pizza with extra cheese. They were delicious!! The crust, cheese and toppings are all high quality but, for me it's the sauce that makes their pizza so special!! We decided to order a pizza and salad. The pizza is made from scratch right on the premises. Homemade dough balls in three different sizes. The crust was thin and perfectly baked to a slight crisp. The ingredients were fresh and sauce was seasoned perfectly! The salad had the freshest ingredients and vegetables with one of my favorites - pickled beets. The dressing was made fresh by the Owner David. It's the most delicious Greek dressing I've ever had! To conclude the meal, we had a slice of home made Key lime pie. If you've never been to Pizza Mambo, you're missing out. I've driven by so many times and never stopped. I should've been enjoying this awesome pizza long ago! We stopped in 40 minutes before closing, ordered a pizza to go and they were kind enough to invite us to eat the pizza inside where it was toasty warm. The owners and staff were very friendly. This is the best pizza in Douglas, maybe even Allegan County. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! We ordered the Greek Pizza and added mushrooms. It was outstanding. We also created out own pizza with pepperoni, sausage, onions and bacon. Pizza Mambo makes their own sauce and their own crust. Both were really really good and I think just made the pizza. To top it off, they have all fresh ingredients. Their sausage is sourced out of Chicago and was great! I can only imagine how delicious everything else is on the menu if they can make pizzas this terrific. I don't think I'll be coming to Douglas/Saugatuck without ordering from Pizza Mambo. We are new to the area and this was our first time trying Pizza Mambo. Unaware of the hours we came in just 10 minutes before closing- usually something we avoid. We were warmly welcomed by the owners David and Ken, who then proceeded to recommend favorite menu items. We order the Marg 2 and Greek pizzas. Both pies were handmade by David and delicious!! Toasty hot, full of toppings and packed with flavor. David brought the food to us personally. and kindly got to know us a bit. Indoor seating is limited to 8 seats but I recommend eating in the outdoor flower garden courtyard with umbrella tables. The space is beautiful, charming and slightly exotic.
