I rarely do reviews, but this is now my 2nd terrible experience with Pizza Man. We placed an order via GrubHub That had specific instructions on certain toppings, not being on half of the pizza. When we received our food, those toppings were on the pizza Despite the instructions that we put when we ordered and calling the restaurant to make sure it was clear. It even stated on the receipt to only put those toppings on half of the pizza. So why would we still receive it incorrectly??? I proceeded to call the restaurant, and try to explain what happened, The girl who answered the phone basically said it was my problem and that I needed to call GrubHub to resolve it. I told her that I wanted to speak to a manager, and she proceeded to hang up on me. I called back, and a guy answered the phone, and told me that she didn't hang up on me. I told him that I would like for a manager to call me back. About five minutes later, the manager called me back, And insisted that she made the pizza herself and that there were no olives on the pizza. After going back-and-forth for a few minutes, I gave the phone to my boyfriend, Because I felt that she clearly wasn't listening on what the issue was. My boyfriend got on the phone and also tried to explain to her, but she just would not hear it, and kept talking over him, And saying the same thing over and over again, that she made the pizza and it was made correctly. And if we had issues to contact GrubHub. She also stated that the girl that I previously spoke to didn't hang up on me, that rather I hung up on her. Wouldn't have just been better to try to resolve the situation so you could still get a repeat customer, instead of deflecting and putting the blame on the customer? There was absolutely no attempt to resolve the issue. I would say one of the worst customer service experiences that I have ever had. We were visiting Anoka and wanted a quick pizza bite, as usual. We stopped in here and while the ambiance gives off small town, run down, and antiquated- there is also the essence of charm, nostalgia, and tradition. Our food was really good and what stood out even more was the service. I believe our waiter was named Derek- he was just phenomenal and kind, found coloring books and crayons for our littlest and even offered a Halloween treat bag. Highly recommend! read more

Tried the large special pizza and it had a good crust. But not worth $30 (that's with pick up). The ambiance in the place was dark and gave an early 90's bar vibe. Staff were helpful and polite! A little hard to see the place from the street with minimal outside advertisement but there is a sign on the side of their building. They share an entryway with a tailor shop. read more

Pizza man is a great reliable establishment, especially for nearby pickup always ready in 20 mins. They have a lunch buffet during the week, however I haven't tried it yet. Pizzas are cooked in 1950's style oven so you get the classic pizza taste. A refreshing change from the big chains! read more

I have been here a few times in the evenings and it is a ok place to come. Price is not to bad and most the food is good. I would never come here for the lunch buffet, the server is vary rude and has a vary bad attitude. I went in for lunch and the sign say in the window that the lunch buffet goes until 2 pm. When I walked in at 130 they said they are taking down the pasta bar. I said ok I just want salad and pizza, there was four pieces of pizza out. I though ok I'll just wait for more. I ate the four and while I wait I was going to get a salad. Well by then it was also taken down, I asked if there was going to be another pizza put out and the server said nope. This was 145 by the way, atlest it isn't full price at 15 dollars. It was still 10 dollars which for getting 3 slices of pizza that is bad. After the rude service and not full filling the times it said it said it would be open I'll never waste my time here again. I would not recommend this place at all. Pizza Man is a super casual low-key place on Main Street with excellent pizza. We were a little confused when we first walked in the front door for lunch. We couldn't figure out if you're supposed to order at a table or order at the front register. Turns out you can do it either way. No big deal. Everything is chill at the Pizza Man! We weren't sure if it made more sense to get the lunch buffet or to just purchase pizza by the slice. The waitress was really busy so we decided to just start eating pizza and figure it all out later. Turns out, "by the slice" was cheaper because we didn't eat a ton of stuff. The waitress/bar tender was super nice. They also serve alcohol. It's nice enjoy a cold beer with your hot pizza. The Pizza Man is super patriotic. He displays a copy of the U.S. Constitution, a "we support our police" sign, american flags, etcetera. There were a couple tables of local police, paramedics, and fire fighters. I think this is pretty cool. I also knew that my wife and I were definitely at the safest place in Downtown Anoka! Placed an order over the phone and was told it would be about a hour, ok great! 2 hours later I decided to call giving them the benefit of the doubt that it may be busy. Spoke with the manager about my order because it wasn't there?! They then said if I still want it they can get it to me quickly, I said I would still like my order if I'm getting some sort of compensation, being I had waited 2 hours and somehow it's lost. they said yes they could "discount" it and get it out to me and suddenly he said he found my order but it was online and I never placed an order for delivery. I frustratingly said forget the order and hung up. He calls back within a few minutes and is apologetic and would get me my order free of charge, which I accepted. Took another 30 min to get delivered which is standard.... For a fresh pizza... THEY GAVE ME MY ORDER THAT HAD BEEN SITTING FOR OVER 3 HOURS AND ACT LIKE ITS OK!!!! So I hate to do this because this was always our go to for ordering pizza. A month ago we ordered and it was burnt and there was a sprinkle of cheese and it literally tasted bad, today i figured company coming over let's try one more time. I told them about the previous experience this time I ordered extra cheese thinking it'll be all gooey and goodness like they used to be. Well I'll let the picture speak for itself. Barely any cheese even when asked for more and it was on the receipt too. And the crust was all dry again...they have forever lost our business, especially when the kid I was speaking to said 'whatever'. I've never been so disappointed by an owners actions as I was that day. We have not been back since. I have let everyone know what type of treatment customers get when they go into address issues that take place when the owner isn't there. It's because the owner doesn't care about the people putting money into his register. Still not going back and advise others the same. Ordered for my first and last time. If I wanted watery flavorless Alfredo I would water down my previous Alfredo sauce. Given this would be the case. I asked for more Parmesan packets to find there was one packet assuming I would evenly distribute each parm grain individually amongst the water alfredo and "cheese" stick Which made the water Alfredo a decent dipping sauce. Called again now and they have no note of that conversation. The manager was not in the store for another two hours. Told them if this is not made whole they would lose a customer permanently - to which the gal replied hurriedly, "sounds good bye". I really enjoy visiting local places that is not a chain restaurant, and to feel like home. I mean from the time I walked in to when I left the server was really kind and mqde sure we were well fed before they took the food away. Of all the buffets I have had theirs was really good. Why a 1??? Well hmm my friends and I decided to order food from here. One person got a pizza, 2 people got wings and I ordered the meatball dip. I was in the room along with others when the order was made ...wait allotted time for delivery and guess what my food didn't even get put on the order ...called and they said that they would charge us for the cheese bread and give the meatballs for free. Wait again 1hr it is now 11pm at night, I was hungry and tired. Get the food, the cheese bread is hot yes but the crust took 30 chews to swallow very stiff thick dough and the cheese was hard as well. Unfortunately I have only bad things to say. My pizza had 3 toppings. Which were hardly visible when we opened the box. The pizza itself was so soggy. We couldn't even pick it up. Also it had clearly fallen after being made,as all the cheese was stuck to the side of the box and all had slid to that side. Would not get this again. Really gross and disturbing if you had seen it. This place was recently renovated and it's become one of our favorites. The food is good, the portions are more than adequate, the servers are friendly and attentive, and now they even serve beer and wine! Weekend nights in Anoka are kind of a crowded nightmare if you're trying to get dinner somewhere, but this Pizza Man is still relatively undiscovered so there's no 40-minute wait. Score! read more

Placed online order at 6:18pm. Given delivery time of 7:03pm. By 7:40pm when order had not arrived, I called. Was told by the employee that answered the phone that the order was out for delivery but he had no way to contact the driver (they don't have cell phones?!). Employee asks what he can do, I tell him give me a discount as it's been 30 minutes past quoted delivery time. He said he'd have to talk to manager. Manager comes on, apologizes & says the delay is not typical, and offers a refund. I accept, she says it will take 2 weeks to process. I (erroneously) assumed our order would still be delivered - especially since it was "out for delivery" but "there was no way to contact the driver" to divert it. 8pm, no delivery. I called back to see if it was still coming or if I needed to find other food for our (late, now) dinner. Employee who answered the phone is the same guy who answered on previous call. Said "its still out for delivery". I asked how it's taken at least 20 minutes of delivery time (since we last spoke when he said it was out for delivery the first time), and he put me on hold. Manager comes on and asks "what's the problem?" I said I was trying to find out if our food was still on the way or if I needed to figure out something else to eat. She said "normally when people want refunds, we assume they don't want the food. Are you saying you want the food? I have your order right here and can send it out." So I said "you mean it's NOT out for delivery?" She said "no". I asked why her employee told me - twice now - that it was out for delivery. She said she didn't know, but did I want the food? I said, "you mean the food that's been sitting there for an hour, NOT being delivered? No thanks." Seriously? What crappy customer service.
