Husband ordered over the phone for pickup. Drove 20 min into downtown bend. The lady at the register, who took her sweet time to fill up her water bottle before helping a line of customers, says they don't take Amex because "it doesn't go through in our system." When handed a visa she tried to type the numbers so fast that the card apparently wouldn't go through. Didn't try to double check the numbers, just sent my husband away with no food! The pizza is great and the staff is ok but one of the counter workers has a bad attitude and their policies on to go containers needs a little work. I have twice dined in and ordered a whole pizza and both times had food leftover. Last time we went I asked for a to go box and the girl at the counter asked how many slices I had left in which I replied 3. She then said, "I'm going to give you plates with foil cause our boxes are too big for 3 slices of pizza." I told her "I also have garlic knots." She reluctantly brought me a box and she didn't look at me and made me feel bad for asking. I figured, if I ordered a pizza to go or for delivery I would get a box anyway so what's the big deal. I preferred a box because I was walking around downtown and didn't want to carry multiple plates with me everywhere. BTW, not only did my food use up the whole box, the slices were also stacked on top of each other. I understand a business can operate however they choose but it's probably a good idea to relay your policies in a tactful way. We were tired from our long drive and the go to pizza place we always go to closes at 7p on a Sunday. I found this place on Yelp and since it was a mile away decided to give it a try. Located in the cute old town downtown area. When we walked in we noticed the place was crowded and a little small. There was 1 booth available. You order at the counter. The person at the counter was very nice. There was an option to purchase pizza by the slice or a whole. I asked how long a whole pizza took to cook and she said 20 minutes. Looking behind the counter there was a ton of people working back there including someone on the floor doing some sort of fixing or construction, not sure. Since we were tired, we decided by the slice would be best and quick. The pizza took a minute to reheat. Not as hot as I liked but still good. My daughter liked her cheese slice. We also got a brownie which was amazing. The place was pretty loud since the tables and booths are close together. Unfortunately we sat at the booth closes to the door and cold air would blow in everytime the door opened. Still all in all a solid 4 stars. read more

I was visiting and staying with family in Bend, didn't have a car and ordered delivery. The Bella Luna was a pizza I had tried on a previous visit and liked the potatoes, rosemary and garlic. I ordered it again and on receiving with delivery, I took the first bite of pizza and there was zero flavor except oil. There should have been garlic and seasonings added for, you know, flavor. I tried a couple more bites, but nope, no visible signs or taste of rosemary or garlic or anything. Just blah and oil. It was a plain potato, oil, bread pizza. I asked a family member to taste a bite to see if my taste was off. (I had ordered the pizza for myself.) Nope, she couldn't taste anything either. Now, if I was in a restaurant, I would politely tell my server something was wrong with the food and ask for something else or for the pizza to be re-cooked with the garlic and rosemary on it and whatever other seasonings - maybe salt - should have been on there. No big deal. Being a delivery, I still expected the same professional courtesy, given I hadn't even eaten a half piece of pizza, paid $22 plus tip. And that's where expectations veered far, far from rude reality. I called the restaurant, told the woman who answered exactly what happened, that I ate three bites and the pizza had no taste. Her response: "I don't know how that's possible." At that point I took a deep breath and explained the above, again, until I was blue in the face. She continued to say my claims could not be true. I simply asked to exchange the pizza for a different one and she said that would not be happening; if I wanted another pizza, I could pay another $22. I asked to speak with a manager, and the employee said she was on management level and refused to let me speak with another employee. I've never been treated in such an inflammatory, rude and belittling way. I really can't believe this is how management choose to run this business. I have to say it hurts my heart to have to give Pizza Mondo a 3 star review. We were having a perfectly delightful dinner with very good pizza. I had intended to order the pork-a-palooza but ordered the kingpin instead. We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed eating that and the Rita. Both were great! Then we ended up with more pizza than we could eat so I asked for a box. I was specifically asking for a box because we were going to be walking around downtown Bend for a while. They proceeded to tell me they could wrap it on a paper plate with tinfoil. I asked for a box as it was two large pieces of pizza. I was eyeing their salad container which looked perfectly sized to stack 2 pieces of pizza as well and they argued that it was too small and the small boxes were too big. I then said can I just get a box. One of the two ladies at the counter said Yes I'll get a box. I was pleased that she was finally accommodating my request. They are a pizza place after all that sells their to go pizzas in boxes. The reason for my down grade was because as she was walking back to me with my box she proclaimed, "this just hearts my heart!" I am not sure why a box hurts her heart but paper plates and tinfoil don't. She really left us with a sour experience after what was otherwise a great pizza! At long last, and after many visits to pizza joints in Bend, I think I may have found one of the best and the locals favorite! I stopped in here famished after a day of holiday shopping. I was hangry, tired, and overwhelmed by their full menu - but so very pleased to see they had slices that looked delicious. I ordered a slice of the pork and pineapple pizza and a beer. The helpful cashier informed me that it would be cheaper to order TWO slices and the beer, which would come to a meager $7.50! Seriously, who can turn that down? I got an additional veggie slice, waited a moment as they reheated the slices, and sidled up to the bar to cure my holiday blues. The pizza is deliciously close to New York pizza pie perfection. Thin, crispy crust that you can fold in half, just the right amount of toppings, and surprisingly easy to consume two giant slices in one sitting. Mondo is definitely a tiny space, and I enjoyed seeing the variety of patrons: from families to the elderly couple sharing a slice and writing out the addresses on the Christmas cards to their grandkids. I will definitely be back to sample more of Pizza Mondo's offerings, and glad I finally found an inexpensive delicious pizza option in Bend. read more

We'll give them another try but our first experience was not great. I would definitely not recommend delivery. We ordered our pizza at 5:45 and at 7:45 we still didn't have it. Turns out it was delivered to the wrong address. After calling, the delivery kid went and took it back from the wrong address and brought it to our house. It was ice cold and most importantly, had been at someone else's house!! At a restaurant, you can't put down a plate at the wrong table and then go take it back, but apparently not the same rules for pizza! To the manager's credit, he did refund our money but it sucks to wait that long and still not get to eat it 2 1/2 hours later. Love this tiny pizza joint in downtown Bend. The location is fun too. Kids like playing at the park and walking along the river. Lots of cute shops nearby too if that thing is for you. Back to the pizza...huge slices. Huge! My 5 year old liked his cheese slice, 6 year old devoured her pepperoni and asked for another slice (we obliged but she ate only 1/2 of 2nd slice...but don't worry, no pizza was wasted. My beau and I walked in here to get a bite to eat and he wanted pizza and I wanted salad. They had a Rita pizza that I decided to try. It was okay, it wasn't anything special as far as pizza goes but it wasn't too bad. I wasn't very happy with my salad however, it seemed like the salad was wilted and old, so I didn't really enjoy that either.
