I remember not liking it, and making a mental note to NEVER order from there again. But tonight I decided to give them a second chance. Their location is so convenient. I thought, maybe it'll be good. Maybe it's improved over the years. IT HAS NOT! The pizza I ordered for pickup was SOGGY--because the jalapeño peppers came from a JAR, and were not fresh! Jarred jalapeños are VERY WET, and should NEVER be used on pizza!!! They will make it soggy every time. Any decent restaurant would know this and would use FRESH jalapeños on their pizza! Fresh jalapeño peppers also taste so much better--with the added benefit of NOT making your pizza SOGGY and DISGUSTING! It was difficult to even pick up a slice of the pizza because it was so wet that the sauce, cheese, and jalapeños were all sliding off!!! In addition to the disappointment of ingredients from a jar, the pizza itself had a BAD FLAVOR, and tasted smoky and burned--like it had baked in the same oven with something else that had burned, but hadn't been cleaned up, causing it to absorb the burned taste. I often believe in giving restaurants a second chance, but I definitely REGRET ordering from Merlino's tonight. I will drive a little farther next time and get my pizza from Pasquale's or Bishop's. Both places have excellent pizza. What was I thinking ordering from Merlino's tonight? NEVER AGAIN!

Recently, the son of the original owner, bought the Italian Village Pizza on Brownsville Rd in Carrick/Brentwood. We have been extremely happy. The quality of the food has increased greatly. We normally get it delivered and order at least 2x per month. We love John who normally delivers on Saturdays. We did stop in to the pizza shop one day and it's not changed since we have been going to this location. They have booths to eat at, it's clean, and the staff are friendly. The offer specials when you go to the restaurant. The menu is extensive, our favorites/regulars are the fried zucchini, pizza, hoagies and calzones. You can't go wrong with any of those choices.

Instead of the normal diced ham, the pizza was covered with huge chunks of what appeared to be scraps, ends, and big, tough rind-like pieces. I couldn't find a single good piece of ham on the entire pizza. Although we had paid for delivery, they said I'd have to return the food myself, so I drove both items back to the restaurant. The guy there, maybe the manager, asked if I had returned the two 20 oz. Cokes. I said no, so he charged us for those, plus the delivery fee and tip, and refunded only the food I returned. So we still paid $11.50 and ended up with no dinner. I agreed to leave the driver's tip because none of this was the driver's fault, but I was surprised the restaurant didn't simply refund the entire order and apologize. Had they done that, we probably would have given them another chance. Instead, there was no apology and no apparent concern about losing longtime customers. This came just a couple of weeks after a plain cheese pizza arrived looking like it had been dropped or tipped on its side, with much of the cheese slid across and piled up on one side of the pizza. We drive out from Monroeville just to grab their pies. Located in Squirrel Hill, parking can be a bit of a challenge, but there is a pay-to-park lot across the street tucked behind the businesses. Also, with old school class, Mineo's is cash only. They do have an ATM right in the store - in case you forgot. Dynasty loading - as they now have 4 shops including one directly in the Pittsburgh Airport (check their updated box logos with an airplane flying around!) All day. All year. The crust was over floured and lifeless, the cheese was missing the signature flavor pack of herbs, and the toppings were very clumped together under the cheese... but even these nitpicks- this place is a must go to! We ordered three large (and yes, that's a large large) pizzas - mushroom, extra cheese, and pepperoni. They are renowned for their thick layer of cheese with the toppings buried beneath. And this time, all of the pieces were well cut - which is rare. Service was quick.
