The is a Pizza Buffet or order your pizza place. I went here because I saw a post that gave 5 starts writhing 30 minutes of my view of the review. I drove over and decided to give it a try. While the pizza flavors were decent the pizza wasn't super fresh. It wasn't very busy so that explains why there was not continuous pizza flowing. The chicken was hot and at first glance looked a tiny bit over fried however, when I bit into it I loved the crispy outside and the taste. The inside was moist and while it's certainly different than KFC or Popeyes, it was pretty delicious. It is an older building so don't expect bright new and shiny. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. Definitely a small town feel. 4 stars because I went in and rated it as a buffet. read more

We went for dinner at 5 and no one else was there so we drove around as we were from out of town. We ended up back there as always have had good experiences with this restaurant. This was convenient to where we are staying so we thought we would try it. The service team were all really nice and they hustled. However, we are talking people with kids at a buffet. So had to wait for a table to be cleared, then had to wait for salad bar to be refreshed. The buffet offers a lot, and I especially appreciated that they ask you if there is something special they can make sure is on the buffet. Lots of variety in pizzas. Besides the classics, they offer cheeseburger pizza, Texas style, chicken BBQ. Sweet swine is what they call their Canadian bacon and pineapple. And the pizza was okay. Not great, but it will do in a pinch. The fried chicken was good, and they had all the fixings. You won't go hungry. You can just opt to order a pizza and skip the buffet. read more

Let me start by saying, my family lives Pizza Ranch! We have dined at several different locations in ND, SD, and MN. This one ranks with some of the lower ones. The layout of the place was weird and impersonal. The tables were that "sticky dirty" dirty that makes me cringe. Other locations have a much larger selection of food--this one was pretty basic as far as it went. The service, at least, was attentive--all dirty dishes were continually removed. This place was so disappointing. The potatoes were almost empty and completely dried but were never replaced. The place was dirty. At least 25 more people came in the 30 minutes we were there but they still did not replace any food Or the potatoes. We just moved into town, and I have to say that this is by far one of the coolest places that I've seen and we're from South Florida. We had only dined in a couple times for the buffet. It was ok...nice variety...typical buffet. Tonight, I ordered carryout. We opted for cheeseburger pizza and hot wings. Our pizza was incredible...much better than pizza at the buffet. The hot wings (sauce on the side) were even more amazing. I came in during lunch, around 11:30. The people who greeted us at the front were very friendly and took our order quick. When we went through the buffet, the pizza looked fresh and there was plenty to choose from. The chicken was full along with everything else on the buffet. When we sat down to eat our food, we overheard what sounds like the owner yelling at his staff. It was very distracting and not really something I want to listen to while eating. When we went up for more food after the situation, we looked at employees who were happier when we came in, that looked just pissed and upset. Personally, I have never owned a restaurant, but I know that there are better ways to communicate with your staff. I'm leaving a three star review because the staff were amazing and the food was delicious, but the owner needs to work on communication. I understand the stress, but don't take it out on your staff. we are regular customers on Sundays along with a large group and we are always welcomed with big smiles. We can sit at length visiting and enjoying their delicious food especially the chicken! The owner and his wife often times comes around to chat. An employee by the name of Donna is very pleasant, helpful and remains busy all of the time. We were passing through town on our road trip and thought we'd check it out. I was a little worried because there weren't a lot of cars in the parking lot and the reviews were a mixed bag, but it was alright! especially for a buffet! Was it incredible? No. It's Pizza Ranch. It's a buffet. Im not sure why people are complaining in the reviews about the service because it's a BUFFET. Buffet style and also take-out. This is located near a hotel by the freeway and a gas station with a strip mall. I think they do good business. I really like the dessert pizza and the buffalo chicken pizza. They also offered corn and green beans which was a nice addition. $9/person, seat yourself, the staff is pretty funny/sarcastic too. My father and I decided to eat here on 1 June around 7pm, when we decided to stop for the night. The pizza was delish. But being surrounded by dirty tables kinda took that down a notch. We waited for a booth table, then decided to take one that just had two half filled drinks and my dad wiped the table down with napkins. We felt like they needed supervision because being a buffet place and in general, it was unacceptable. It was also nice that they asked what our favourite pizza was and made it to put on the buffet. Went to Spearfish Pizza Ranch tonight (12/2/19) at 6pm for the buffet. The buffet was nearly empty, and what was there, had obviously been for some time; dried out pizza, dried out marinara sauce, three of the pizza pans were empty. Went over to the chicken side; very few pieces of chicken, dried out mashed potatoes, no gravy. Picked a few things that looked somewhat edible, thinking with the number of people in there, that fresh items would be forthcoming. Not so much. One new pepperoni pizza came out 40 minutes later, which by this time, there were five empty pizza pans, still no gravy, no cactus bread, no fresh marinara. Numerous dirty tables. At one point a gal came out and removed some dishes, but none were wiped down. Saw one table of customers trying to clean off a booth table with napkins so they could sit there. At 7:10, a pan of cactus bread finally came out, still no gravy. We finally gave up and decided to leave around 7:30. Most of the people had already left and not too happily, and as we were leaving, they were just then finally putting out pizzas..... a half hour before the buffet ended. We eat there frequently, and have to say this was our worst ever dining experience with Pizza Ranch of Spearfish. What a waste of money! read more

Very friendly staff. They were alittle lacking on what was available on the buffet when we walked in which was disappointing. But we were asked for requests and before we knew it pizzas were rolling out. They brought our request by our table before putting it on the buffet which was really nice. I thought the fried chicken was above average. The pizza itself was of average quality, though the Tuscan roma pizza was a pleasant surprise. Still you don't come to a buffet for artisan pizza. The dirtiest place we have ever been. ONE employee tried to be pleasant and clean. He was the rarity. When we arrived, we thought a child had spilled a drink. It sat in a large puddle under the seat and table, and continued to be tracked throughout our visit, including as new customers sat there. Tables and counters were sticky. Foods were cross-contaminated. The scariest part was seeing no one, employees, manager, or customers, care. Apparently, filth is the norm. The pizza choices are meat or meat. Worst Pizza Ranch experience ever. The reason for going to a buffet is to get a variety of food. We were lucky to even get one kind of pizza. When they finally did get a pizza out it was always pepperoni. The salad bar lacked lettuce for 90% of the time we were there. I won't even waste your time describing the condition of the fried chicken. We spent more time sitting and waiting for food then we actually did eating it. We were visiting Black Hills area and were staying in a hotel across the freeway. Hungry and tired after a day long excursion in the area, we wanted to eat something convenient and not too far from our hotel. Just walked in 10 minutes before their closing time on Easter Sunday. The manager, Ted was very welcoming. Though they had started wrapping up for the day, Ted came to us and asked for what all kinds of Pizzas we wanted eat and baked them for us. Our first visit to this chain and we were Greeted with dirty tables. The salad bar was decent although not extensive by any means. The chicken buffet was pretty much empty. No gravy for over 30 minutes with multiple people asking. Green beans were literally dumped out of a can and heated - NO seasoning at all. Corn was also just about empty.
