I would have picked a different place, as we had plenty of burgers and sandwiches on our trip. I would suggest adding the schnitzel options to the lunch menu, it will make a huge difference to the folks actually coming in for German options. We tried one of the sausage dishes and a sandwich, both were good. The sausage was definitely lovingly burned and forgotten on one side, but once that was cut off, the rest was good and the slaw sweet and tangy. Service is very attentive though (Mike) and the restaurant is super funky. Parking could be an issue in the evening, the lot is super tight. Plus be aware, there is a fee added for credit card use.

My wife has gluten and dairy allergies, while I manage Alpha Gal syndrome, a tree nut allergy, and diabetes. The kitchen was able to accommodate the gluten free pasta request, which we appreciated. The atmosphere is one of the restaurant's biggest strengths. The historic building and the old photographs covering the walls make for a fun dining experience and really add to the character of the place. Service was just okay. Nothing was wrong, but it also wasn't particularly memorable. One thing worth knowing before you go: the restaurant adds a 4% surcharge for credit card payments, so if you'd rather avoid the extra fee, bring cash. Overall, we will probably pick something else a try if we return to Deadwood. Worth it if you are heading there just for the historic atmosphere. A simple charcuterie plate intended to be shared barely make it halfway around our table and was not replenished. We were offered wine or beer (included) and given a choice of 3 entrees. The Missus and I ordered the honey pepper salmon. The entrées tasted okay, except that everything arrived lukewarm and the portions were stingy. Dunno where the cheesecake came from, but good ole Sara Lee tastes better.
