The waitress was great and doing the best she could with what looked like very little help, so no complaints there. But there were only about six tables occupied, and somehow everyone got seated in the same room shoulder to shoulder. Between screaming kids and teenagers trying to out volume each other, it felt less like lunch and more like a middle school cafeteria reunion. Very busy restaurant in Spearfish South Dakota. I'm pretty sure its the only Mexican eatery in this part of town. I've lived in Guadalajara and this is not authentic to the country of Mexico. But it was decent for where its located. Dined with my cousins and sister for my cousins birthday. The homemade salsa and chips were super tasty. I ordered the chicken taquitos with rice and beans. Ill say the beans were the best. Rice undercooked and taquitos kind of burned. Service was great for such a busy establishment on a Friday night. We all had a great time. To be honest, they have good food, but I don't know that it's the best I've tried and the best quality. But... I can give a 5 star on their price and the amount of food they give on a plate. First of all when you arrive, they give you a big dish of nachos and various salsas to dip. When the nachos come out hot, it's delicious. It's quite addicting too - I ate so much of it that they offered us another serving of it. My friends and I decided to share family-style. We ordered 1 Puerto Vellarta Platter and 1 Fajita Supremas. Let me tell you, the portions are huge for both of them! We used the ingredients to make ourselves tacos with the corn tortilla they gave us on the side. It was good and super filling. It's a good balance of veggie/carb/protein. We all had our fair share of the platters and we were all super full by the end. Overall, the service is great. The store is well decorated. The portions are large. The prices are fair. So, I would recommend this restaurant if you are super hungry, craving Mexican food or just want to try a new spot in town. read more

This is my uncles favorite Mexican restaurant so when I was in town recently, I knew we had to try it out. The staff was so nice and welcoming and we had a big table to spread out on. They brought out chips and a few different dips to enjoy and I definitely had my fair share of those. The main portions were large and flavorful, I couldn't even finish my plate but it was delicious! My wife ordered Combo #9. We are from Colorado so good green chile would be hard to find this far north. But it was good. Not nearly enough heat in the green chile but it was very tasty. The decor is your typical Mexican restaurant. My wife had a margarita and thought it was very good and well made. I would not hesitate to go here again. We were a bit disappointed with the tostada...like it was just thrown together and not with a lot of ingredients. I know it was a lunch menu, but really a small tostada for the $8.99. The chili relleno was pretty good. Sometimes, ordering off the "quick" lunch menu in such restaurants you get a lesser meal, so just beware. Sorry guys. I love mom and pop restaurants and always try to stick to those when I travel, but this was not authentic Mexican food! Chile relleno is a fire roasted Anaheim or poblano pepper stuffed with cheese and then dipped in egg whites whipped to an almost merengue and then browned. It is then topped with ranchero sauce. It is then served with tortillas. I have eaten Chile rellenos at literally hundreds of Mexican restaurants, as it is my favorite dish and I travel for work. I also live in Texas so I know Mexican food. It has NEVER been like an enchilada! To me, that was just a cop out because it made it easy and most people don't know that it is not correct. Not at all satisified on Friday around 4:45 PM. Chairs at the table had food debris on them. One glass had sticky substance on outer glass. Service was slow to take our drink and food order. Waitress took orders at 2 -3 tables at once and did not write down orders. Came back to ask us about one item. Write down the orders! Food was deleivered without our drink order (one tea and one beer). I guess waitress forgot that part? Different person delivering the food went to get our drink order. The chips were good, but the top half was complete chips and bottom half small pieces of chips - too small to even dip. The 2 salsas were good. The plates were very hot (a good thing), but the beans only luke warm. The rice seemed over cooked and a bit crunchy. The Veggie enchiladas were prettry bad. Huge pieces of brocoli and cauliflower, and a few slices of carrots. Soggy tortilla wrapped around with some stringy chesse inside. Worst enchiladas I have ever had. Wifes spinach enchiladas were acceptable - neither great nor bad. The waitess never came back to check on us, and brought the check after we pushed our plates aside (ate about half). Never asked us how the meal was. I normally tip 20%. I tipped about 13% here as service was not good. One and done for us. read more

We are from Southern California originally, so very snobby about Mexican food. This place is so good we ate there both nights we were in town. From the first taste of both the house salsa and hot salsa, we were optimistic. Shredded beef "picadillo" tacos outshined my cheese enchilada, so I had a combo plate of them on our second night.
