Finally got the chance to go back to my favorite pizza place & was completely disappointed. Have been going to Tony's place since I lived in San Francisco & have never had a complaint. Tonight was completely different, we went in to sit in the dining room & were told it was going to be an hour for a table, so decided to order to go & take home. First of all, I noticed that the prices have increased, ok....I get it. But then to get home & have a smaller pizza with less product on it? Completely disappointed. There was more crust than anything else! I just paid $22 for bread. Will maybe give them another try, but doubtful. So sad that I may have to find a new favorite place for pizza. read more

The pizza is so good. We usually get the New Yorker or tomato pie with pepperoni. We had placed a to go order about three weeks ago that wasn't baked to our liking and so we had called in - told by a male manager they'd take care of it form of a gift card on our next visit. On our next visit, the girl helping us looked like we had four heads and insisted she had no documentation of the situation. We paid for the pizza but it was more so the point. We're locals, we frequent and I was a little frustrated. Decent happy hour menu. On Wine Wednesday's you can get bottles for 1/2 price. Staff is ok. We had a very sweet waitress. When the hostess sat us she didn't explain the menu which is made from an album cover and the happy hour menu is hidden in the pocket. Food is good. After going to the downtown Pizza Rock over a dozen times, I finally made it to the Henderson location. As usual, Pizza Rock was outstanding. The margherita pizza was excellent, but so was the Italian chop salad, and the mud pie for dessert was outstanding. Overall just a Fun Spot whether you are hanging out with kids and family or going out for a girls or guys night out. I have always been a fan of Pizza Rock, their pizza is always on point, but the prices have really gotten out of control. I understand inflation is skyrocketing, and the pandemic took a heavy toll on many businesses, but paying $14.50 for the fried 'green' tomato caprese salad was absolutely ridiculous. It doesn't come close to qualifying as a salad, in my opinion, because it was no more tham four bites of food. It was three thin slices of mozzarella, about the size of a silver dollar, four fried tomato slices, about the same size, and four sweety drop peppers, drizzled with balsamic. The quality of the ingredients is good, but if I'm up for paying strip pricing, then I'll go to some fancy pants strip restaurant, not a pizza joint at a locals casino. read more

Don't get me wrong--I usually LOVE Pizza Rock. However, I had never been to the Henderson location before this evening (actually 4:00, so it's not like it was crowded) and while the food was as good as downtown's, my service was AWFUL. I was the 8th to arrive of a group of 10, and it would have been difficult to mistake me for one of the people who had already ordered, as we had to pull up another table for the 3 of us. The waiter came and took drink orders for the last couple but ignored me, even when I tried to make eye contact. He returned with their drinks and still ignored me. It's true, I was only going to ask for water, which he later told me is only served upon request, but he had no idea if I wanted water or a whole pitcher of beer. Then he returned to take their order, once again ignoring me, and no, I wasn't still looking at the menu. When someone, possibly not the waiter, returned again with drinks and/or food and was leaving, the person next to me asked for some water for me. It was brought, but no query about a food order. When the waiter returned and again ignored me, I got up and confronted him. (Up to this time I had said or done nothing to warrant his dismissive attitude.). Instead of apologizing and owning his errors, he made the above-mentioned excuse that they don't bring water unless asked. Completely irrelevant. My order was taken and I received my personal pizza and we all enjoyed our dinner. However some people naturally finished before the last 5 of us but no one was in a rush. Nevertheless, a young lady came to bus the table and took my plate away while I was still holding my last wedge of pizza, although she left some other used plates remaining. This is totally unacceptable. How did she know whether or not I wanted to return my pizza to it's now non-existent plate? Others were still eating as well and there was no need to rush us. So my 3 stars is 5 for food, ONE for service, for all 3 of the people that were assigned to our table, and one instead of none, only because I think it was a manager who did bring me my pizza, apologized and said he discounted the bill some. As for the last part, because I was not paying, I don't know how much was taken off. So go for the pizza, but don't expect great service. read more

Typically the food and service is great and normally deserve 5 stars but we are here today 3/31/21 for lunch and ordered a classic pepperoni and a salad the pizza was supposed to be $18.50 . When we got the bill the total for the pizza was 20 plus $3 for the pepperoni it was charged as a mozzarella pizza add pepperoni. When we asked about the cost the server got really snotty saying we ordered the large and that the menu said in small print that the pepperoni was $3.00 extra. By far, the worst pizza I've ever had. It was so bad, I wished it was cardboard because cardboard would have treated so much better. The Old Chicago Pizza tasted like it was from an old Chicago sewer. The crust was burnt (see picture), the seasoning was bitter, the sauce was almost non-existent, it was dry, and it was just plain nasty. I tried this restaurant after reading an article citing the best pizza places in the country. Pizza Rock was the only winner in Las Vegas and ranked 5 in the nation. We ate here last night right after a concert. I saw some reviews leading me to believe it's worth trying. We ordered a Sausage and mushroom pizza. Yeh they took pizza to "a new level" alright. As a born/raised Detroiter we were excited to try their "Red Top" Pizza! ...curious why not just called it "Detroit-Style"??? At least they do say it in the menu description, so they are claiming it as "authentic". So, as we looked over the menu I noticed they added white cheddar cheese on top of the Wisconsin Brick....hmmm, ok so the chef is trying to add his own twist...ok. Firstly, let me add a little context...I was raised on the original Buddy's, Shield's, Cloverleaf, and yes...Little Caesars (ugh...haha) so I know what Detroit-style tastes like. Unfortunately, Pizza Rock's Red Top ain't Detroit-style...the sauce was bland, the edges were overly burnt, dough not airy, and way too sharp cheddar taste. The middle of the pizza was fine...but as anyone knows, the bottom and edges are the best parts. It was a "B-/C" at best. The decor and atmosphere was ok, GVR location, and the waitstaff was just ok....a little bit of the Vegas Strip attitude, and not very responsive...but ok, not enough to ruin experience. The funny part was we've given this place a couple of chances and gone their before our movies. Every time we've been their was another couple next to us from Detroit/Michigan! As my date and I discussed the pizza the next table would always chime in also. It was fun to chat about Detroit, but we'd always agree it was not Detroit-Style Pizza. We even tried to ask the waiter to have them make it without the white cheddar. We had a reservation for 5 people on a Saturday night, so we got seated pretty fast. We got the meatballs, cal Italia, and the New Yorker for the five of us to share. They have all different types of pizza to choose from. It was the perfect amount of food with us, and we had a great time watching football there. It's located in the green valley ranch casino, so you can go play afterwards. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good pizza. read more

It was okay. I found the pizza a little flavorless. I got a gluten free pizza and the crust was chewy and not great. I threw most of it away as I didn't even want to eat the leftovers. The others got a cracker crust pizza (which they enjoyed) and another pizza but I can't remember what kind of crust it was (New York style?). They didn't like that one very much. The sauce seems a little flavorless. And they put oregano on all of the pizzas but it didn't seem to add much to them. They weren't very cheesy either. Service took forever to even get our order taken. Pizzas took a while too. We were in a little bit of a hurry as we were headed to the strip for a show. We made it just fine but were starting to get worried. If you are in the casino and want pizza, eat here. It is fine. But it is nowhere near the best pizza we have ever had. Delicious pizza! Ordered the cheese sicilian and it was a lot like what I used to have back home in NY, but the slices were a lot smaller. The thick crust was crunchy and satisfying. The pizza selection is just overwhelming... there's too much decision making involved. Everyone likes choices but I'd rather not have to choose. Do one thing and do it well, IMO. Grimaldi's and their thin crust in the Brick Oven; Settebello and their straight up Italian style pizza; etc. What I love about pizza is that every place I go makes it an entirely different meal, but I want it to be a no brainer. There's a learning curve involved here and the prices are too steep to order a little of everything. Great location in the non-smoking part of Green Valley Ranch. Very cool environment that's dark and casual. Service was OK. But we order meatballs and they never came. We're drawn in now so we'll be back to taste some of the other styles. read more

I think my hubby may have hyped this place up way too much & you know what happens when someone does that! He's been frequenting the downtown location since he works close by & has been telling me for months how amazing it is. He said the meatballs rival those of one of our fav hometown restaurants, Westlake Joes in Daly City, CA. Eh, seriously hon?? I thought maybe just the quality/consistency was different between the 2 locations but no, he said they tasted the same as the downtown location. They were alright but def nothing even close to Westlake Joe's. I'm surprised he thought they were similar. The sauce tasted like warmed canned crushed tomatoes, too acidic for a sauce & you could tell the meatballs hadn't been simmered in it which is key to making great meatballs, imo. Not much depth of flavor at all & although the meatball was tasty, it was a little too "meatloaf" in consistency for me. In addition to the meatballs, we also ordered the truffle fries, calamari (1/2 spicy 1/2 regular) & the Margherita pizza. The truffle fries were the best part of the whole meal. You could really taste the truffle oil. We had to ask for salt bc they were under-seasoned but they were still really good. The calamari was just ok. They only serve it with a marinara sauce for the regular & a spicy aioli for the spicy. No cocktail sauce. What kind of restaurant serves calamari but doesn't offer cocktail sauce as an accompaniment?! Being from SF, the only way calamari is served is with cocktail sauce. You usually have to request marinara if that's what you prefer. Now for the pizza. What a huge disappointment. I was really expecting some amazing wood fired pizza based on my husbands glowing reviews. The entire bottom of the pizza was soggy. I couldn't believe this was what they were calling wood fired pizza. They cook it at 900° for godsake! There should be no sogginess whatsoever. I could tell the ingredients that they used were good quality but it's just so hard to enjoy them when served on a less than appetizing vessel. I'm gonna throw one more thing in bc at this point, why not? My review is already way too long, may as well end it with another gem. When we received the bill, my husband let the waiter know that he works for x-company & that they give a discount to their employees. He seemed confused & said I'm pretty sure that's only for the downtown location. My husband assured him that his company had sent out a company-wide email letting their employees know that the discount was going to be honored at both locations. He said ok, let me check with my manager & I'll be right back. He came back with the new check reflecting the discount & said that moving forward they weren't going to be honoring the discount for x-companies employees at the GVR location, only at the downtown location but that they would "do it this time". *Cue the rolling eyes* Ok, whatever, it wasn't really a big deal & now we knew. We thanked him, paid the bill & got up to leave. As we were just about to the entrance, the manager that our waiter had talked to & had been standing by the hostess booth, physically blocked us from the entrance & went into a spiel about how they would honor the discount this time, etc.. (Yeah, the waiter had already told us the exact same thing!) When my husband mentioned that he already told the waiter about the email saying the discount would be honored at both locations & that was the reason it was even brought up, he said "yeah, that's something that YOUR company took upon themselves & decided to do, not something we said was ok" Seriously?? My husband works for a well known, very reputable company & I guarantee that if an email was sent out, it wasn't done bc they "took it upon themselves" He made us feel like complete jerks & considering it had already been handled by our waiter & by that point, we already knew what their new policy was for future visits, we both felt that it was completely uncalled for for him to accost us this way. Mixed First Impressions Three of us dined, each of us ordered entrees. Waiter (Nick) was good and attentive. However, all three of us got our entrees at different times. In fact after the first entree arrived the second wasn't brought until after the first diner finished. I never received my entree as I cancelled since the kitchen didn't have it ready by the time the second entree was consumed and they were the exact same dish (Gorgonzola Burgers). Front of house service is good but kitchen management obviously needs work. I can't comment on flavor of food since I didn't eat. The other two with me said it was good so I'll have to take their word for it. I live across the street but not sure I'll return. read more

After waiting months for this place to open, our first visit was a bit anticlimactic. We had the Mob Boss pizza and, wow...nice array of toppings but what a chunk of dough! It seems like the pizza will be the strong suit here, but I saw other Italian entrees at other tables and they looked good and artfully prepared. So...why do I give it three stars? 1. Uncomfortable cheap seating and tables. 2. Outdated Ed Hardy-esque douchy decor theme. 3. Music playing WAY too loud, as in you have to yell at the servers and anyone you wish to talk to at your table. This is a cheap poorly done audio system with just a bunch of speakers set at high volume...not the way to do audio in this type of setting, they really need to consult an audio engineer and get this fixed. 4. It took over 30 minutes to get our pizza...and it was not crowded. Hopefully #4 is temporary and a product of being new, but 1-3 May never change. This is a real shame as GVR is my "home" casino and I'd really love it if a fantastic restaurant were here as we eat out every meal and I'd heavily patronize them if this were true. Well, my first time here was MUCH better than the few times I've been to the Downtown location, so that's a good start! I still think that the menu is a bit overwhelming. Luckily, we were just there for happy hour and didn't have to decide from the bazillion options on the main menu. Most of the menu for happy hour is good (price wise). We shared the green beans, gorgonzola fries, and each ordered a personal size pizza (I had the Cal Italia). I also ordered meatballs, but never got them. Luckily, we were so full that this wasn't a big deal, and we weren't charged for them. We were there around 5pm on a Thursday, and it was packed! There seemed to be a wait for a table, so we sat at the counter seating that looks at the wood burning oven. Our server seemed really overwhelmed, but generally did a good job. The beer selection is decent, but there was honestly nothing that blew me away. However, it is good to see some local beers on tap - although it is not worth it for me to pay a higher price for a beer I can get just down the road, from the source.
