You have to understand that each pizza place will have its specialty. I stay away from their traditional slices. If you get those you are missing out on their real treasure. The Sicilian (square) pizza is absolutely beyond compare, and their Grandma's and Marinara pizza are fantastic. High quality garlic knots and chicken rolls (not to mention their pinwheels) make this the spot to hit for these items. The best Grandma slice around, very good regular slice, great mesclun salad slice, great rigatoni fiorentina. Prices aren't too bad, service is pretty good but nothing special. If you get the fried calamari, make sure to ask for it well done or it comes out undercooked. read more

I've been to pizziaola many times. The food has always been good. Some of the best pizza I have found near where I live...Long Beach. The restaurant is always busy so unfortunately there's typically a wait. Worth it for me!! Had one dish a few times...I believe it was chicken pizzaola...really good! Came in a lemon/butter wine sauce with broccoli and melted mozzarella. I normally don't like that kind of sauce, but it wasn't overpowering and tasted delicious. They have the best and most sensational pizza! I had the veggie pizza today and it was brimming with yummy vegetables which were extremely flavorful along with cheese beneath them. Something has definitely changed... we've been coming to Pizzaiola for years. Always enjoyed their food. But its not the same. A few weeks ago we ordered for delivery four dinners. The chicken Scarpariello was unchewable for two of my guest. Shame on me for not calling them. But we never had a problem. So we let it go. Our second order came a week later. The Rigatoni Fiorentina was dry and the chicken strips didn't taste right. Even after those incidences, we decided lets just get a Sicilian square pie and a Calzone for friends we invited over who also live in Oceanside and know Pizzaiola. Well, the pie was burned on top, and the Calzone was different. Not only too salty but the taste was not "Wow" any longer. Bottom line. We will no longer will frequent them. The restaurant section service is a bit slow but the food is very good. Love the penne a la vozca! Excellent pizza, try the buffalo chicken it's fenomenal! If it were any other day I would give this place five stars. They have awesome pizza. But today I called in an order at 1:15 pm for a pie half pepperoni half plain to be delivered. The girl on the phone said it would take about 45 minutes. Well, over an hour later when pizza was nowhere in sight I gave them a call and they said it had left and should be there shortly. Five minutes later the girl calls back and asks me what I ordered. I tell her and she goes okay it's leaving right now. Wait, but you told me it left already? This leaves me under the impression they forgot my order completely. 25 minutes later it arrived. I live 5 minutes from the restaurant. Also, it was ice cold. The fact that they actually charged me for my pizza ($22) astounded me. It took 2 hours to be delivered. I have been a customer here for years but may have to switch to a different go to pizzeria. read more

I have lived here all my life and have gone to Pizzaiola since it has opened. This place gets worse every day. They never have any pizza, and its such a small selection for the different types other pizzas pizzerias are making today. The guys up front are beyond rude. I speak italian and spanish and trust me they are talking about you when you're ordering your food. They really have some nerve to charge all that money for their food in the back and for the slices and then be nasty to you and talk behind your back. I recommend this to absolutely no one. Go to the pizzeria in the Sands shopping center not much farther down on long beach road. Trust me. I have never been anywhere with such low class as this place. read more

A terrible dining experience. Overpriced. Bad food: Pizza has soggy crust, skimpy on cheese. Pastas are all overcooked. Grilled meats are dried out. Least bad choice is the Chicken Parm sandwich. The staff is rude and unaccommodating, from the manager on down. They will ignor your requests, overcharge you, and snarl while doing so. Go to DiCoco's down the street. My wife and mother went there for the first time. Waiter accidentally spilled an entire coke on my 79 year old mother. When they went to pay, the drink was on the bill. My wife asked that the spilled drink be taken off the bill. The "manager" called the waiter to the front desk to "verify" my wife's story, reluctantly took the drink off of the bill, then castigated the waiter in front of everyone. Horrible way to treat customers and employees. Will never go there again!!! read more

This is my go-to pizzeria. Great service, authentic Italians behind the counter, and service as quick as possible. I don't prefer sitting down, but I've had a great experience whenever I did. Still haven't eaten there food. Basically I Call to place an order. One order of pasta with bolognese, they offer bolognese with rigatoni. Simple request that every Italian eatery from my hometown of OZONE PARK QUEENS to vacations in BOSTON I have never been told I can't change the choice of pasta. I have from some been told it's an additional charge of a dollar or two, never had been told NO, Until now. Second issue again ordered take out Italian a million times from a million places, this next request is a little odd however not bad or hard to do. I want an order of fried zucchini, please after they come out of the fryer put them in a doubled paper bag, otherwise by the time the get to my house they are a mushy soggy mess of what once was beautiful crispy breaded zucchini. That complete my order, I was called back a minute later. I was told they can't put the zucchini in a paper bag. I asked why not, a simple explanation I felt was nessesary. I was told the manager said they don't do that. So logically I asked to speak to the manager, the girl on the phone said sure hold on. I waited , just for the girl to come back on and tell me the manager was busy, to busy now to speak to a paying customer. So I simply told them , to cancel the order thanks. The girl seemed shocked, cancel the whole order? Yes cancel the whole order thank. So that was my first and last experience with them. read more

The food was decent, priced comparable but not sure I'll return. I ordered a dish that I didn't like, the sauce was very thick and I stated I wanted something light. When I told my server that I didn't like my food she offered to bring me something else and wrap up the dish I didn't like. Never has that happened to me before. Usually good business would be to take it back and bring something else. She offered me cappuccino to make up for it. So I paid $20 for a meal I didn't eat. We told her it was our first time here and you would think they would go out of their way to provide a level of service that would warrant our return. The food was eh, the marinara had an after taste, the clams and linguine looked amazing but didn't taste that great. i just put down the knife and fork in the middle of my meal to yelp this to y'all. this is BY FAR the MOST DELICIOUS shrimp parm hero i have ever had in my entire, shrimp parm eating life. the quality of the jumbo, and i mean JUMBO shrimp, cooked oh-so-perfectly. beautiful, fleshy shrimp with the perfect, subtle amount of sauce and generous amounts of gooey, hot mozzarella. and i asked for hollowed out garlic bread. oh man, i don't even like bread and i was tempted to ask for more. warm, chewy with a crunchy crust, my head and heart can't keep up with my food intake :) to top it all off, they have bottles of seagram's seltzer (and i was even able to cajole a cup of ice and some limes from the counter!).... utter perfection. i can't wait to come back!!!!! read more

I was there last night a little after 8PM with a friend and we sat down and ordered. We each started our meal with a bowl of soup which took over 20 minutes to receive and once we were finished we sat there with empty bowls on our table. The restaurant was not busy at all with only one other table seated. I got up to use the restroom and out waitress was sitting in the back corner with three other woman talking and eating what I guess was her dinner. When I came out of the restroom she looked directly at me as I passed by, when I returned to the table our empty soup bowls were gone. I asked my friend if she removed them and he said no it was the busboy. We continued to wait for our waitress and I told my friend how she was sitting in the back corner eating her dinner while talking to two other woman. A few more minutes went by and I saw our waitress walk into the kitchen with her empty plate, I assumed she would then bring out our food but I was wrong. She came out of the kitchen and went back to her table to talk I guess. After 5 minutes a busboy walked by and I asked him me to get our waitress. Our waitress got up from her table and went directly into the kitchen and brought out our food. She came over like nothing was wrong and gave us our food and walked away never saying a word, not even noticing our drinks were empty and offering a refill. I told my friend let's leave but he said no just get her attention and ask for refills. I told her m she went back in the corner so I can't see her to get her attention. She then got up and I waived to her and she came over with another woman who had her coat on who was saying goodnight to everyone. The waitress came by and asked if everything was ok and I said not really, we have nothing to drink and you didn't bother noticing this when you brought over the food and out food is cold. She apologized and said let me get you your drinks and I'll take the food back. We said forget it on the food we will just eat it cold because we can't wait another hour. She walked away with our glasses and the woman who was saying goodnight to everyone was standing there through this entire exchange looked at the waitress as she turned and rolled her eyes about us. I asked the busboy who the woman in the coat was and he said the owner. It took the waitress another 5 minutes to bring us out drinks as she was standing in the back by the kitchen door talking to the owner about what I don't know. We never finished our meal and asked for the check, she asked if we wanted to take the food home and I said no. She brought us the check and said I took $2 off the bill because it was cold. By this time it was 9:53PM and they were closing. It should have never taken this long to be served when the place was empty. The service here sucked and to think the owner was right there witnessing this entire thing and she rolled her eyes is pathetic. I will never go here again and I will tell everyone I know to do the same. read more

I am a very understanding individual but when I come into your restaurant there is a certain protocol between an employee and the customer. I always assumed it was mutual respect but if you wanted my business you should have tried being hospitable to my family and I. Your counter staff are condescending, always seem annoyed and are doing me a favor taking my order over the counter or on the phone. Asking anther family at the table next to us to leave because the wife brought in a frozen yogurt from next store and wanted to sit with her family was despicable in my humble opinion. They must have spent at least $50 at tour place and this smug guy is asking them to leave. You have turned off my wife completely from dinIng in or ordering out as the food she always likes to order has never been made as she asked. Pizza Restaurants are very competitive these days. You have lost our business. The management isn't customer centric so why should the counter staff is my opinion...as humble as it is. read more
