Always our go to for the night the hubby says "I don't feel like cooking " We have tried everything from the grinders to salads and their dinners. Have never been disappointed! The owners and the staff are always pleasant and very gracious for the business we do with them. I highly recommend this pizzeria not only for the food but the kindness and appreciation that is always shown when you step through the door! Since the new ownership in the past year, the quality of pizza has picked up. Taste, quality and attention to detail has improved. Sadly this last time, I was told my pizza would be ready in 55 min, an hour later I was there to pick up and was told it would be 15 more min, long story short it was 1.45 hrs in total. Usually when I buy Groupons it turns into a mix of sadness and regret for me once I actually redeem them. I always wait until the last minute, like I did with my Groupon for Pizzeria DaVinci. Two large specialty pizzas and a 2 liter of soda, for $20? Sounds great, right? So why did it take me 4 months to use it? I'll never really know. Like John S. said, it's in the middle of nowhere. Yet, it's directly on the route we take to get from Middletown to Middlefield, Meriden and beyond. For years we've said we should stop there. So glad that the Groupon brought us there tonight. I called to place the order and mentioned the Groupon...and was met with happiness, which was a huge surprise to me. I'm jaded with Groupon and businesses that accept Groupon, I actually call it Grump-on because people generally get their grump on when you try to redeem them! Not at DaVinci. The person who took my order was so friendly and nice and even checked to confirm how long the wait would be before I got off the phone (instead of throwing out the arbitrary "20 minutes"). It was 20 minutes and my pizza was coming out of the oven as I walked in the door. It's a small place, you know that from seeing the size of the building. But it smells SO good in there! I could not wait to get my pizza. Their large pizzas are LARGE but they cut their pieces to normal size, which is much appreciated. We ordered the Mangiare Tutto (the "everything") and the Pesto. They complimented each other nicely, one was heavy, the other much lighter. The Pesto had so much garlic, which I absolutely love. The crust - not my favorite. It held up well even on the everything pizza, but had a Pizza Hut-ish quality to it that I can't describe. Buttery? Flaky? I'm not sure. It wasn't bad per se...more like fine. But I'm also a pizza snob and I know it, so I can't downgrade for that. Most people would probably like it, I was just raised on New Haven pizza with a tasty crust and a good char. Even without a Groupon, DaVinci is an excellent value for the size of the pizza and quality of the toppings, given the price. And they have Foxon Park sodas, I was able to get two 1-liter bottles and got to enjoy some birch beer and some root beer. Ahhhh.... We will definitely be back. was craving a salad and a pizza today. decided to give them a try again- it had been a while. it was always a go to for our pizza night. but the past 6 months or so orders were wrong, items missing, etc... today should have been no surprise. my salad that i ordered over the phone with a human, i requested NO RED ONIONS... well, not only was there onions, i think he thought i said EXTRA.! So, almost 16.00 of trash. also ordered a small sausage and pepper extra mozz pizza. i got a small, hardly any cheese i believe it was eggplant pizza. called. owner wants me to drive back 30 min to SHOW him the food. i requested i will be in tomorrow for my money back. not open. i said you will see me tuesday. he will only give me my money back if i return the items on tuesday, cause obviously the customer is not right at davinci's pizza. extremely poor customer service. i sure learned my lesson today. read more

The pizzas are edible, but the staff was incredibly rude. The guy taking the orders was very insulting to one of the women in our group and it made for a very uncomfortable experience. Sexist insults and comments are incredibly inappropriate and made us not willing to go back. I would recommend women stay away. read more

Pizzeria DaVinci is truly a winner, An excellent place to grab pizza for dinner. Fresh ingredients and good service too, I went with a Groupon; now I'll return for round two. Got a Groupon: 2 large Specialty pizzas and a bottle of soda for $20. The place is three miles away from Middletown? Sold. I gave the place a call on a Friday night and the young guy who answered gave me very good service over the phone. He made me feel like he was happy I was calling, which is uncommon for a pizza place on a Friday night. He also gave me great service when I went to pick up the pie. We went with the Tomato Basil and the Mona Lisa. The Tomato Basil was DaVinci's take on a Margherita and it was OK. Fresh cheese, but the tomato slices were a little too thick. However, the Mona Lisa rocked our socks off! It was a white pie with sausage and broccoli rabe. The sausage was not typical pizza sausage; it was similar to Spanish chorizo. Wasn't expecting that. The broccoli was not overpowering at all. The crust was our absolute favorite part. It had a hint of garlic pepper and some extra cheese, and was perfectly crispy. It was truly a work of art, just like the Mona Lisa. The pizzas came in "Smart Boxes", which were so cool. I've never heard of them before, but they serve two purposes: 1. they tear into plates so you don't need to accumulate dirty dishes 2. they fold into a big container so you can save your extra pizza. The place was kind of in the middle of nowhere and there was very little parking. Had to park on the street near a stop sign. Takeout only. Foxon Park is the brand of soda sold. Will definitely be back to try the Quattro Formaggio (4-cheese white pie) and the Spicy Buffalo Chicken. read more

Looking for pizza on a busy tuesday night my wife found a $20 groupon for Pizzeria Da Vinci. We've passed by this little shop in Rockfall in the past but never gave it much thought. We ordered, 2 Large Specialties & 2-Liter for $20 (turned out to be a great deal). We got one pizza (the special) with sausage, meatball, mushroom, roasted red pepper, onion... basically everything.... It was too overloaded so the dough was a bit soggy, but the flavor was delicious. We also got a four-cheese pizza, which was overwhelmingly tasty. Aside from Mondo, this is the top pizza joint in the area and will be our go-to until proven otherwise. They have 11 locations so i just hope they dont end up like Illiano's. read more

This place is bad, like really bad. I ordered a large bbq chicken pizza, small cheese pizza, and baked chicken bites with bbq sauce. They said 30 mins. Well 30 mins later, I show up and the guy at the counter goes, we ran out of bbq sauce. Well that would of been nice to know like 30 mins prior when I placed my order. There was only 2 people working. One kid doing the pizza making with the dough and this other guy who was handling cash and taking pizzas off the conveyor belt pizza setup they have. Yeah that cant be sanitary. I ended up leaving with no chicken bites, an undercooked soggy bbq chicken pizza, hold the bbq sauce, and a small cheese that was surprisingly cooked right. I moved to Wichita, Kansas last year and have been pretty homesick - but it's not the ocean or the trees or the existence of actual weather that I miss most; it's Pizzeria DaVinci's pizza. Painfully delicious pizza at truly great prices, and they always have some really generous coupons available on their website. Their Shrimp Scampi pizza and Baked Potato pizza are literally the stuff of dreams, and no other pizza restaurant I have tried since moving to this hellish unending plain even comes remotely close to their perfection. (And, embarrassingly, I have tried at least a dozen different restaurants trying to find something comparable to DaVinci's offerings only to be met with bitter and crushing disappointment. My quality pizza lust runs deep.) The only gripe I have is that their other locations have always given me kinder customer service and are more open to special requests. Rockfall for some reason won't ever make a 1/3 topping pizza, and won't make their large pizzas with a thicker crust. On the occasions they have agreed to make pizza with a thicker crust for me (about 50% of the time) they charged a few dollars extra. The Moodus location was always happy to do those things for me during the several years I lived down the road from them, and never asked an extra fee. Because I adore the restaurant and want to see it thrive, I have no problem paying the extra fees, but I always found the inconsistency in service between the locations to be very jarring. tl;dr: Best pizza ever, I don't think I can go on much longer without it. Ordered 2 pies. Both were over cooked. The meatballs on one of the pies were burnt and the bottoms were overcooked on both. Hardly any crust and it was tough to eat and pull apart due to it being overcooked. Won't be going back. read more

They were rude when we called in, rude when we came to pick up, rude to some customers on the phone who recieved a sub par pizza via delivery (while we awkwardly sat listening) and then didn't even respond when we paid and said have a good night. I love to give this place a 5 but I can't for reasons I will get into. Last evening we were having a family gathering at my grand mother's for dinner. We ordered 2 large and 2 small pizzas for the occasion. One large plain cheese I know boring but ultimately necessary do picky eaters, and not not my kid. The other large was a spinach and sausage pizza. No shortage of spinach and the sausage was spicy Italian sausage but more like a mild spicy not the over powering in your face spicy. A small gluten free pizza with mushrooms and roasted re peppers. This pizza was good but it had like a weird squishy feeling between crust and cheese, but as I'm not very familiar with gluten free products I don't know if this is normal. Now onto the other final small pizza. We had looked over the menu from their website resolved down the order and made it ready. They had a chipotle steak and cheese with fried peppers and onions. This sounded amazing but when we went to order it we got back nah we don't have that. Ultimately we ordered a white pizza variety of it because the final story was they no longer carry the chipotle sauce and therefore don't offer that pizza. Now I know it might sound like I'm nit picking but in 21st century culinary service there is no excuse for not updating your website to current. Or a minimum displaying a "last updated on" date on things like the menu. If this was based on food I would have done the 5 but due to the debacle of their website I stand at 4 for my over all experience. read more

This is one of my favorite places in town. I always come here for pizza and tonight just wasn't worth it for me. I had ordered food and they were out of what I wanted. They claimed that they called back to see if I had wanted anything different. I had no call, when I said I wanted the same thing without the special item that they didn't have. I called to complain to the manager he said it was on the house but when the driver arrived he wanted 25 dollars...Uh no. My favorite Davinci's in the whole state of CT. Their food is fresh and the workers care about their customers. They are friendly and very personable. I usually deal with Aaron the nights that I go to pick up a pizza or a salad and the hospitality I receive is amazing.
