I came here on a Wednesday night and they were having a wine tasting. They also had all their wine bottles half off, which was nice. I have been here a couple times to do a pizza and mozzarella class. I'm going to a limocello class at the end of the year. I came here with a wine group that I'm a part of I typically like sweet wine so I ended up getting a can of Moscato. I got the Margarita pizza and just so you know all their pizza is well done like almost burnt so if you don't like that, you need to tell them so. The pizza was OK. I would've liked more sauce on it. We sat outside and it was really nice. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We even had one of their staff take a picture of all of us. I. Can. Not. Say enough good things about this place. Not only is the atmosphere super comfy but everything was so nice. The staff were kind and explained food options and any questions that we had and after we has ordered it only took about 8-10 minutes until our food was brought to us. The service was fantastic. Now along to the food, We noticed immediately how we didn't feel bloated after eating the food which you can immediately tell it was made with Fresh ingredients and leaves you feel like you can still go on a 4 mile walk with no problem. So, this was hands down just not for me. I brought two people with me, making it a total of three of us to try this pizza. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, and man, was it disappointing. The dough was cooked perfectly, but other than that, everything seemed to go wrong. For a pepperoni pizza, there were only about five slices of pepperoni on it I might as well have ordered a cheese pizza. The sauce was super watery, to the point where I was basically drinking it. The cheese was pretty good, but a bit too strong for my taste when it comes to pizza, and it definitely overpowered everything else, and the pizza in general was floppy and everything was just falling off. Like I said, it's not for me. And for a 41-minute drive to get here, I wouldn't personally find it worth my time ever again. But if you're ever in the area, go ahead and check this place out. This place is so good and I will definitely be going back! The salad was my favorite part which is surprising, but the dressing was so good and everything about it was so good. I got the Quattro formaggio pizza and added pepperoni, I think next time I'll just get a pepperoni pizza because the cheese wasn't super flavorful and there wasn't any sauce. I also didn't read the menu well because it was chaotic once I got in to order. The tiramisu was also seriously amazing. I spent $46 for a 10oz pizza, salad, tiramisu, and a drink which is pretty steep but next time I'd just go for pizza (or pasta) and salad! My complaints were that I got skimped on the pepperoni, and there was pretty much no garlic or butter or anything on the garlic knots They also have a ton of seating and the area is really nice! read more

Overall, I did not care much for the taste of the cows on as it just really wasn't for my pallet. Service was so so as we were given no directions on where our water was as it was our first time. The area is absolutely gorgeous and having indoor outdoor seating with being pet friendly is definitely a plus.. This is a very quaint restaurant in the preserve neighborhood. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. It is right next to Moss rock preserve so you could go hiking and afterwards go to lunch at this restaurant. You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you. The only downside is no one comes back to check on you at your table. At one point, and I don't know if they are still doing this they will charge you extra for using a debit or credit card. I think the salads are really good. The sausage and meatball appetizers are really good as well. My son really likes the pizza. They do have a kids menu. In addition, they usually have a bounce house right outside the restaurant so kids can play in that. I believe there is cornhole there as well. Quality is down the drain. Customer service is a joke. The flies will assault you while sitting on their deck. Size of their pizzas keep going down. A zero rate - would that be an option. The very worst of this place is the health risk posed by the way they handle their firewood oven. Their pizzas almost always come with a thick layer of charcoal on the bottom. That's because they don't clean it as they use it. That's 101 rule in any italian pizzeria: wipe down the oven stones to clean them and cool them down, at every pizza! You eat burned food long enough, and your chances of colon cancer will skyrocket. Reason why Italy actually tried to ban firewood oven goods altogether. And you hardly ever see any charring on pizzas in Italy. The charring is a threadmark for poor oven and dough temperature handling. Don't be fooled by marketing BS. I sent back my pizzas, I refuse to eat charcoal. Done with Vecchia. read more

Tried out Vecchia for lunch today. Located in the Moss Rock area of Hoover it was a little out of the way for us, but was recommended by a friend. At first glance, from the outside, I thought that this might be a nice place. Upon entrance I was shuttled down a narrow hallway lined with drinks and wines to a cashiers desk. We placed our order and served ourselves bottled drinks, from a cooler behind us. The prices for a 10 oz pie were $18 so I was hoping for a great find in wood fired pizza for our area. We then went around the corner to a very table cluttered dining area. After noticing that if you asked for water that it was "self serve" from a high school style water fountain in plastic cups. No wait staff roomed the area, only the cashier and the two cooks. When the pizza arrived it was fresh out of the wood fired oven. Nice char in spots but the bottom was still a little under cooked. I ordered the classic pepperoni but had to search to find said toppings. Scarce and unevenly distributed. Then came the bite; the tip of my slice was soggy and limp. No crunch. The bone was nice and crisp with good flavor. The red tomato sauce was bland at best, no spices, I ended up adding salt to my slice to help the flavor. Cheese was thin but nice flavor and pull. I looked for Parmesan, but had to go to the water fountain to find the powdered cheese shaker. (No fresh Parmesan available) Nothing was on the tables but a beer bucket with plastic utensils and off brand napkins. For what was told to me was a true Italian pizzeria I was disappointed. Pizza wasn't bad but could have been so much better with some spices and flavor. And charging these prices I would expect some wait staff and fountain drinks. (Ditch the high school water fountain). Establishment was clean and staff was nice. Food was OK, maybe even good had it been a lower price point. But Vecchie has some loyal followers and it was busy for that time of day, so others must enjoy it. Overall 3.5 stars! read more

We came here back in March for my niece's bday lunch. (Her pick). It was a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. You order at the counter and they will bring your food to your table. This was our very first time here and it was decent. I had a pizza, my niece had a panini and my mom had a charcuterie board. We each had drinks. The prices were a little pricey to me, honestly. I have no complaints on the service. The vibe inside is nothing amazing but I do like that you can see them preparing your food. I had heard great things about Vecchia. The pictures on the website look phenomenal. I took my team from work there. It was quite underwhelming. We ordered three different types of pizza. Neither style was the least bit impressive. I have had better pizza from Dominos, Pizza Hut, or any other chain you care to name. You have to order when you enter, then you are seated. No real service was provided that you would receive at other restaurants. The pizza was delivered and some drinks were delivered, but other drinks you had to pick up from the front. However, I am not the biggest fan of pizza, so I would take this review with a grain of salt (lol). I ordered their 10-oz margherita pizza, and it was not my favorite thing ever. As far as I know, they used all fresh ingredients, which I appreciated, but the pizza itself was lacking some flavor. The tomato sauce was also too watery, which made eating quite messy. I also ordered their most basic pizza, so that probably did not help. They have plenty of menu options as well, and I am sure that their pasta would be great. Despite the food, the vibes at this place made it enjoyable. It is definitely one of those summer restaurants. I would recommend this restaurant, but I wouldn't recommend their margherita pizza. I'd recommend going in the evening, I think the location of this place is really selling. However, I will say some of the outdoor seating was a little worn out. They have a lot of vegetarian-friendly options, and they can make a lot of options vegan as well. I ordered their margherita pizza, which was pretty good but a little floppy. It was cooked in a wood-fired oven, which seemed authentic to the place itself. I'd say their food is fairly priced. Service was alright, nothing special. Even though I didn't get any desert they had some pretty good authentic desserts like canolis and some unique ones like the Nutella pizza. I would definitely like to try one the next time I go. I loved all the outdoor seating options, but it was still a little too chilly in the shade so we sat in the dining room. I ordered the fettuccini with sausage, my husband got a cheese pizza, and my daughter got a kids' pepperoni. My food came out very quickly. I tried to wait until my family got their food to eat, but the wait stretched longer, and I had to start eating before it got cold. The Alfredo sauce was ok. Very standard pasta dish. Unfortunately, I was done eating before the pizzas were served. I'd have preferred my food to be cooked and served closer to when their food was done so we could have eaten at the same time. Instead of allowing us to get something else off the menu that may have actually been good, server told us he couldn't get us something different but could just recook the pizza. The second time it came more cooked, but black across all the crust! Idk if this is just their standard or what? Supreme pizza had basically just dough and raw supreme ingredients. Also confused why it prompts you to tip when all the "server" did was bring the pizza out and take the order at the register. The only good thing were the meatballs. I don't know how the meatballs were so amazing but the pizza lacked any flavor at all. If we came back it wouldn't be for the pizza, which seems to be one of their main attractions. The ambiance was okay, they had a cute outside area but sadly we won't be back. I was surprised to see they carry angry orchard, so I was really happy!! The wife ordered the antipasti for the appetizer, fresh mozzarella cheese and a plethora of other good stuff. I ordered the chicken Alfredo, it did not disappoint! The dish it is cooked in is a nice cast iron skillet which helps maintain the temperature a bit after it's served. Our friends had. Excited to try this italian restaraunt that we saw online, we drove an hour to arrive around 4pm on Saturday. The building is gorgeous, just draws you in. Sadly, that was the high point of this visit. Through the doors, we land at what looks like a liquor store counter where we were told to "take menus, sit wherever, and come back to the counter to order". Is that the greeting that everyone receives here? It actually confused me to the point where the employee repeated himself 3 times. Hmmm, odd. The place was empty, only 2 men sitting at a table talking. On the tables sat large painted buckets holding a roll of paper towels and around 50 plastic forks. These buckets gave me a camping vibe, not a vibe that an itallian eatery in such a gorgouse building would give. After reviewing the menu, we ordered the meatball appetizer, a large pizza and 2 drinks - ice tea and the worst sour lemonade I've ever had. Apparently, if you want soda with a pizza here, you have to buy a plastic bottle from the stores cold case like you would from any gas station. So we sit to wait for our food and watch 4 employees standing in the cooking area talking to each other while watching another person make our food. Apparently, some worker "was gonna be late". The appetizer of 4 meatballs in sauce arrived without any side plates. As we sat across from each other, we had to eat from the pan hoping not to drip sauce on the way to our mouths. That first bite became very clear that the meatballs were not fresh. The sauce was only slightly warmed and the meatball centers had a chill to them. Ok, I get it, theres no one in the place so these came directly from the fridge to be warmed and served. The disappointment is setting in as I know I could've done better at home and saved the $11. While chewing the first bite of this appetizer, the pizza arrived. It wasnt even 2 minutes later, and again, no plates given to us. We stop eating the cool meatballs to try the pizza. It was so hot that the slice bent down allowing the toppings to fall onto the sheet pan. I grabbed a plastic fork to eat that first bite and actually burned my mouth. I went back to the cool meatball appetizer. The flavor of the pizza was tasty but the toppings were so slight, you could litterally see the crust through the toppings AND the red sauce. This "large" pizza was the size of a medium everywhere else leaving us feeling jilted after the $22 price tag. Nothing here was worth the price tag, I just kept thinking how I could make it better at home and for less. To top off our experience at this restaraunt, I hadnt even finished my first slice of pizza when a worker took a long broom and starting brushing the inside of the lamp shades hanging from the ceiling. That was enough for me. I spoke up to ask the worker to refrain from knocking the dust down until we left as it would eventually land in my food. By this time, we had a sick feeling in this place and asked for a box to take the remaining pizza home. We just wanted out of there and fast. We as customers left this establishment feeling invisible, overcharged, ignored, underappreciated and underserviced. We were given over priced lack luster food without any decent cutlery or plates to eat on. (Must've been the dishwasher that was late.) No one even checked on us the entire time we were there. We were not properly greeted but they sure took our money as fast as they could, then left us to ourselves. No one cared that we were even there, they got thier money and we were discarded. We wont be back. We drove away discussing what just happened. We both felt that the building's charm did not reflect how the restaraunt was being run. It felt like a bait & switch vibe and we had just been taken. The staff was very friendly. The cashier answered all of our questions and made suggestions. We ordered and quickly found a table outside. We sat outside because the dining room was reserved for a private event. Thankfully, it was cloudy and about to rain. We didn't enjoy fanning the flies, but the weather was perfect for a patio dinner. The spinach dip was sooooo good we purchased a second one.
