The pizzas are a bit on the pricey side for their size (just a touch bigger than personal size ), but the ingredients are high quality and they are delicious. We visited this area and opted for takeout due to COVID. The place is small and cozy, and the people who run it were incredibly polite, kind, and worked very hard! Some of the best brick oven pizza I've had. There is a big tent obscuring the front/entrance, so go around it. I was surprised by the customers who opted to eat inside such an intimate space (during COVID), which meant they were all unmasked, but the owners/operators were all masked and bustling. I would say this place is in the top 3 pizza places in the Hudson Valley. Only personal preferences would separate the other two on that list for rank and placement. The menu consists of two antipastos, about five salads and various pizza's. No pasta dishes or entrees. Save that nonsense for an Italian restaurant. When you do the best pizza around you don't need gimmicks or a large menu or to even to have a store front on the street. It's actually kind of hidden behind other stores in a courtyard. The mamma mia was also enjoyable but might not be for everyone. It had a nice kick to it and a lot going on. my favorite part was by far the onions so if you're not an onion fan, I'd stray away from it. The only disappointing thing really was the bread to start. Loved the olive oil and even appreciated the fact they don't offer butter for it, but the bread was pretty dull. Ate here tonight and everything was superb. Started with a delicious spinach salad, which came with goat cheese, mushrooms, red onions, bacon and we added olives. We then shared the Mama Mia Pizza, which was a white pie with fresh mozzarella, sweet onions and fennel sausage. Boy oh boy, this is the best pie I've had in ages! You could taste the freshness of the ingredients and the incredible flavor of the crust from the wood fire oven. Dare I say this is better than many Brooklyn/Manhattan restaurants I've been to. Add to the fact that the owner, Patrick was extremely friendly and takes great pride in his pizzas. Rhinebeck might be the best eating town in the Hudson Valley, and Pizzeria Posto just ups the town's standing a little bit more. It isn't often that you get excellent, wood-fired pies outside of the NYC metro area, and Posto does it right. A few words of advice: 1. Always add garlic to your pies. Not for your breath, but because it tastes good. 2. Get salads. Not for your health, but because the salads here are delicious, and big enough to share. The mountains of grana padano and ricotta salata atop them all are probably healthy though. I think. 3. Drink more wine (unless you're driving home). Not for your health. My Air Bnb host recommended Porto's saying it had the best brick oven pizza, even better than NYC so I had to try it when I was visiting Rhinebeck. My daughter was telling me because it took me about 20 minutes to find it after we left the car. It's tucked into a cute courtyard off of Market Street but it was so worth it!!! The pizza lived up to its hype. Super thin, crispy crust how I like, robust sauce, and cheese that almost melts into the sauce but keeps it's shape. So yummy! We shared a pie and an arugula, apple, goat cheese salad with a balsamic dressing which was refreshing and delicious. The area is known for its farmland and the arugula was picked while it was young and still tender and succulent (I am a lettuce fan). Service was great and friendly! It's a must go! read more

And I will forever honor the memory of the cast-iron "Santa Rosa" that Pat used to sling out of the kitchen in Lagrange. But...I'm not going to ding them for it! When we're up in Rhinebeck and looking for some outstanding, real wood-fired pizzas, this is the spot. On a recent visit I tried the one with pistachio, red onion and grana padano (yes the name of it is escaping me...) -- and it was totally terrific. Their salads are huge and fresh. And you know what? I go to Market St restaurant several times a week and I love it because of the bar. But if I am in the mood for serious pizza, I'm going to Posto. The only changes I would like are personal. I am usually a single diner and there is no bar, no booze, and no small plates. Getting a pizza and salad for one would be not only pricy, but way too much food. I wish there was a bar with small salads, pizza by the slice, and some amaro's and then you couldn't get me to leave this place. Cool location, beautiful oven, best staff.
